roundtrip vs one way

Hi All

i am buying plane ticket for my inlaws to come to US. i was told that i have to buy round trip ticket, else US custom agent will refuse the entry. is this right? my inlaws have been granted for 6mo visitor visa.

 

please help.

If you are not sure of the return date, you can buy a ticket with

an "Open Return Date".

 

Check the Cathy Pacific site.

 

As far as Customs; I have no knowledge on the subject.

If they have a valid visa, as far as I know, they should be able to buy a one way ticket.

If it was the ticket agency that told you this, look into another ticket agency!

They "can't" refuse a legal ticket...one way or round trip as grounds for not letting them into the country. But, they will find other grounds if they are not sure that your in-laws will be returning home. An open-ended ticket is a good idea if you are not sure how long they will be staying.

how do i buy a open return tickets? has anyone had problem before entering US with oneway ticket from China? my inlaws already got the visa to US, and i don't understand how one-way or roundtrip ticket would affect their entry at airport.

I have been able to get an open ended ticket by just asking for it. A round trip should be a lot cheaper than 2 one ways.

I don't know what cities or when the travel is needed.

 

I looked up round trip Guangzhou to Los Angeles one way is about $600.

Round trip was $975.

 

You will need the return ticket anyway and it is cheaper to get round trip.

The travel agent I used is out of business but I flew KAL and had no trouble getting the return when I wanted it.

I just checked on Flychina.com. it costs $1600 for GZ to Bos roundtrip ticket. the price is pretty steep.

 

has anyone had any luck using elong or ctrip to book round trip ticket from China to US. I tried to call them last night, and neither were able to find flight for me between GZ to Boston.

Next cheapest is Continental for $708.
