    Mr Yangs

I believe the hotel is called Tian Yu Garden. He and his wife and sister in law are wonderful. The Ritz it is not, but who cares. This is the most important time of your life and the Yang's help was immeasurable. They will help you all along the way during your stay, with paperwork and hospital things. Staying there was the best decision I made during this whole process. I was thrilled during my entire stay that my sweet fiancee (now wife), received so much support from them, and put her at ease, for her interview. We owe them for their kindness and help and enthusiatically recommend their place.
  2. Good for you! Congratulations and good luck! Hang in there and keep us posted.
  3. My opinion was that they need to see everything. I would not blank anything out for fear of the delays that it could cause. I DID however make it very clear to my sweet Fang that this is private information that could cause us harm in the future if in the wrong hands, and that she should protect this information, not show to anyone except consulate people, and eventually hand carry all copies of this information with her when she came to the US. Good luck with your big day, and please keep us posted!!!!
  4. You're the best....thank you so much. Hope you and your lovely wife are doing well!!!! Gotta go get the little Mrs. at English class : ) Thank you again!
  5. Here is recent e-mail: The last processing action taken on your case Receipt Number: XXXXXXXXXXXXX Application Type: I485 , APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS Current Status: This case is now pending at the office to which it was transferred. The I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS was transferred and is now pending standard processing at a USCIS office. Tried to find time frame on USCIS site but unsuccessful. What does this e-mail mean and any thoughts on time frame? Thank you all! : )
  6. Thank you for the follow-up. We told my wife's friend that her AOS is "still in progress" (so as not to alarm her) and she acknowledged that her husband did call the 800 number when transfer letter was received by him. I am hoping she is referring to "request for evidence" letter. My wife and I are reluctant to offer too much information to her because we do not want to create a hostile environment in her home. If she begins to ask questions and alerts him that we are looking into this for her, I am afraid that he will get angry and not complete the process. I get the impression that he will do the right thing for her, so I must proceed cautiously. Till then, I will continue to monitor status on USCIS website. Thank you for your concern, and everybody's elses help and input!!! : )
  7. Here is what I found: Receipt Number: ********* Application Type: I485, APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS Current Status: Request for Additional Evidence Sent On February **, 2008, we mailed a notice requesting additional evidence or information in this case I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS. Please follow the instructions on the notice to submit the requested information. This case will be in suspense until we receive the evidence or the opportunity to submit it expires. Once we receive the requested evidence or information and make a decision on the case, you will be notified by mail. Any thoughts? Could he still just be using her until he dies and she still does not get GC?
  8. His health was not great when they agreed to get visa, but she had no idea his health was this bad (and terminal)
  9. It's funny you should say that because my wife is with her at school tonight, and I will pick them both up soon (and take friend to her home because her husband has been slacking in the "pick up wife after class thing") and I expect to get a copy of her NOA "Transfer to California". I will use this to try to get status info and not really sure what to do if you are right, and he does have GC!? I really do not want to stir up that hornets nest! I will probably pretend it is still being processed and hope he stops breathing soon... : 0
  10. These terms of marriage were not presented to her until she was here in the US and less than one week before her 3 month K-1 visa expired. Her English is really quite limited and I do not think she fully understood what she was signing. She came here because they wrote for several years and he was very nice to her....quite different from now. Not sure if niece knows situation but I will inquire. I hope her niece can help! (and wants her there!!!!!)
  11. Not sure. Getting a copy of her NOA tomorrow indicating "Transfer to California" (not sure when dated) and will try to track via USCIS website and Case Number/A Number. She had her biometrics done last Sept which makes me wonder why he has not mentioned green card or AOS appointment to her yet.
  12. Thank you. She's a very sweet and very frightened lady and I can not sit back and just watch. You would do the same!!!!
  13. Yes, plan on doing that for her when we register with USCIS and submit Case Number. Abit tough to do since her English is limited and I am not her representative. michael, try to understand whe she really needs at this point?...i don't know the whole story between the wife and the husband, first of all, how did the two of them get to know each other and get married....just curious...and why would she marry him if she he treats her so awful?.....does she like living here in the states?....what about her family in china....money is one thing...but the most important thing for her now is to find out what she really needs.....how is she gonna survive here in the states when he dies...even with some of his money....michael...if you really want to help her....tell your wife to findout what she really needs....if you don't know what she really needs ..you cant really help her at her best interest....good luck....and michael...you are certainly and unqestionably a very nice person and your wife should be really glad that she found you....or you found her...... You're absolutely right. We need to find out what she needs. I'd also like to know more of their story, and by the same token, I realize there are always two sides to every story. I remind my wife, all is not always as it appears. I have tried to ascertain how they met and under what circumstances, but that remains a gray area right now. Thank you for your compliment and we will continue to look out for my wife's friend as much as possible. : )
  14. I agree Jim and thank you so much for your input....as always! : )
  15. no, we just have morals, principals and a heart.
  16. Didn't have a problem with FP&L (Florida) recently, but could only add wife as my name, and then "c/o" her name. I can live with that.
  17. Yes, plan on doing that for her when we register with USCIS and submit Case Number. Abit tough to do since her English is limited and I am not her representative.
  18. Thank you...agree on all. Any thoughts on Social Security? Isn't she entitled to his when he dies?
  19. I agree with all of you and thank you for your input. I was actually quite relieved when I read marriage agreement stating "no Chinese translation needed". How silly of him....should have been translated and should have been witnessed and signed by notary, in my way of thinking. Yes, I also think she will need legal council. A bit beyond my means, but I will not sit by and watch her get hurt. Yes, free hospice...my thoughts exactly...although hospice IS free?, I still think he may not have had her best interests in mind. On the flip-side, my wife thinks he may just be testing her and seeing if she cares for him and not just here for green card and estate. What about his Social Security? Could she be entitled? I really do hate the ugly side of how the K-1 process can happen, and I will do all that I can to help her. She is my wife's friend, and has been comforting to my wife since my wife's arrival. Thank you all!!!
  20. My neighbor is here on K-1 visa. She is 65, husband approximately 70ish. Married in June 07. Biometrics in Sept 07. She knows nothing about green card status. Husband is terminal and perhaps has only a couple of months to live. Treats her awful. Had her sign marriage agreement stipulating that she agrees to marry under the following conditions: "She is not entitled to any of his assets or property". "She is not to question his comings and goings". "She is aware of his poor health, and will take care of him until he dies". And finally, that "She understands all that this agreement says, and does not need Chinese translation". She has seen his will, and she is not mentioned anywhere. Perhaps he is testing her and trying to see if she truly loves and cares for him? Beats me. What do you all think? Can a husband NOT have to provide for his wife? Seems awful to me! Personally, I do not think his "lack of Chinese translation" was very wise on his part? If lawyer helped him, I think lawyer was negligent. Can this total lack of caring for his wife when he dies be binding in the courts? You only need 1 minute of talking to her to hear her lack of English understanding. I think courts would laugh at agreement. Seems to me, any good judge would toss marriage agreement? I think the best I could do is help her follow up on green card and pay to fly her to her niece in California. I told her I would ask you all. Any thoughts?
  21. I also think I had 1-134 done a month or so before interview. That allowed me time to send copy to my fiance (and I also brought a copy when I flew to interview. Good luck!!!
  22. I waited till the last minute on Letter from Employer only. Had bank letters done two weeks before I went to GUZ for interview (although really did not need to show assets). I color copied passport/visa and had a notary friend notarize. Looked official enough to my eyes. : )
  23. I also checked the box after 8, AND the box after yes (as per another helpful CFLer's advice when I posted a zillion questions for AOS) Hope you're well my friend!
