slw268
The Few. The Proud. The Marines Gosh, I hope John doesn't become aggressive Confident, self-assured, yesbut aggressive? No No one stands out greater than a confident man. He'll do fine.I know, thank you. I was gently trying to steer away from a macho image and more towards the greater picture of who John is becoming. I realize it is difficult to separate the man from the gun, or from someof the nastier history and reputation of our Armed Forces. Nevertheless, I am extremely proud of the Herculean feats that John isaccomplishing and the maturity he is learning. I also like telling him, "I told you so!" Link to comment

slw268
John has transferred to the rifle range for that part of training. He is concerned, but I know he'll pass.He says it's actually boring now. They make you sit in the same positionfor hours (painful position) and not even get to fire.Mostly he wants it over and he wants to come home. That will be the acid test. Some might remember that there was a big problem with Johnbefore he left. Seems to me things will be different when hecomes home. That is what I want to see. Anyway, just an update. He's doing fine. When I know more, so will you. Link to comment
slw268
John is in the Top 10 of his class on the rifle range. One month to go!He has shown dramatic change in his letters.Calls me 'Sir' I'll tell ya, when I look at the way things are goingin this crazy ole' world, and I see this skinny little Chinese kidwith a bad back and limited language abilities becoming a Marinewith pride and love for his adopted country . . .Well Ladies and Gentlemen, there just ain't words.Except maybe Thanks to the members here who supportedus during our quick and relatively easy visa process. Robert S.
That is outstanding the way he did so well at the rifle range, it sounds like he shot Expert, which is not easy to do at all. That 500 yard target is incredibly far away when you look in your sights. Link to comment

Zhou Zhou
500 yard, slow fire in the prone position...each round must skillfully be focused on individually. Relax, breathe, hold 'um and squeeze 'um. Link to comment
