pkfops
my dad's doing the atkins diet.. he lost 60 pounds....I use the induction to turn the "fat storage" switch off. After eating the traditional Thanks Giving meal I only ategreen salads and clear broth with about 4oz of meat tolower my glucose for three days. I survived and did not hurt anybody's feelings. The way asians dine and the way americans dine is also a key. Americans will fill a plate and stuff their face, as Asians will putrice in a bowl and add small portions of meat and vedgetables; a more social way of dining. Next time your at your American chinese resturant, check out howthe americans eat; rather barbaric isn't it. When I return from a trip to China, I always notice how many fatpeople there are here in the US. It's wierd........ Link to comment
eeyore
When I return from a trip from China, I always notice how many fatpeople there are here in the US. It's wierd........Yep, America has an obesity problem for sure and its getting worse with younger people and children getting heaver too. Exercise and a good diet are key but it has to be maintained for a long period of time. Just think, if you are at a normal weight at the age of 25 or so and gain 5 lbs every year and keep it on. At the age 45 one could conceivably be 100 lbs over weight. I think there is another misconception given by the food industry, the term diet food is somewhat an oxymoron, Food for the most part of any kind does not help you loose weight. Marketing a food product for an over weight person is like telling a lung cancer patient to smoke light cigarettes to help cure cancer. Cigarettes = cancer and food = weight. There is really no way around it. I know that there are other factors but overeating is the main way to overweight. I currently to not have a weight problem and have never had one but as a rule I do not over-eat and eat fairly healthy. I let myself go hungry when I begin to gain any weight, even just a little weight gain and I feel unhealthy. I don't beleive believe in 3 squares a day either. I only eat when necessary, once one becomes overweight that does not work though because you become hungry all the time. just my 2 cents for whatever its worth. Link to comment

Excersize is much better for you... and it's easy if you get into a routine. I do yoga 4 times a week and lift weights and run twice a week.. I eat whatever and stay the same weight. Link to comment
beijingjenny
Actually, I think I eat more in China because I have no idea how much I'm eating, thanks to the social way of eating (which by now seems the most natural way - to share). With one plate, at least you know how much it is! And people here can eat a LOT, but there are just less bad carbs and fats, oiliness aside. Link to comment
