1. We got the Notice of Action in the mail today. So, I guess now we just sit tight until the green card arrives.
2. Whats next ? Wait for the offical notice in the mail, I know. Do I need to take this to the SS office, so she can get a SSC with out the little notice about only authorized to work with EAD ? I know I need to take it to the DMV, so she can get a CA DL (or ID). Anything else I am forgetting ?
3. Checked online just a second ago, and the good news is we are approved: Application Type: I485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status Current Status: This case has been approved. On February 15, 2006, an approval notice was mailed. If 14 days have passed and you have not received this notice, you may wish to verify or update your address. To update your address, please call the National Customer Service Center at (800) 375-5283.
4. If we make reservations for dinner early enough, it may be possible to have one large table. As for the other ideas, I think this is really coming together. Sounds like we are going to have a bunch of fun.
5. I will start a list / count of people attending tomorrow -- I will include ones that I think may come as well. We can sort the list out from there.
6. You do not have to be from California to come to our meeting. Everyone is invited.
7. Hi, Louis, I originally suggested the Arboretum since we would have room for our group no matter how many people show up! I thought we could make a day at the arboretum and then have a nice Chinese dinner. If you think the families would rather shop than see GREAT natural surroundings, the greenhouses, orchid and fern collections etc then we can just meet at the mall. Someone who knows the mall well will have to designate a meeting place. Or we could still meet at the arboretum, but just head for the mall. I personally would prefer a nature walk and a quiet lawn to sit on. Meeting at 10:00 and trying to get a restaurant elsewhere for a 12:00 would make even entering the arboretum questionable. -James 190945 We can play it by ear. I like the idea of going for a nature walk myself. Lunch does not necessarly have to be a noon. I was actually thinking of a late lunch actually for the reasons you state ( around 3:00 pm ). I guess that may mean bringing a snack to the arboretum.
8. Maybe we could get the Don or one of the of other moderators to move this thread to a more accessible location, so that guest can see it. I know I sometimes don't login. It would get more view time pinned in another area... Don can you help us out ?
9. I have added the Calendar Event. There is no turning back now Calendar
10. It is set in stone, unless we have an earthquake ....
11. Checked out the Los Angeles Arboretum website. Looks interesting. Somewhat similar to Goldengate park in SF. LA Arboretum The Los Angeles County Arboretum & Botanic Garden is located at 301 North Baldwin Avenue, Arcadia, CA, 91007. Open daily from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm; admission closes at 4:30 pm. Arboretum members are admitted free. Admission is $7 for adults, $5 for seniors (62 and over), $5 for students with ID,and $2.50 for children 5- 12. Children under 5 are admitted free. Parking is free. The Arboretum is a 127-acre botanical garden and historical site jointly operated by the Los Angeles Arboretum Foundation and the Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation. For more information, call 626-821-3222. Anyway the location is pretty close to San Gabriel City (about 15 minutes, according to yahoo maps). San Gabriel San Gabriel Square Mall 140 W. Valley Boulevard San Gabriel, CA 91776 Phone: 626/280-0786 Fax: 626/280-7597 Visit the 12-acre San Gabriel Square mall, sometimes called “The Emerald City” or “Chinese Disneyland”, at Del Mar Avenue and Valley Boulevard. I propose we set the meeting time at 10:00 am on Saturday, March 25th. Maybe we could do the LA Arboretum in the morning, and then lunch in San Gabriel Square Mall followed by shopping. Then possibly dinner ? Here is are a few local hotels for those coming from out of town: Century Inn The Hilton Budget Inn Garden Inn You will have to call for reservations.
12. I want to add they seemed to be happy when we showed them the keepsake marriage certificate, which seems to adds merit to my theory.
13. David, you can choose to believe what ever makes you feel better. Obviously having multiple certified copies of the Marriage Certificate is the best option. I did ask why, they could not elborate, therefore I cannot say why. All I can say, its the government -- do you really trust them 100% ? (I'll save my scepticism for them, not you). I don't think it is a case of securing the packet in anycase. I can tell you that when we brought the Certified copy to the Infopass appointment, the officer did not think it was a marriage certificate. Therefore I my working theory is that they want to something with "Marriage Certificate" printed on it (which our keepsake "marriage certificate" does).
14. Right from the horse mouth: Copies of the original Marriage Certificate are accepted.
15. USCIS recieved my RFE information day.... I guess we'll see if they wanted the Certified copy (Infopass appointment is on Friday, at which time I will bring in my certified copy.) Double whammi - hit'em with a left, and then come back with a strong right....
16. I made an infopass appointment. The phone help was very much less then helpfull. Actually very mean people answering the phones there.
17. What I read is that "copies are sufficient, but be prepared to bring the original to your interview". I have already sent the copies to them. I suppose that means I will be getting another RFE if they want the original. I will go ahead and order 2 additional copies of the marriage certificate. I am still going to call tomarrow and ask for clarification, I will post the results of the conversation.
18. They may be wanting an original instead of a copy, you might want to check to see how long it takes to get certified copies in your locale. 186458 I hope not, I call make a call to them and ask them.... Another original would take about a month to get.
19. No, I only sent copies. I still have the embossed (certified) copy. I keeping on to that like Fort Knox. I really don't know what the heck they are smoking, but I may want some.
20. What the holy heck ? I submitted our AOS package with our Marriage Cerificate , and the other day I get an RFE from the local CIS office requesting the Marriage Certificate. What the holy heck ? I submitted another copy for them, both sides. I also put in a copy of the "for looks" marriage cerificate. Make you wonder....
21. I would like to come, but cannot make it this time. On the flip side, the LA parade is the 4th...
22. Merry Christmas / Happy holidays to everyone, and to all a very happy new year. I already got a very early Christmas gift in Sept. -- Thank you once again GUZ !
23. David -- Looks like we are on the same track. We got our NOA1 on the 23rd, and "NOA2" on the 25th (the finger print notice).
