  1. Thanks so much Dan and Tsap Seui! This forum has been a Godsend and I am so grateful as it has helped me to keep a hold of my sanity!
  2. Hi All, Quick question, I am now in the US and have receive my Social Security Card. I am still waiting for my green card though. Am I able to start work with just the Social security card or is there some legal documentation I must provide to prove my elligibility to work in the US. Thanks!
  3. Thank you so much for your comprehensive response Dan!
  4. Hi All, I finally got my passport back after almost 5 weeks and 3 days before we were due to fly. It was extremely nerve wracking and I am so glad it is over. We have successfully moved to the US now and waiting for the green card/social security card. Quick questions, what happens after that. I know I have to change my status to permanent before our 2nd year anniversary, but is there anything I need to be doing now? I also need to travel for a few weeks in September. I believe there is another process involved with this - the I131? Could someone advise as to how this works? Thanks!
  5. Thanks Randy. Yes, I have used that form a couple of times. Still no updates. Still on "issued" status. Almost 4 weeks later and my flight is in 10 days. I despair.
  6. Could I also ask, once the status is updated to "issued" on the CEAC website, are there any further status updates? I went on the CGI Stanley website and called their help number as I am not sure what else I can do. The lady said my case was "abnormal" because her system reflects that the visa was granted on May 29th, and yet the consulate has still failed to update the system to show that the passport has in fact been dispatched. This of course increases my level of concern. I have emailed every form possible and am even now trying to schedule an appointment with the consulate here in Shanghai - doubtful they will be able to help, but I am not sure what else I can do.
  7. Yes, the process has been excruciating. At some point yesterday the status was updated to "issued", which I suppose is a good thing. It just surprises me it has taken this long. From this stage, how do I track my passport? I am concerned because when I go to us traveldocs site it doesn't give any information about my passport, and when I select the "track my passport" option and enter my passport number, the website says "there is no information available for the number entered". Still very nervous since the bank says they have nothing on record and the consulate keeps just telling me to submit a form letter - the operator won't put me through to someone I can actually speak to.
  8. Also, thank you all for the well wishes!! glad to have it done with but just need to get over this last hurdle.
  9. Hello All, I successfully underwent the visa interview May 22nd. Because I am a foreigner living in shanghai, I needed my passport to travel back so did not leave it at the consulate at the time. I resubmitted it through citic bank on Monday 26th May (3 weeks ago). Since the visa was approved (as stated by the interviewer and the letter I was given at the time of the interview), I imagined getting my passport back would be a fairly quick process, but as of now, my status on CEAC is still "administrative processing" (last updated today). My question is really what happens at this stage and why it might be taking so long. If anything further was required would they have let me know?! I am just getting a little anxious because I have a flight booked July 1st. Any insight would be much appreciated.
  10. Hello Everyone, I completed my visa interview on Thursday May 22nd. It went successfully and because I am a foreigner living in Shanghai, I needed my passport to travel back. I then sent the passport back to the consulate via citic back the following Monday (May 26th). Since the visa is already approved, I assumed it would be a pretty quick turn around time between me re-submitting the passport and having it back. It has now been 3 weeks and I am getting a little anxious as we are scheduled to fly on July 1st. Status on CEAC still reads "administrative processing" (most recently updated today). What could be taking so long?! If it gets too close to my departure date without me having it back, any advice on what I should do? Thanks!
  11. Thanks msittig. Yeah better to be safe - I initially thought this might be for locals applying only but have done both in case. Interview in T-6 days Thanks!
  12. Thanks Randy
  13. Hi there, Quick question about documents that need to be prepared for the interview. The above PDF states that we need to provide: "PROOF OF INVESTMENT FUNDS: EB5 (C5, I5, T5, R5) applicants should bring proof that their investment funds have been transferred to an escrow account or made available to the U.S. investment project. " Please could you explain what this means? Thanks!
  14. Hi All, Another quick question about the I-864. My co-sponsor is in the process of completing her copy of the form. Once she is done, does she need to provide anything else? She is sending us a copy of her passport, but I wondered if the documents listed below in another post are also required: a copy of her birth certificate, tax transcripts, pay stubs W2 Thanks!
  15. Thanks for this Randy, we have just submitted his taxes and reading this post makes a whole lot more sense now - so I appreciate the advice as we were initially under the impression that he would need to wait for transcripts. Since he earns below the minimum threshold, his mother will act as co-sponsor. Does that mean she too will need to complete the I-1864? or would it be the I-1864A (we will be living with his mother initially upon our arrival in the US). Thanks again!
  16. Thanks you Randy and msitting - appreciate your feedback on this matter.
  17. Hi all. Thank you for your insightful information on this thread so far. msittig I had a quick question regarding the medical examination, as I too am in Shanghai. I notice that you traveled to Guangzhou for yours but have read elsewhere that there are designated physicians in Shanghai. When the time comes, is it possible for me to do mine here in SH? Also, will I need to leave my passport in GZ after the interview? - I will need it to return to Shanghai.
  18. Thanks Dan. I have just read through again (and more carefully this time - I must have got a little carried away!) and it reads: "Your case is ready for your interview when scheduled at the U.S. Consular section. If you have already scheduled an appointment for an interview, please prepare your documents as directed in your appointment letter and appear at the consulate on the appointed date and time. Otherwise, please wait until you have been notified of your interview appointment. " Since we haven't received a letter or been appointed a time, I assume we must wait until such a time as we have? Thanks again!
  19. Hi All, Turns out that I have just made the exact same realization regarding the DS 260. That field simply does not exist on the form I am trying to complete. I have tried finding the form elsewhere online. Dnoblett, do you mind sharing the link of where you found the form you have screen shotted above? Thanks so much!
  20. Hi folks, I also had a query about the invoice ID number for this form. I thought the order of events was to first fill out the form and then make payment for submission of supporting documentation. As such, I did some research and discovered that the invoice ID # is your date of birth in the sequence of yyyymmdd Hope this helps!
