Please post Name, Address and cost of Civil Surgeons you may have had a bad experience or good experience. For example a K-Visa holder adjusting within a year of medical for visa interview should only need vaccination portion of I-693 done NOT a FULL medical. Note CR-1 and IR-1 have this handled before Visa interview so wont deal with the Civil Surgeon in the USA. If adjusting from a visa type like a student visa then a FULL MED is required. My stepson is 14. What medical checks does he undergo? How long does it take? Does he do a TB test and if so does he have to wait three days? He goes to the interview with my wife. What questions do they ask. Any advice is welcome.

I was looking at a copy of ds-3025, and I was wondering which vaccines were actually required. It wasn't specific on whether it was documenting what has been done, or listing what was required. DPT / DT Diphtheria / Pertussis / Tetanus (Pertussis vaccine normally not given to adults) Td Tetanus / Diphtheria booster. Polio (OPV/IPV) Measles (MMR) Mumps (MMR) Rubella (MMR) Hib (influenza Hepatitis B } Varicella (Chicken Pox) Pneumococcal Influenza I know that Pneumococcus (Pneumonia) is only vaccinated for with people over 60 or so. Influenza is normally considered optional. I don't believe that Chicken Pox is a required childhood vaccination yet. Several of these vaccinations require a series of shots. I know that Hepatitis B requires 3 shots over a 6 months period. Polio also requires multiple shots. Should one check the vaccination status early and start updating them if necessary? ----- Clifford ------

My husband and I went for his medical a day after Pkt 4 arrived due to the short time between notice and interview and i'm glad we did as it won't be ready for a few days...Here's some info... 1) Beijing location is very easy to find and is currently located at line 5 HepingLiBeiJie exit A1 300 meters ahead on left (the recording on the phone says they will be moving soon though) 2) No appointment is necessary, you must be fasting (no eating for 12 hours prior), bring your passport and a copy of it, a copy of your appointment letter, and 4 passport photos, arrive between 8 and 10am 3) We arrived around 8:20 (keep in mind my hsband and I speak limited Chinese) and asked the main reception where to go, they told us 4th floor (in chinese), we found a room on the 4th floor with 2 receptionists where they were doing intake. Chairs were lined up with about 4 families waiting. It was our turn within 20minutes. The woman who was behind the computer asked if we speaked Chinese and of course we said a little, but she was scared and shy and called someone that spoke English. They took the passport copy, 3 pictures, copy of the letter, asked our address, phone number, the usuals and directed us to go to the first room. Oh, we also signed authoriztion forms for HIV, TB, X-Ray, etc. tests to be done (Also check the info sheet they type up, there were many mistakes on ours at first!!!!) 4) The first room was the 'physical exam' - though I wasn't allowed inside (doctor escorted me out) my husband said he had to take all his clothes off and that the doctor poked around everywhere. he then asked medical history in chinglish. The doctor gave a thumbs up and off to the next place we went 5) Next was payment - payment is taken on the first floor and they take the print out that the doctor in the physical exam gave us (has vaccination requirements listed). my husband paid about 1,300RMB for the exam, lab work, and vaccinations. This fee varies depending on the vaccinations needed and I also know that the childrens exams are more expensive as well. 6)Next started the fun part, weaving in and out of a Chinese hospital going from room to room, floor to floor. If you've ever went through a PSB visa exam it's the same kind of procedure. Bloodwork, urine, ultrasound, ECG, ENT, Dental, Vaccination, X-ray,vision. 7) We finished and handed the paperwork in and they said it will be done for pick up on Monday (We did the exam on a Wednesday) Though the procedure was pretty painless, my husband was pretty tired and hungry by the time we were done. He also said his arms and body ached (from vaccinations) later in the day. The only thing that threw us was that he has to return for 2 more vaccinations before his paperwork can be issued. They said we can come, tomorrow, the next day, or Monday as long as they are given before we get the papers. I am happy we planned ahead as it seems the Beijing medical check results don't come as fast as they do at the other places available for the medicals to take place. PS - language was not a problem, as humans we seem to be able to act out things pretty well if verbal communication isn't understood!

I have read on here before that people went to have their medical exam in Guangzhou a couple days before their interview and that this was fine. However when we received our packet 4, in the information I saw this "You must go to the designated panel physician to have your examination at least two weeks before your visa interview appointment date." Has anyone else experienced this? Is this a new rule? We do not live that close to Guangzhou and were hoping to avoid having to make another trip there just for the medical exam. I was hoping someone who has interviewed since the March 16th changes could clear this up for me. Thanks in advance

Hi all. My general family doctor is also a US Civil Surgeon. I made an appointment with his office to take my wife there for her vaccinations. Since she already had her physical in March for the K1 requirement, I contacted the Dr. and his office manager and let them know that we wont need another physical. He said he is certain we do need another physical in addition to the vaccinations. Any one experience this before and if so, how did you handle it? We clearly don't need another physical but he seems to think we do. Any help is apprecitated thanks

Hi all. We have been back in the US and married for about 10 days now. As we are now looking to start working on the AOS, is there something I need to do prior to filing? One thing that comes to mind is do we need to start getting her name added to power bill accounts, phone bills, bank account...etc to show proof that she and I live together? Appreciate the help thanks Don

Hi everyone: I appreciate your help. My wife completed her medical examination and all vaccinations in China (Guangdong Int'l Travel Healthcare Center) as part of her K-1 Visa. The hospital gave her a sealed envelope AND a bag full of other stuff; including Form DS3025 and a sealed CD which was separate from the sealed envelope. At the K-1 Document Intake, she gave them all things but they only took the sealed envelope. The person told her 'america might want to see the DS3025 and CD' when she arrive to USA. However, at POE, SFO immigration did not ask to see any medical so we still haver this sealed CD and DS3025. (she was expedited through SFO immigration in less than 2 minutes by the way. ....) Now, we are looking to complete the AOS and I am so confused on what to do. I understand that since we completed the vaccinations in China that we dont need to do it again here, but do we still need to see a civil surgeon to certify the DS3025 (and sealed CD?) and complete the I-693 just for vaccinations? Or do we just give the DS3025 (and CD?) with the AOS package with no I-693? This is so confusing because the i-693 instructions say we dont need to see a civil surgeon but it doesn't say what K-1 needs to give to the AOS. Also, I perused the pinned thread and the info there wasnt wasn't clear to me on what someone with in our situation (unsealed DS3025/sealed CD£©should do. Please advise. Also, assuming we need to see a civil surgeon, would her primary care physician from my health insurance = a Civil Surgeon, or do we need to see somebody special?
