Amanada Having you child on lap/arms for domestic flight is probably not too bad, but may be a pain on a flight to China. The bulkhead or exit row seats ( the ones with extra room) are great if you can get them. I not sure it is a given you will get better deal with site like flychina. One advantage of dealing with airline or travel agent is that you can discuss your situation, options, seat assignments. etc before you buy the tickets. It will cost you nothing to talk to the airlines, in most case you can hold a reservation for a few days while you make final decisons. I might be able to help a bit more if I knew your depature/arrival cities. I fly all of the USA and world as part of my job

Fiancee doesn't have a birth certificate

Don't worry - I did because Ying's town was so small. The documents are coming from the "notarial office", so the stamps, etc are the right ones. If they do the translation, you are also okay. Otherwise See David's post on translations. I did this in Beijing without any problem I think everything will be fine, it seems vague to us, but from what I have seen this is business as usual in China, and no big deal or worry -
Okay, so the joke is on me. Next time I will look more closely at member # and join date. No problem, what else do I have to do ? Laopo is in China and I am not.

The I-797C is Notice of Receipt, also called NOA-1, it is notification from the service center that it looks like you made no gross errors on the petition, they will cash your check and give you receipt number and put in pile for further processing. The I-797 is Notice of Action, also called NOA-2, it is notification that the service center has approved your petition and can be passed on to the National Visa Center for additional processing. Both the I-797C and I-797 will be sent to the US citizen (petitioner). When you get the I-797 make several copies and then put it in a safe place. You will need the original later during the AOS and it is pain and cost money to get a replacement. ( Mine is the in bank safe deposit box) Give a copy to your SO to have if needed for interview I no nothing of a 3rd type of I-797

Ying is from the countryside, she gets her papers from a town much, much smaller than Guizhou. It was really no problem, they knew what to do, could provide the English translations. I would think a family member should be able to get these for her. The only thing Ying had to sign was statement that she was not married and local office made statement they had no record of marriage. Stamp, translate you are done. Your next step should be having her relative try to get the documents, they are are not free - fees vary region/city -

Here is the link to the 001 timeline. It shows many interviews up June 30 and the July 25 interview 001 timeline -
Yes contact the airlines !! If you elect to not get a ticket, remember child does not get a seat. Think about size of you child and length of flight. Do not assume the seat next to you will be empty. If you are able to get a bulkhead seat when you book ticket, there will be extra room where your child could sleep on floor in front of you. Were you thinking of domestic or international flight ?

Q about File number and A number on G-325A
ed and ying replied to fly's topic in General Visa Discussion & First Steps
I have seen other information that indicates that USC should include the old A number on form. Remember that you do not want to leave any question blank on these forms . You cannot use N/A or NONE, so it has to be your old number -

NVC to GUZ for May
ed and ying replied to ed and ying's topic in General Visa Discussion & First Steps
To build on David's response, the best way to get your date from NVC is ( need to credit this to Gene) : Is to call NVC at 603-324-0700 on the verge of 0730 eastern time, punch 1 and 5, then be ready to give your receipt number, SO's name and Bday. Tuesday is rumored to be the best day. I was done in 10 minutes on a early Tuesday morning. Then you can call DHL with your date, or try tracking it yourself. If you know your ship date I thing you can find your package if you track on DHl by reference. The reference is I-730. It would be helpful to get some responses form others that have had DHL identify their package and compare it to my track by reference "I-730" idea PM or email me if you want/need more info -

Go figure, We should all be old hands at what is stated and published is not accurate, not the actual process, and subject to change at any whim. As "Brooks and Dunn" almost said - " Only in America in Guangzhou" -
Congrats and best wishes !!

Congrats Carl I will just add that I do business all over the world. First contacts are usually email or phone. Sometimes we work together for longtime before meeting in person. It is just striking how your perception of a person can change when you meet in person. I think the same applies as you notch up a relationship - email to phone, phone to person.

A airport "hub" city in the Central USA sounds like a good idea. Minimize travel time, chance of missed connections, etc. I would suggest Chicago

A bunch of packages went from DHL to GUZ today, unfortunately mine was not among them. Maybe next week. From looking at the last 4 weeks of shipments from NVC it appears: a. GUZ tends to take a load of packages every week or so. b. The larger packages tend to fall behind with clearance delay or the vague "arrived at DHL facility" You can find these using track by reference at DHL-usa. The reference is "I-730" Here are the tracking numbers and status for packages sent 4/26 to 5/23 This is the format Tracking number, Status, Date , Ship date , Origin , Destination >>>>>>>>>>>>> 7866151930 Clearance Delay. 4/29/2005 5:16 pm 4/26/2005 PORTSMOUTH, NH GUANGZHOU, CHINA 7866492152 On Hand at Destination Station. 4/30/2005 5:09 pm 4/27/2005 PORTSMOUTH, NH GUANGZHOU, CHINA 7866735041 Shipment delivered.
