  1. How hard is it to get a Mexico visa in China? Seems crossing from Mexico into the US doesn't require a visa these days.

  3. I've used Ctrip several times for domestic China flights. They also can quote for international flights. http://english.ctrip.com
  4. Here's a video introduction video for those who have never visited Portland... http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=AVmq9dq6Nsg
  5. I live in Vancouver across the river from you Carl. I also thought it was ridiculous. A dribble or two of pee in 38,000,000 gallons ain't nothing to worry about. Everyone I know loves the purity of the tap water in Portland after drinking the hard water we have over here. Portland water has a long way to go to be as bad Vancouver's water quality. The funny thing is, there are Holistic Medicine Clinics in Portland that have their patients drink urine as a health therapy.
  6. Has this been ruled out? http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-LZ5ALFLwtK8/UiPiy3b1g4I/AAAAAAAAykk/nkCLKTQQnSg/s1600/richardmatheson_fullsize_story1.jpg
  7. Lol.... Loved this. Could be Stinky Tofu that you were smelling.
  8. Nice photos Randy. When I was in Shanghai, on my way to Ningbo last September, could not even see the Shanghai Tower from Weitan. Too much smog.
  9. Watched this on broadcast TV (PBS) tonight and found it a fascinating show. Its long at 55 minutes, but IMO well worth seeing. http://video.pbs.org/video/2365174499/
  10. Some interesting cheers in Liaoning.. http://images.echinacities.com/detail/9061-The-Liaoning-Cheerleaders-Dance-Routine-is-Quite-a-Display/0#img_pos
  11. Congratulations Ruby! Welcome! America needs more good people like you!

  13. Also if you only know her from emails or messages, you can't really be sure who or what you are in contact with, assuming you have not seen a face on webcam. No face to face, no more contact.
  14. Even though I was layed off last June, my multi-entry China business Visa is good to enter China until February 22, 2014. I visited my laopo-to-be in Ningbo last September over Mid Autumn Festival. I stayed with her and helped her recover from some minor surgery. First day in Ningbo, I registered at the local PSB, and they recorded my Visa expiration. I have been thinking of visiting her again on the same Visa before expiration, after the Spring Festival travel crunch. Will I need to register with the local PSB again? I did not inform them when I was leaving, but I think my China Customs exit stamp would suffice. An entry stamp before February 22 would allowme a 30 day stay, correct?
  15. 100% in agreement with Randy. There is so much more to communication than words. Her body language and attention to you will tell more about her feelings. Also, a paid translator may try and play matchmaker and not give literal translations between you two. An iPhone, or in my case an iPad, using one of the many apps is the best way to see how you both work together to understand each other. That is, if she knows (or wants to know) some English. If she knows absolutely no English, you have some major challenges ahead.
  16. My intent was only in cautioning the OP although he could not be now denied insurance coverage for a pre-existing condition, that insurance coverage is going to cost a lot more than others. The whole health care system is up in the air right now and not to expect premiums and proceedures today to be the same as in the past. I had my galbladder removed last year and the 2 day ordeal was billed at over $23,000 to my insurance. I had to pay only a $150 for the ambulance. I like insurance too.
  17. Very true, provided the insured can afford to pay for the plan. Rates are taking off like a Saturn V.
  18. Another option to surgery in China or returning to the US, is to look into medical tourism in India. Some facilities cater to Westerners with US trained doctors and nurses, and offer a resort experience for after surgery recovery. Cost is substantially less than in the US, and quality of health care is several magnitudes above China. Maybe your employer provided insurance would cover this? http://www.medical-tourism.com
  19. Sooner... http://qz.com/120654/china-could-become-the-first-country-to-legalize-parcel-delivery-by-drone/
  20. LOL. This isn't the first thing I've got wrong in trying to understand Chinese culture......
