  1. Thanks, wife says this is older form and thinks she has new form. She is now trying to talk me into going to New York to the Chinese Consolute next week. I may do this.
  2. Is there a way to insert a document here? The one she got is different. Since my Chinese is a big zero I don't know what it says.
  3. Thank you! I think my wife found the same one last night. I will check with her tonight. She was filling out the form last night and will most likely be wanting to go to the bank to have it notorized. Not sure how that is going to go as it seems like I had problems with a notory and the fact she did not know what the Chinese said. Trying to call the New York consolate did no good. She had me type in a Houston consolate in her iPad and she pulled out a form that looks like this one. I hope it is the one. I really appreciate the help!
  4. The discussion on SS spousal benefits was here - http://candleforlove.com/forums/topic/46265-chinese-retirement-income/?p=606179 Thanks, I read the post but did not see anything that would help us. Hope I was clear, my wife did sign up for retirement and has been receiving it for a year. Now she has to have a yearly check in and from reading here needs to prove she is still alive. I sent a PM to a member but have not gotten a reply. My phone shows the PM was not read but here on the website on the computer I can not tell where to go to look at PM reply. I am still guessing I need to download a form from somewhere and have it notarized and faxed to her sister in China but still not able to find where or someone to tell me where to go. Wife is learning how to search on my old iPad which is good for me (helps a lot as communication is bad. She searches in Chinese which does not help me but making progress)
  5. Have read the posts and not finding anything. Thank you for the feedback. Is PM a personal message? I did send another one.
  6. Thanks. I will search later. Maybe that is why she wanted me to call Chinese embassy. I also emailed other member suggested to me. My wife is unable to use internet search so I am stuck finding out how everything works. You people are very helpful.
  7. My wife went to China to sign up for retirement and now needs yearly check in. We have language issues so God bless the rest of you who do. I am not exctally sure what she expects me to do. When I teLl her I am not sure what to do she screams, "you are my husband, you need to helpa me!" I know I have read where others have wives here who do the same thing. She is from Guanzhou (?) Providence. I told her I was going to ask another lady but she told me she lives in another part of China and could not help me. I am always told who not to talk to so I am guessing she does not want the lady to know. I also ask if any one of her family knows someone who knows English I could call and ask what she needs and I get a no. Or if her sister who collects her check could find out what she needs. Supposeably the money goes to her sister but it all sounds suspicious to me. I think this is normal for people to check in every year but any help I could get I would appreaciate. The Google translate I get she shows me on her phone say the Chinese consolate which I will call today but I doubt that will help her. We live in TN and I am going to call the one in New York but I doubt that will work. I asked her if she needs to go to China but she screams no.
  8. I guess I need a letter to invite wife's family to visit. I was hoping they get the visa. Two sisters and two brothers all at once. Kinda looking forward to it and kinda not. Wife's English is not great and of course it is my fault. She has almost got the word president down after a few months. Her family speaks zero English. Anyway, can someone point me to a form letter or place to learn what I need to write? I would think I need to write an invite letter for each. Hoping someone has experience in this. I think three are from Zhanjian and one from Guangzhou.
