  1. Welcome to CFL, Hong. I do not post much but I do like to read about other Chinese women's perspective on things. Once again welcome.
  2. Our check was cashed about a week after sending it in also. We just got the biometrics done yesterday. Our appointment was at 3 and was out of there by 3:15. Good luck
  3. We had our wedding ceremony on my second visit but did not get married legally. We did not have any problems. It was a wonderful experience and it made her and her family very happy.
  4. My wife told me she would loose all of her retirement benefits if she became a USC. She is keeping her Chinese citizenship. FYI, I think that BofA is owned by the Chinese government. Just what I heard so not for sure.
  5. They will not issue a birth certificate if you are not married
  6. Welcome to CFL and congratulations on the baby. We were in a similar situation and did not have any problems. You only have a short time but read as much as you can on CFL. Make her as comfortable on the plane as possible. Buy a widow seat and an isle seat so that there will be a good possibility the seat in the middle will be empty. I assume you are with her now.
  7. ¡°The most dirty and run down place that I ever stayed¡± Quote from my Lao Po who lived in rural China most of her life.
  8. Sorry to hear about the problem with getting your SSN. I learned from CFL that it takes 10 days for them to get her arrival entered into the computer system. I can not imagine what could be wrong at the USCIS. All they needed from us at the SSA office was the I-94, her passport, and her birth certificate. You should try a different SSA office. It is definitely not true that you have to get married first. This is a good place to start to learn about the AOS process. http://candleforlove.com/FAQ/CFL_FAQ_AOS_Final1.htm We will also start concerning ourselves about this soon. We entered the US on July 5th Got married on July 10th Applied for Jianli's SSN July 16 Got her number the next day Got her SS card in the mail around July 23rd Applied for her new SS card with her new last name on July 28th Got her new card on July 31st
  9. First I want to thank all the Cfl members. This is the best site on the net. We arrived in Guangzhou from Shenzhen at 2 pm the day before and it was raining very hard. She got her medical exam done two weeks ago. We checked in our room with Mr.Yang. I can not recommend staying in any of his appartments. It was the worst place I have ever stayed. There are too many negative things to list here. We met up with Roger and June who had their interveiw on the 30th also. We ate dinner with them and later compared notes in our room. That helped a lot. They are very nice people. We did not get any sleep that night because the baby moved so much that she thought for sure something was wrong. This is Jianli's account that she posted on 001: I prepared a full backpack of files for the interview, but only tax return of 2007 was used. However, I still feel it¡¯s better to have more than what the Vo might ask for. Jeff and I read a lot about other experience and prepare anything that newly demanded my Vo. I even bring Jeff¡¯s Birth Certificate. We did prepared more than enough. Jeff and I got to Consulate about 7 and got inside about 8, then I sit in the hall waiting to call my name. They first call the name of each applicant, the purpose is to unseal the parcel. Meanwhile, they¡¯ll ask a few questions. I was asked whether I have been abroad before, which country and how long? Have I ever been to Hong Kong and Macau? Am I Communist Party Member? How long have I been pregnant? After unseal the parcel, I got a number. I sit back and waited to call my name to have finger prints. After finger prints will be interview. I came out the consulate at 10:10am, so I had interview at 10 I guess. Ok, here¡¯s my Interview: Me: Good Morning Vo:Good Morning. How are you?(smile) Me:Not well, the baby moved a lot last night which makes me worry a lot, but it's better now Vo:(smile)Ok, your passport? Me: Here's My passport. People started coming down from the interview soon after 9. I then stood by the excalator to wait. There was a lot of blues, apparently from non-cfl members because they seemed very confused even with simple things. June came down first with a pink slip. Jainli soon followed with a pink of her own. We were all so excited! We took our pictures with our pink slips showing. We was planning on staying in Guangzhou but decided to come back to her home to see a doctor. Everything is ok. Waiting at home to get the visa now. I hope this helps others going through this process.
  10. This is the flight I always take. Non-stop and only 14 hours. We both plan to leave from there July the 5th
  11. It would not hurt to have your SO give you an invitation letter in both Chinese and English. Have his government ID number and phone number on it and whatever else you think could help in your situation. Have him sign it in Chinese and pinyin. Scan it and email it to you. That is what we did. It does not take much time and does not cost anything. You never know what might be happening as you are entering the country. These are crazy times even for China. I can post our letter if it helps.
  12. Thanks so much for your best wishes. I can hardly think of much else. Jianli is very anxious also. She just got back home in Shenzhen after getting her medical exam. Everything is completed and in good order, just waiting now. Soon I will be in leaving for my 5th visit. I will try to give a detailed report of our interview experience. Good luck to those before us and after! Jeff

  15. I guess karma would explain all the earthqukes in California then. It just shows that the Hollywood elitists are just as ignorant about world politics as they are about American politics.
  16. It sure would be nice if we could exchange our dates.
  17. Good Luck Jin. I will pray for you
  18. We hope that we will have the interview in June. We would be happy to meet up with anyone that happens to be there while we are. Good Luck everyone
  19. I have read you many times. I hope everyone enjoys this. We all need a break going through this process
  20. My son, Francis Norton, made a webpage about our community a couple of years ago. I am very proud of him. I have just bought the house with the "view" and I am becoming very anxious for her arrival. Please let me know what you think. Thanks in advance. Oh yes, I forgot, here is the link http://mytrailerpark.com/
  21. I am not sure but I think you are supposed to send a return label with packet 3 so that they can use it to send you package 4
  22. I think it would be very helpful if CFL had something like visajourney to enter our immigration timelines http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/k1list...na&dfile=No
  23. I guess every state is different. In Indiana during the divorce I could have requested that my ex not take the kids out of state if I wanted. I just assumed that taking a child out of the country would be out of the question if both parents did not agree. Jeff
