Gosh, I hope John doesn't become aggressive :o

Confident, self-assured, yes

but aggressive? No

No one stands out greater than a confident man. He'll do fine.

I know, thank you.

I was gently trying to steer away from a macho image and more towards

the greater picture of who John is becoming.

I realize it is difficult to separate the man from the gun, or from some

of the nastier history and reputation of our Armed Forces.

Nevertheless, I am extremely proud of the Herculean feats that John is

accomplishing and the maturity he is learning.

I also like telling him, "I told you so!"

John has transferred to the rifle range for that part of training.

He is concerned, but I know he'll pass.

He says it's actually boring now. They make you sit in the same position

for hours (painful position) and not even get to fire.

Mostly he wants it over and he wants to come home.

That will be the acid test.

Some might remember that there was a big problem with John

before he left. Seems to me things will be different when he

comes home. That is what I want to see.

Anyway, just an update. He's doing fine.

When I know more, so will you.

John is in the Top 10 of his class on the rifle range. :D

One month to go!

He has shown dramatic change in his letters.

Calls me 'Sir'

I'll tell ya, when I look at the way things are going

in this crazy ole' world, and I see this skinny little Chinese kid

with a bad back and limited language abilities becoming a Marine

with pride and love for his adopted country . . .

Well Ladies and Gentlemen, there just ain't words.

Except maybe Thanks to the members here who supported

us during our quick and relatively easy visa process. ;)

Congrats to him on his placement on the rifle range. I hear those jarheads take pride in that. He ain't no 'boy' any more that's for sure.

How's his grandparents and family back in the PRC taking this?

Yeah, he's really pumped about it.

His Grandparents are very proud of him.

His father is also proud and keeps sending me gifts for

doing a great job with John. :D

That is outstanding the way he did so well at the rifle range, it sounds like he shot Expert, which is not easy to do at all. That 500 yard target is incredibly far away when you look in your sights.

Well, he already has squinty eyes, so it's no wonder! :P
