  1. I have had my share of speeding tickets, and guess what -- I deserved them. Why, because guess what -- I was speeding. Go Figure. Get over it. If they pull you over they have a damn good reason for it whether you agree or not. I think I know why you would prefer to stay in China, because according to you -- you can get away with criminal activity you wouldn't be able to hear. Be careful what you wish for, I hear those Chinese jails are worse then the Mexican ones. TROLL !!!! And no I am not a COP, just a law abiding citizen (except for those speeding tickets).
  2. I found the form, and related instruction. For reference: http://visarite.com/Chinese_Passport_Name_Amendmant.htm STEP 1 - Make Sure Your Passport is Amendable You must hold a regular passport, such as 1992 version or 1997 version. Service Passport or Passport for Public Affairs can not be extended. Click for Chinese passport samples. Your passport must be in good condition, not damaged. There are still blank visa pages in your passport. STEP 2 - Put Together Application Materials (1) Your Passport That Needs To Be Amended Also make one photo copy of following pages: the page with your name & photo, most recent China exit stamp, most recent US entry stamp, most recent US visa (if any). (2) One recent passport-type photograph (color photo only, computer print-out not acceptable) (3) Chinese Passport Amendment Application H-1 Form (Do not use pencil or pen with red ink.) http://visarite.com/images/Chinese_Passport/China_H1.pdf 4) Proof of Lawful Entry into the U.S. A notarized photocopy of your Green Card. Or a copy of most recent US visa A notarized photocopy of your Marriage Certificate or Court Order of Name Change. vistarite can be the intermediary for the name change, see thier site. Personally, I am going to the consulate. The consular fee varies depending of speed of service -- between $10 and $40.
  3. That an idea, but if we could take care of it here prior to the trip then I think it would be less worrisome and less complicated. As I mentioned, I know there is a form to present the Chinese consular to do this. We live somewhat close to the LA Chinese Consulate, so it would be better to take care of it here. Besides, we will have a baby in tow in China -- we have a Nanny to help us care of her here.
  4. I am not sure which forum this should go into, but we need to updated Joanna's Passport to match her green card and Drivers License. We are planning to visit China with the new baby, and I don't want any complications. I know there is a form available to do this, I just don't know what the form is. I would like to have it completed prior to going to the Chinese Consulate. Thanks in advance! Jason.
  5. I think we had 5 of various sizes, plus twp backpacks. One backpack for me, the rest for her :0
  6. I still like broadvoice.com -- with a flat rate of $22.00 (plus taxes) -- we can call just about anywhere for free -- except cell phones ( 2 cents per minute to China ). Our bill has never been over $30.00. We could even get a 1-800 for those in the US to call us free.
  7. Most dating sites are riddled with fraud including chnlove, match, AFF, etc. chlove charges $5-$6 for each email, therefore to send and read a reply is $10-$12. If you pay them $1000 it might be $3.00 each. Chlove says the lady doesn't pay a penny. They "plant" non real ladies just to get emails going and get revenue. I communicated with someone there only to find her exact same picture with completely different profile and age on other sites. She refused to email on non chlove site, you figure. Match.com is the worst as it is the biggest in U.S. probably. Fraud there is easy to spot and I had Match.com delist several fraud ladies. In China many dating sites charge large fees to the ladies guaranteeing them "richer" contacts. 60,000 RMB owed by Thomas Promise wife seems reasonable to me since he said he wrote couple thousand letters or so. I believe organized crime runs many dating services or at least uses the sites to extort money from unsuspecting single men. I have many stories to tell so write me if you have questions. It is best to find English speaking lady and call her immediately to talk to her on the phone. Something is wrong if they don't want you to call even if they say they speak very little English. The dating sites like Match.com are in it for the money so they have no interest in preventing fraud as long as someone pays them. Only when someone complains like me will they delist the fraud listing. I can tell canned email response easily and match.com has no problem removing the listing that is obviously fraud. Not all are fraud however, but I found that at least 50% of match.com response was fraud, chlove 25% fraud, AFF 35% fraud. Agreed after initial contact, and getting to know each other we switched to phone contact and private emails. That was about 1 month after. I don't feel that I was ripped. I think I got a deal frankly.
  8. Joanna used chnlove.com -- she paid 5000 RMB to the local Guangzhu branch. I later also found her profile on blossoms.com. I think these agencies actually post several profiles to several sites to increase the odds in their favor. There was some kind of guarantee to meet a guy -- i.e. return of all monies within a certain period of time. They never asked for anything more from her. On my end they charged something on the order of $3.00 per letter. I was pretty happy with the whole deal. I cannot complain.
  9. Here is a good link: http://faq.visapro.com/Tourist-Visa-FAQ6.asp
  10. Joanna took to the washer and dryer pretty much like a fish to water. Although there was some discussion of hanging clothes to begin with. That quickly ended after I taught her how to use them. The dish washer: also pretty good -- but I have to pre-wash everything fairly well.
  11. http://www.visarite.com/Chinese_Passport_Name_Amendmant.htm looks very promising, but I will check with the local chinese consulate.
  12. I checked out the post by Don, and it would seem that I would need to extend her passport to change her name. However, her passport is still good for several years yet. My question, is what is the step-by-step process including fees, ect. that we would need to do to change her name in her passport. Thanks in advance.
  13. Well I think congrats are in order. Now just sit back and relax by the mailbox for the green card...
  14. OK Jason, here is what I know. Jen and I will be heading to Disneyland for the day on the 24th. As for meeting for dinner, that is really up to who else can attend and at what time people are available. I anticipated listening for out cell that will be with us uless a time could be set in stone. Jason, you mentioned something about 7:30 which would be fine. If there are no objections, I could live with that. Only thing I am truly interested in the park is the fireworks if I can learn the time for that.(profesional cuiosity) If anyone else will be free duing the day and would be interested in joining Jen and I in the park, give me a PM or e-mail and we can coordinate that. Otherwise, I'd say Rainforest at Downtown Disney between 7:00 and 7:30. 199905[/snapback] See you at the lobby of the Rainforest cafe around 7 ~ 7:30. If I recall, I believe fireworks are around 10 pm. It will be printed in the 'things to do/see/map' you get when you enter Disneyland....