  9. I went to China to get married. To get married there I had to get a piece of paper that proves you are single. This was not easy to get. I have been married a few times and had to get legal documents about the divorces, send them to the secretary of state in the state I was living in to get notorized, Sent that bunch to The Secretary of the US (good old Hillary signed them) and also to the chinese embasy. I got lucky and a company sent the paper work in and to the Chinese embasy. Then I flew to Guangzhou and went to the US embasy and with my wifes chinese cards I got the elusive single prove paper I took to get married. My wife wanted to get married in China is why I did it that way. I know two people who got married here. Either way I suggest you meet her first if you haven't already done that. And be prepared to have a controlling wife! I love watching the show 90 day fiance but I know they make more drama than need be. One thing about getting married in China it took a very long time to get my wife's visa. This website helped me as it seemed to take forever but was most likely as long as most people, maybe a year. I tried to get the 10 year green card myself but ended up paying a lawyer as they said they did not get enough info and I sent in a ton. I hired a lawyer for the paperwork to get my wifes visa and was glad I did as it was a lot of paperwork on both our parts. I think either way be prepared to wait and send in a lot of paperwork to people you can not communicate with until they decide to communicate with you. Like wawster and tsap have stated, only the visit to the consulate in China was necessary - they will issue the single certificate while you wait, sometimes even without divorce papers. - OR - You may go through the stateside procedure ahead of time through the mail. You mail the paperwork to your STATE's Dept of State (the U.S. Dept of State is NOT part of this process). Then either you or your representative (e.g., a visa service) must take this certified form to the Chinese Consulate for certification for use in China. A sample single certificate from the Houston consulate, which includes addresses for the Secretary of State of each state in their district - http://houston.china-consulate.org/visa/english/marriage/jh.htm#aoss or from Visa Express - http://www.visaexpress.net/china/singlestatus.htm The Secretary of State verifies the notary seal on your single statement - the Chinese consulate then verifies the Secretary of State's signature with its own seal which explains the purpose of the document in Chinese. Either way (stateside, or from a U.S. consulate in China), a certified single certificate should be acceptable. However, there is occasionally confusion at the marriage registration bureau about which they will accept. All I remember is how stressed I was and how hard it was. Wife and her friend were telling me I needed to go to Washington DC to file and also to the Chinese consulate there. (Like the days of missed work and cost would be easy). For all the trouble I went through I remember looking at that single piece of paper with the seal thinking how much trouble I went through for one sheet of paper with the seal on it. I keep telling myself I got to stop getting married! Four years of marriage has not been easy but all the trouble I went through makes me want to stick it out. Your comment sounds easy but this website really helped me as I did not quite feel alone going through the process. Would I recommend getting a Chinese wife? Somedays yes and somedays no, ha ha.

  11. I had thought about that and my wife said "I want to make sure she is a good woman!" My thinking she would be one of those large women you see at walmart. I think he has a girlfriend but parents (wifes sister and brother in law) said she does not have enough money or something else they don't like about her. Right now it is all on hold until she talks to her family. I told her any of her family could come here for 6 months. She said her sister wants to come but right now she does not want to pay the money for her. I would like all of them to come visit, I like them all but can not speak one word to them so mostly wave at the computer and say ni how!
  12. Parents both not alive. Are you saying her nephew can get a ten year visa?
  13. Wife asked me to talk to lawyer to get her nephew to come here to live. He is 28 years old. Is this even possible? I guess I will call the lawyer and ask him but I thought I would ask here. She just got her 10 year green card. It does not matter to me. We have the room and I like her family. But I did not think a family member could come here and live just because they wanted to (from China to Tennessee).
  14. Thanks. I have that now. I guess I am the only one who thinks tax return does not include W-2. I have it now (with w-2) with all the bills in both our names and the house in both our names. Just waiting on lawyer to send everything in. I have until next month to have it back to them. I had sent them photos before and 5 letters of support (added two more). I expect the next step will they will want to see both of us 6 hours away.
  15. Well 8 months later I got a letter saying they need more info for the green card. I hired a lawyer and I have been getting more paper work. They said I sent in tax returns but did not include w-2 forms. I sent in a ton of stuff and five affidavit letters, pictures and everything I could think of. They also said they want copies of loans and cars. I have one car in my name and no loans. She was in China while I was getting the visa for her before she came here. So I did not put her on any of the bills. Now she is on all of them. The lawyer told me to tell her not to go to China for the visit which she did. Will find out if the one year extension letter gets her back home at the end of the week. This time she did not flip out when I told her I was hiring a lawyer. He is charging me $700 now. A real ass who kept telling me I needed him and that is why she did not get the green card. One of her friends told me to buy her a car to show them. Don't have the money for that. I went down the list on the instructions and sent them everything. But they want a copy of my ID and I don't think that was on the instructions. Don't know what else they want. Going back to the lawyer next week. I paid him to put the house in her name. Maybe I need to invite them over so they can see her tell me what to do from the time she wakes up until she goes to sleep, that ought to prove we are married!
