  1. That's a great idea. Besides, I'll still be pissed off about the whole process after I get my visa. Being without my so is like doing hard time in prison... we don't deserve this. Writing a few letters after this nightmare may be therapeutic. And it is a great thing that can be done to help our CFL brothers and sisters.
  2. I would agree with tywy_99. Give them what they want for now, and see what happens. If you don't get the visa, then raise hell through the right channels. After waiting an entire year or more, these heartless bastards have the nerve to deny people without even looking at the evidence. It makes me wonder about the country that I'm living in. And even after I get my visa, it still sucks to know that other people are facing such a hardship. It's not right. And after visiting China two times, I'm not so sure that it would be a bad place to live. My so isn't concerned about where we live, as long as we are together.
  3. "Although we dont owe them a dime, were still worried about the same thing happening to us. " The truth is that we don't really know the details behind the whole "third party coorespondence" that the DOS claims. I would't be surprised if there isn't even a third party involved in Alex's case. The DOS has been entirely less that forthcoming about what's really going on. So we shouldn't jump to conclusions and start worrying. And hopefully Alex can hang in there and prevail. I think that the DOS refusal to give Alex a straight answer suggests that they don't really have any reason to deny the visa. They are the ones with something to hide... and I hope that Alex can take them to task for it. No one deserves to be put through this.
  4. nooneufo, You must have a lot of time on your hands But the list of numbers is certainly appreciated. We all have to do something while waiting. And our so's should be proud of us... knowing that we spend so much time thinking about them and their visas. At least we are not waiting alone. Come on P4's.
  5. I was in Guangzhou during December, so the weather was perfect and the pollution didn't seem that bad... no worse than NYC. But then again, I could imagine how it must get in the summer. I've been to Shenzhen, and it seems a bit nicer than Guangzhou. They have some amazing restraunts there.
  6. I agree that it is a magical place. I visited one of Guangzhou's oldest streets, and the place was fantastic at night. I started wondering if my so would get bored living in the US.... I live in the quiet suburbs. In additon, it seems that there is a lot of opportunity opening up in China. Many corporations are moving their operations there, and business is booming. I wonder where China will be in the next decade. But I do agree that the toilets on the ground suck... just a bad idea all around.
  7. And it's an obvious injustice. We live in a society where money is the deciding factor in what is right and wrong. This whole situation has made me a very cynical person.
  8. Alex, We are all still hoping to hear of your success, which will happen. The DOS owes you an explanation, so the truth will come out eventually. It's hard now, but there will definitely be a conclusion. And you will win as long as you persist. Good luck.
  9. "The report credits the overall improvement to better technology, coordination among agencies and policy changes — such as priority interviews for student applicants." I love the part about "priority interviews". What about us, who are separated from our loved ones? Do we count? Does anyone care? This pisses me off.
  10. I agree... not cool. You had me excited for a minute. But here is the GOOD news. Last month, the P4's started flowing around the 25th. And it has been the same almost every month. So, we can expect some P4's in the next week. My concern is if they will grant more March interviews. I hope that there are still openings in March. That would mean that GUZ is really speeding up.
  11. Well, we will find out soon. The end of February is only two weeks away, so the P4 spigot should open soon. And when it does, I'm hoping that there are still open slots for March.
  12. We're all waiting with you................
  13. Hey John, I wish that I had an October or November P3. My lucky P3 month is December. But everyone waiting in this traffic jam is happy to see a green light up ahead..... even if it is far up ahead.
  14. So far, a few October P3's have gotten March interviews. Maybe March is not entirely booked. Anyone want to bet on the possibility of a few P4's for November P3's this month?
  15. Tony, Thanks for the great recommendation of dynasky.com !!! My long-distance provider has been giving me terrible service, and I was looking for a way to make calls with a phone card. But I was worried that a phone card would not provide records for our interview. Does anyone else have any good phone card recommendations... something where I could get a record of my calls?
  16. I just want to keep this thread alive... hoping to hear news about the P4's soon!
  17. Jenny, did GUZ or the DOS ever give you a reason for the delay? Did they complete the background check? If so, they should be able to give you some estimate of when you will get the interview... if you bug them enough.
  18. We also have to consider the fact that GUZ is understaffed. And the DOS cannot use the excuse of limited funding, because we and our fiances have all paid to process these applications... on top of what we already pay in taxes.
  19. "low and behold, small minds started to expand a little" We live in a wonderful world that's full of small-minded people.
  20. Good Luck to all of those with October P3's. We all get excited when the P4 spigot turns on.
  21. CONGRATS !!!!!! What a relief !!! We are all cheering with you!
  22. Unbelievable! According to the information from your link, section 221 merely refers you to section 212, which is a hodgpodge list of stuff that will make you inelligble. It doesn't state anything specific. In addition, too much of it is left up to the "opinion of the consular officer". For instance, look at item number 4: (4) PUBLIC CHARGE.-- Any alien who, in the opinion of the consular officer at the time of application for a visa, or in the opinion of the Attorney General at the time of application for admission or adjustment of status, likely to become a public charge is excludable. It doesn't say anything specific about income level... it only mentions the "opinion of the consular officer". What if the VO is having a bad day? aahming888, I can see why you are confused. But still give the DOS a call, and don't let them off the phone without giving you a straight answer or getting you to someone who can. In addition, you may learn something from the email that you sent to GUZ. Hang in there.
  23. You should take the following steps. Find out what section 221 of the Immigration and Nationality Act is. Do this by contacting the DOS. Dept of State phone number is 202-663-1225. call after 8:30 am eastern standard time. when you get a voice message push "1" then "0" two times, then you can talk to a life voice. In addition, the DOS may be able to give you more detailed information about the blue slip. Either way, you should focus on providing evidence that deals with section 221. Good Luck.
  24. CONGRATS! Now you two can move on to celebrating the rest of your lives together! Quick question. Does the VO simply review to I-134 form, or do they also keep it for their records?
  25. Lee, Sorry to hear this. But your situation can be resolved. It is only a matter of showing that you can communicate, and this should not be hard with the video tape. I would wish you the best of luck, but you won't need it. You will pass with flying colors... just focus on getting your so to keep her chin up. And a question about the expired single certificate. How long is it good for? The P3 asks us to get this stuff as soon as possible. Is that a mistake? Should we wait?
