Trigg
Yup, it can be done. Windows XP has a built in program with a PRC chninese keyboard. well actually you type in pinyin and it puts up chinese charactors. Link to comment
boba
There is also a Chinese Yahoo. It is www.yahoo.com.cn Link to comment
Dan R
Yahoo chat is fine or any other chat page she may have used in China. Her China email if she had one is easily accessable. As Trigg said the XP windows soft keyboard that is built in for Chinese enables typing email, word processor, chat or anything else. Sohu.com, Tom.com, 163.net can all be used as well as local city and sheng chats I have found on line. I use the sites to learn reading Chinese. The pin yin input soft keyboard will let her enter search in Chinese for Google and she will have the same access as if she was in China. You can select Chinese for Yahoo.com as well giving her the U.S. news, etc. in Chinese. Link to comment

Phil & Ningning
I've never had any luck typing Chinese characters in Yahoo messenger. It works very well with MSN 6.2 though. Link to comment
cosmiclobster
most versions of windows have the capability to type in multiple languages. You need the appropriate IME (Input Method Editor) Öйú£¬ÉϺ£ and you can enter chinese characters, but you must also change your encoding settings to view the chinese characters properly. Good Luck!!! Dan R
Simplified is the form used in China, Taiwan still uses traditional. Some of the choices will list it as PRC. Link to comment
