usaRichard
If you want to check out the French Quarter, you can tour theformer residences of Sun Yat-sen and Zhou Enlai. The area is a bit less crowded. http://www.lonelyplanet.com/china/shanghai/sights/369555 http://www.travelchinaguide.com/attraction...sun-yat-sen.htmThanks PK, we had only one day left in Shanghai and we decided to go to Suzhou. Took a boat tour, saw some good sights but could have been better with more time (always the case, right) before we left we found a place to walk along in the early evening that was nice (see photo). Went to a small place to eat, ordered, and before we could sit down the resturant flooded with people, I have never seen anything like this, they were a tour group from Hong Kong, it went from a nice quiet atmosphere to a loud bar like roar, but the food was good. http://i350.photobucket.com/albums/q408/ltbadd/IMG_0587.jpg Edited November 26, 2008 by amanda1969 (see edit history)

paula
I have not been here for long long time, but having seen your pictures, I almost cry now. I miss China, and have been here almost for 2 years at the end of this Dec, never back China to have a look. Now I have time, but my son is still in school, it seems I never get enough time to fly back.

usaRichard
It is Friday evening here and starting to snow, wife says it will be about 12¡ã F here tonight, but it is warn in our apartment. Thanksgiving has come and gone, and I am thankful to be in China with the wife, son and her family. That's as close to an American thanksgiving I got and I have no complaints. Will try to get some pics tomorrow of Harbin in the snow, and here's one last shot from Shanghai. We went shopping and then dinner with the family. It is cold here and waiting for a bus or taxi is about as long as I want to spend standing outside, but it would be nice to see some snow. Dennis143
Richard, you have that dazed, deer-caught-in-the-headlights look on your face in those photos. I can only guess it's from all day shopping. Many of us have that look on our faces this weekend. Thanks for taking time to share with us.

It was brutal, but we survived the employees who the moment you cross the threshold into the store (or booth) want to show you all they have, or maybe they know enough English to say "hello" or "hello sir" Heaven forbid you might look at something twice, this only encourages them to be intolerable. When I shop I want to be left alone until I am ready to buy or have a question, so I do not do so well shopping here, but I do try to have fun with them.
