I posted the following on another site and got an opinion but would like to see if anyone has anything different to say.

I met my girl on a website called chineselovelinks.com. I sent a message to Chineselovelinks asking if they were an IMB after not being able to find any info on their website. Below is their response.

Thank you for contacting us.

Please be advised that section 4 B (ii) of IMBRA exempts dating companies whose principal business is not to provide dating services between US citizens and foreign nationals so long as it charges comparable rates and offers comparable services to all individuals regardless of gender or country of citizenship. Consequently our company is exempt as it falls within this exemption (as do many other large dating companies).

Full information regarding IMBRA can be found at http://usaimmigrationattorney.com/images/IMBRA2005.pdf

It appears to me that they do not fall under the act but I want to be 100% sure when I file my 129F. Any comments, suggestions or direction would be appreciated. Thank you, Max

My SO and I also met on this sight. I am glad this clears my question about IMBRA up.

My wife and I met on that very site (Chineselovelinks) and, while we are currently working to get a visa out of our "blue slip", the manner in which we met was never an issue. Scores (probably hundreds) of couples have met on that site and there have never been any questions about it being an IMB, to the best of my knowledge.

My guess is that the IMB law seeks to identify companies that charge a fee for introducing specific individuals ~ like a "match-maker" might have done in years past. Their thinking is probably that they fear companies that link up two specific individuals are actually acting as marriage brokers, and getting money when the couples they introduce get married, and also, perhaps, when the foreign spouse gets a green card. So, they are, in effect, selling green cards.

On sites such as Chineselovelinks, the company simply leaves the "meeting" to the individuals, and only charges a fee so you can access the contact information of the people you like. Such sites are no more a marriage broker than "happy hour" at a bar would be. You pay the cover charge and you get a chance to charm anyone you can manage to.

Don't fret, Tony n Terrific.

Sounds like this is pretty popular site. Thanks to everyone who replied to this message. I feel much more confident about IMB now. I just wish I could get the address problem resolved to a point where I feel more comfortable.

Hi Max,

I also met my wife on this site & the whole IMBRA thing came out after I filed my original I-129... when I was sent the RFE asking if we met through an IMB, it was less clear to me at the time what an IMB truly was, so I answered YES to the question along with an additional letter stating that I didn't really think it was an IMB, but since I wasn't sure I thought it was safer to say yes & supply an explanation than say no & be wrong.

Long story short, we received her Visa with no problems. They did ask Zhen where we met, she said 'Chineselovelinks.com' and that was it about that. Now though, I do think you'd be safe to say No as it doesn't meet the criteria of an IMB as stated above. Best of luck!
