it does seem interesting. i wonder if he got on the wrong bus accidentally or if someone took him. by the time he got out of ningxia any information he could provide about his name and hometown would have been useless if he didn't know what province/autonomous region he came from. i doubt china had a centralized database of missing children at the time. does anybody know if they do now? They are just setting it up now. It is really a outrage here on this issue. It is not just missing children! There are groups that steal children from their parents, for instance, in Dongguan, over a thousand got stollen and sold to others all over the country. The government is setting up a DNA bank to try identify the missing children and crack down on trafficing but not doing nerely enough. Thank god there are over 10 thousand volunteers now actively helping the police, some posting as buyer and try catch the human trafficers. One guy actually "bought" over 40 babies, resulting in lots of arrests. But it is far from sufficient from stopping it. The worst is some buy them and cut off an leg or arm or otherwise deform the children and force them into begging. Each time I see those deformed children on the side walk my heart sank. It could be my baby if they steal her. The only way to solve the problem is to set up a private organization, and with the police turning a blind eye, take care of business. When I was a little girl, I was told by my parents to memorize my parents name, home address and other detail information about my family. i was tired of remembering all of these. When I have my own son, I did what my parents did on me. When I visited Bejing with son in March this year, son always grasped my arms in order not be lost. And even when we got to the U.S, I told my son many times about our house address in English and telephone number. I believe China should set up strict law to punish people who steal kids.

Husband made a plan which a lot of things would be done. I will post more later.

My son got his green card on August 25 which was his first day to go to middle school in Clearwater, FL. He is struggling his language at school. But he said all of the teachers are nice and he has started to say something to Richard in English, which made Richard very happy. Amanda

Cool ! I thought of POE by ocean cruise. After POE, stay at home waiting for green card by mail. During waiting , your wife can go to local SSN office for applying for SSN and it will get to her by mail too. Amanda

Congratulations! On the same day, you got a wonderful email while I got my green card both from USCIS. Amanda

Amanda, From one Chinese woman to the other! My feeling? 1. I miss my family and REAL Chinese food.(I felt the same! The food you can get from Chinese market and cook your self) (don't worry about husband?) 2.I am eager to have a job to feel myself useful to sociaty. I am not sure what visa you are in U.S. from but i understand how you feel. I was in U.S. for one month and had no job, Relax! you will fine something soon. ( Your husband will take care of you) Just enjoy your new life. I came to the U.S with CR1 visa. Husband likes Chinese food. Everyday I cook Chinese food twice for lunch and dinner.

Hello all, I have been in the U.S for one month since July 18,2009. Husband has done wonderful job to make son and me adjust well. The list can show what we went through during the past month: 1.Son has got his welcome notice by mail from USCIS but I have not got either welcome notice or green card. B) 2.Son and I have got SSN by mail. 3.Son will go to his middle school next week. He is looking forward to going back school and making new friends. 4.Husband has added me on our bank account. I will get my debit card next week. 5.Husband has helped me to apply for my ID card which I will get within 30 days. 6.Husband teaches me to drive. My feeling? 1. I miss my family and REAL Chinese food. 2.I am eager to have a job to feel myself useful to sociaty. Amanda in USA

everyone has their own idea for this, my idea is that two or three representative chats each month would suffice...ours were never even asked for...but i am sure if we didn't have any, then they would be asked for....same goes for e-mail, a couple of representave emails for each month...for the chats, i also used several "print screen" sheets that would show the use of webcam and also dialogue.....VO's are like Forrest Gumps box of chocolates....you never know which one you will get or what questions they will ask or what eveidence they will want to see, so is best to prepare for everything...and even then, there is always that curve ball they may throw at you and ask for something or a question that no one can anticipate....the best advise i can give is that no matter how much stuff your gal takes to the interview, it must be very well organized so that when the VO asks to see something, your gal can produce it very quickly without having to rummage through too much stuff....they are on a short time frame to get all the info from your gal and will not bat an eye by giving a blue or white slip just because of your being disorganized I would agree, a small sample for each month, we had all these and they were never asked for, now we have them for future memories. Wife did a good job to arrange them in several book/folders and it makes a good presentation. Yes, but to my surprise, the VO did not ask for showing either emails or telephone recording or even did not want to see any photos. They are beautiful memories since I brought them to our house.

Husband and I have just bought numbers for our mail box from "LOWES". I am looking forward to getting good news tomorrow.

I am really frustrated because of greencards. As far as I know, Some chinese women have got green cards even after they got to U.S.A later than me. I told husband our house mail box needs house number on it. B)

Yes she knows that, she is just anxious to have the green card As long as the green card would not turn into a green hat(ÂÌñ×Ó£©, ha ha ha. By the way, who knows what a green hat means in Chinese? Amanda Amanda! I hope you don't get green hat! I will have to fly down and help Richard get over the shock! BTW, Weiwei got her green card today! I told husband he would not get any chance to have green hat.

I am in the same situation, my wife never drove before, she's been here 3 weeks and we've started the practicing. I can see myself in some of the situations you guys talk about, she is learning to drive, I am instructing in English and she is trying to convert my instructions to Chinese...she needs more bandwidth! Yes, i do. But when I was learning to drive, I concentrated what I should, he instructed and spoke quickly in English as if I was a person whose mother tongue was English. Besides, I do not understand many words about driving because driving words are different from other words. Even if I get a chinese to teach me in chinese I still need time to learn and reflect meanings let alone english.I know I need more to learn... Amanda, a few well placed mop slaps will get Richard to be more patient and talk slower. In fact, the more whacks...the s l o w e r he will talk. He is patient. Besides, so far I have not found any mop in our house. He might hide it brfore I moved to USA.
