  1. Hi Randy, Thank you for your prompt reply. I am sorry but let me confirm if I understand you correctly. Does this mean I do not have option to take the cash out from China ? (Cash being RMB or $ - doesn't matter, I can get help from Chinese friends to get this done) I just happen to read your post on another similar topic: http://candleforlove.com/forums/topic/46597-i-need-financial-advice/?p=609608 You mentioned about declaring to customs if you are taking more than 10K $, do you know where and how can I confirm if this can be the option for me. Thank you!
  2. Thank you very much for the post! Although I haven't reached that stage yet (hopefully soon, finger crossed), it will definitely help me as well. Might as well post a follow up question. Thanks and I don't think it is that late to congratulate you as well !
  3. Hey Dave, I hope you are doing well with your studies and have started paying out your debt as well! I found this post only after I have posted similar post regarding taking money out of China. Anyway, I have few more questions there.. It has been over a year since you posted this, I am guessing you did figure out something when you left China. Can you share a bit? Did you eventually declare customs for taking more than 10K? Please let me know how it went. Thank you so much! I only work in one company, I should be able to get the tax certificates as well.
  4. Hi guys, I work here in Beijing and I would like to know my options for taking my money out when I leave Beijing. 1. How do I get my money (income) out of China? If I am not mistaken, I am only allowed to carry 5K $ cash from China - while US airport allows you to carry in like what 10K $? 2. What would I need if it is allowed? Tax certificates? 3. Is bank transfer only way to transfer my money when I leave? If so, what is the limit each time? I am a foreigner so I am sure there will be a lot of restriction for the transfer like 500$ per day or some couple of thousand if you have your tax certificates + employment verification letter. If I am not mistaken even Chinese national are allowed to send like 50K $/ year only? 4. Can someone share the recent information on how much deduction they make in each side for incoming and outgoing transaction for different banks? I need info for sending money from China to US. Thank you all.
  5. Hi All, Need some help.. I started the following topic to know about the average time for the visa process and understood from Randy that it would takes about 2 weeks or so.. http://candleforlove.com/forums/topic/48372-how-long-does-it-take-to-get-passport-and-visa-after-the-interview/?p=626561 I haven't yet been able to find any information on how to get some kind of document which allows me(foreign national) to travel back to Beijing from Guanzhou while I wait for my passport and visa packet Has anyone done this before ? ("This" as in coming back to Beijng while your visa is being processed in Guangzhou)? Or is it that most people would wait in Guangzhou for two weeks until they pick up their visa and passport in Guangzhou CITIC bank pick up centers? For Chinese nationals, of course this is none of their concern since they can travel with within China. I need this information so that I can choose my pick up center Beijing (if I could travel back to Beijing without my passport) or Guangzhou (if I do not have any choice). Any information regarding this is helpful, thank you all in advance!
  6. I checked with this company in Beijing and they mentioned that we could apply to have the certificate of No Criminal Record in both Chinese and English. My questions are: # If we have the document made in Chinese, can we do the translation and notarization from the notary offices like Beijing Fang Yuan ? Will this work to submit to US embassy in Guangzhou? #Or do we have to make the certificate in English? And if I make the certificate in English, does this still need to be notarized from the notary office? Thank you very much in advance! The best information might come from the company itself, or the consulate. I had found the reference to the Shuang Xiong company on the British Embassy website. I see that that link is no longer there, and the Shuang Xiong company no longer has a website. I'm glad to hear that they're still in business, but I have no further information about them. If you can easily get a notarial certificate from the report, that's probably the best way to go. Otherwise, the Shuang Xiong report (with English translation) may be good enough. Just wanted to post what I know now after visiting them to make my police report (hopefully it would help someone looking for the information as well) ShuangXiong company is still in business and works from Mon-Fri. If you tell them you need it for the US embassy, they can make it in English and have it notarized as well >> the "white book" with 公证书 on it. So, that should be enough for the police report from Beijing. I requested for "express" service which cost me 952 RMB !! ( 300 for certificate in English + 352 for Notarization + 300 for express service). Even "express" service takes 8 working days..! and regular charge is 552 RMB for the English document and would need 17 working days...(17 ?!!) What you need: 1. Your current passport + all the passport with your Chinese visa 2. Most recent Temporary residence permit # Do take 2 photo copies of the bio page of the passport # 2 photo copies of your most recent Chinese visa # one copy of each of your previous Chinese visas # You can make photo copies in the Shuang Xiong company itself but they charge 0.5 RMB/per page And, for now..they ONLY take cash for the payment. That's it.
  7. Thank you Randy! Will try to do that. I hope someone who have also done this could share some information as well..
  8. I am a foreign national currently living and working in Beijing. I am currently waiting for the further process from NVC. but my immigrant visa interview will be held in Guangzhou. In order to plan my trip to Guangzhou for my visa interview as I cannot travel out of Guangzhou without my passport, I'd appreciate if anybody could share some information on the following: 1. When the application is approved, normally, how long does the process take in Guangzhou before returning the passport and visa to the selected pick-up location/CITIC bank of the same city? 2. Is there express delivery/process so that I can get my passport and visa earlier? 3. Could it be possible that we get the passport back on the same day of the interview and the visa packet should be picked up later from the pick-up location? Please do share your experience. I'd really appreciate. Thanks in advance!
  9. Hi Randy, I read the information you posted on Chinese documents English translation here: http://candleforlove.com/forums/topic/48295-chinese-essential-documents-white-books/?p=626021 It was very informative. I have some additional questions regarding the following information that was posted in that thread: I checked with this company in Beijing and they mentioned that we could apply to have the certificate of No Criminal Record in both Chinese and English.