  16. and Wikipedia XO ("extra old") or Napolon designates a blend in which the youngest brandy is stored for at least six years.[10] In 2016, the minimum storage age of the youngest brandy used in an XO blend will be set to ten years.[11]i Thanks. I thought it was a certain brand. I showed my wife and she said that is what she wanted. She asked me how much it cost and of course she does not want to buy it now.
  17. My wife has been asking me to find XO for her. I wonder if this is what she means? We don't drink so I had no clue. She finally figured out where the liquer stores were and made me go in with her. There were some brands with XO but not this one. When she saw the price she quit asking me. Do people drink this in China? I am sure it was for someone in her family. I saw lots of people get very drunk while out eating when I went to China. Gan Bei!
  18. Hmmmm. They took the charges out of my bank and only charged me $7.00 to change the name one week after buying ticket. All flights the same except one an hour difference. Wife will be happy about that! I hope every one else has better luck with the communication issues because we speak different languages.
  19. Thanks. Airfare is booked not in passport name. Booked in married name. I could see where that could be a problem, expecially comming back. Actually it causes a problem leaving the USA, the Airlines will have the problem when boarding pass does not match the name in passport. I figured that out too late. I had to cancel, rebook and my wife made a big fight with her pressing the end key on my phone while I was trying to fix things. I understand why they do this and I wish she did. My mistake cost a lot of money. I guess I am not that smart on a lot of things. She does not stay mad long and the ticket is in the passport name. Airline said a couple of letters different would be ok but not as many as I had.
  20. Thanks. Airfare is booked not in passport name. Booked in married name. I could see where that could be a problem, expecially comming back.
  21. I was hoping for an outside contractor. Instead they sent me to the closest USCIS office two states away. Glad that is out of the way anyway. Is it a crap shoot if they just send the green card or do some people need to go to a final interview? (if anyone knows) Should be soon anyway. She had me pull the trigger on a plane ticket for the first of the year for three weeks to Zhanjiang, China. Would be nice if green card came in time, we have the year extension letter. I have all American cards in married name but passport is still in maiden name. Hope that won't be a problem for her. Price came down $795 from the day before. She only has 2 hours and 25 minutes to go from the international terminal at LAX, go through customs, get her bag and go to the other terminal. I don't think she will make that. Loud argument about that (why do they all yell?) We missed our flight on the first visa but she claims that was due to immigration going so slow (not that many people at the time). I thought she should try and get a ticket with 4 hour layover in LAX like on the way to China. I assume she was mad about that as she thought the price would be more. It has gone up $100 a week later but I think that day would have been OK. Anyone remember LAX time to get bagage, customs and other terminal (flying in from China)? (I appreciate the replies. This web site has helped me on our journey)
  22. I thought things were going too smoothly. Got the biometrics appointment 350 miles away. Wife comes out and tells me they want to see the marriage license. Her green card name had her maiden name. I had sent a copy of the marriage license with the application. Her Social security card and State ID were in her married name but that was not good enough. I had the same problem with both those cards. Luckily I have the origionals and an English translation my wife said the immigration officer really liked. I was a little more than vocal when the guy told me we had to come back. So another 350 plus miles and missed days of work for both of us and she got finger printed and picture. She said the guy mentioned I was a little upset and she told him I did not want to miss work. Hope that helps someone else. This is paper work the USCIS asked for and I had sent them to get her here. Seems like they could have said, let me save you an all day drive and let me look in your file. I don't think they keep a file. I have sent them mounds of paper work over the years. I don't know if a lawyer could have tipped me off on that one. Seems like they could have warned me. I never saw that in the instructions anywhere. The paper work just said to bring the green card.
  23. I was told by one woman she found out that if she became a U.S. Citizen she would lose her retirement. That changed her mind about becoming one.
