  1. second verse same as the first. see timeline
  2. An interesting thing happened today. A guy from the FBI called me and wanted to talk about my future stepson. Sure, I said. When? Now, he said. Ten minutes later, he and another man had shown up at the office with appropriate credentials and a file about a half an inch thick. They verified a number of factual items, apparently from the I-129F- Jingwen's name, her kids's names, where I lived, etc. I couldn't tell if they were checking me out or really just checking the facts. The gentlemen were most cordial and, after the q&a sorta apologized for having to do this. I asked what the deal was and was told my files had been randonmly selected for follow-up as part of a program trying to indentify visa fraud. The lead guy said all was in order and there was nothing further to be done. I asked him to confirm a few things for me on the namecheck/security process at NVC and then at GZ. He did not provide anything specific but thought that both the petitioner and beneficiary were vetted at NVC, where the emphasis was on potential domestic (US) violations. When GZ sends in the request, he thought the emphasis was more on what the individual might have done in his home country that would make him a potential threat if he were to come to the US. The two men left after about 15 minutes.
  3. Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Start cleaning
  4. Dave, just a little something to help you pass the time. http://www.lares.dti.ne.jp/%7Eyugo/storage...3/03/index.html
  5. After the interview, you will hear the familiar ad slogan: You are now free to move about the world. Fingers crossed. Good luck.
  6. The P3 Blues First you get down on your knees Then you say your rosaries Then you bow with great respect And genuflect, genuflect, genuflect Before the org that has your life. You plead to be with your wife. To the pits you¡¯re sent for being so bold The P3 blues have taken hold. Do not despair, for a time will come When all is forgiven by the holy one Who has the visa in his hand To let her into the promised land. But until that day, the pits remain The most crowed place in GZ¡¯s domain. Take solace. You are not alone. The seeds of deliverance have already been sown. You will escape the pits, ¡®tis a certain fact. The P4 demons have made a pact With the P3 pit bosses and will say: ¡°The P4 blues will now hold sway¡±.
  7. Another reason why Jingwen says she doesn't like American - too expensive. Then again, her only real exposure to American food is Mickie D's, Pizza Hut and KFC.
  8. Wonderful news!!!!!!! Crank up the smoker. Best of luck to you guys in the months ahead.
  9. warpedbored, thanks for the hearty laugh. se_lang, you now have me rolling on the floor
  10. If life is a bowl of cherries, what am I doing in the pits? (credit goes to Irma Bombeck for coining this)
  11. I agree that it's nothing to worry about, but I used it as an excuse to send another e-mail to GZ - just to let them know that I'm out there waiting.
  12. I took a look. Seems this is her timeline: P1 1/31/03 P2 6/06/03 Sent to Guangzhou 7/29/03 Received P3 10/26/03 I think your translation is accurate.
  13. HA! Found new ones!!! http://www.click-smilies.de/sammlung0903/tiere/animal-smiley-071.gif http://www.click-smilies.de/sammlung0903/travesmilies/tierischesmilies/smilie_schildkroete.gif my money's on the turtle
  14. I hope not. With the thousands of K visas processed each year (I hear it's up to about 8,000 annually), I would have expected the pace to pick up a little. Behinder and behinder
  15. What a pain in the butt. Now that I'm back to a 13 hour difference in time with Jingwen, we have to keep double checking whose time we're referring to. When we were on DST, a 12 hour difference was simple to keep track of. Living in the eastern time zone sure made it easy. It is true, is is not, that China has one time zone for the entire country.
  16. To paraphrase Mr. Foxworthy, you may be a redneck if your house is on wheels and your car is on blocks. No offense intended.
  17. Hainan Island is trying to become the country's coffee capital. While I was there, just about every street vendor had a supply of beans for sale. Not bad coffee. Unfortunately, the prices are US prices. In Zhanjiang, I go to a place called Warmee that sells freshly brewed coffee, but it costs about $2.00 for a cup. And no free refills!!!!
  18. While you can download the P3 documents, it is very very rare for GZ to set up a provisional file before the information is entered into the system. Some consulates/embassies will do this, but GZ has a policy against provisional files. I have no idea what would happen if you tried to send in the P3 documents in advance of receiving them from GZ - maybe nothing.
  19. was someone wearing his hockey gloves again?
  20. Have you made any progress? You know you'll be liable for a white gloves inspection. Not really. Besides, the house will be a total mess in a couple of weeks anyway, so why bother to really clean it now. But I did have a small run in the the garbage man who did not think that what I was putting on the curb for pick up could have come from a residence. This junk had to sit for a few extra days, waiting for the special pick up to show up - you know, assorted pieces parts - half a lawnmower, old bed frames, boxes filled with who knows what, paint cans, heavily used spare tires, parts of old cars, etc. Why I ever kept this stuff is beyond me.
  21. What notarized documents of yours are you referring to? Your birth certificate? divorce decree? Better to keep those here for use when you submit the I-129f. By the way, these documents are not really notarized. Rather, they are certified copies. Now would be a good time for Sarah to begin gathering her notarized documents like her birth certificate, divorce decree, sole custody documents, etc. It would be too early for her to get her police certificates because they have a limited shelf life - one year, I think. Be sure you have the ADIT photos done while you're there, and make sure she signs the G-325 biographic form. Some service centers will kick the I-129f back if it is not signed by the beneficiary. Good luck and may your K journey be a short one.
  22. Jingwen and I are 30 days behind you (GZ picked up on 10/10) My patience is wearing very thin these days, but I still think we're on the down side of the hill.
  23. Status check. Has anyone from the 8/29 NVC shipment heard anything from GZ? My emails still say "no record" despite a 10/10 delivery to the consulate.
