  1. That was the guy! He acted as 'technical director' for the movie.
  2. I had the interview with Dave Fitzpatrick today at 2pm. I thought it went very well. He asked me all the 'normal' questions, ie, how did you meet, when did you meet, etc, etc... During the interview I worked in alot of information that I gained through my own research, and from information all of you have shared with the group - so good job all!! He was very amazed at alot of things that came out during the interview. I also showed him a large flow chart on my office wall that depicts the process flow for immigrant visas. He had me explain it to him while on video. All in all, I thought it went great, and our plight (in my humble opinion) was articulated very well. On a side note - the CNN camerman doing the shoot - was the world famous camerman who did all the video that was on CNN the first night of the Gulf War. Remember all the video shot from the roof top of the hotel in Bagdag? He shot it....super nice guy.
  3. I called DOS during my CNN interview - to show how backlogged they are with phone calls...on que - I couldnt get through
  4. The operative word is "order" - that is the connotation i didnt like
  5. I emailed has about that very thing. I told her while we appreciated the exposure, that she shouldnt have made it seem that everyone found our significant other that way. I dont believe there is a problem with meeting one that way, but our society does attach a negative stygma to it. She emailed me back immediately and told me that her editor created the headline. I spoke to my publicist about it and she told me that is the way it works most of the time in media. The reporter emailed me back and apologized and said 12 other people also sent her a similiar email.
  6. Having no information is the point I made.... but the 'gooey' part is the by product of having no information and the delay in general.
  7. The local newspaper (Times-Union) just interviewed me this morning about all of this. He was very nice and attentive and asked some very good questions. He said his angle is to make it a "Christmas Story". CNN will be here at 2pm today for the Arron Brown show and tomorrow I have another interview with an investigative reporter from a local tv station. Squeeky wheel gets the grease!! So let's squeek!
  8. Not call? Not email? I think Bob works for GZ!!!! Just kidding... thanks bob. I'm still going to rent the blimp with the electronic sign to fly over GZ with my fiance's case number on it though!
  9. I just saw on a post that dos said a security check cleared - but GZ hasnt been notified yet. This is where the confusion is... When I called CA and my lovely Fiance's namecheck was still not showing up in their system as complete, I asked them the process - they told me that "a government agency" notifies dos of the approval --> then dos cables it to GZ --> then once GZ updates their system --> it shows up in CA's system. Hence the confusion. How can CA say its complete, but that GZ has not entered it in their system? Is this person calling someone other than CA? If so, please give me the number so I may become newest bestest buddy!!! Tx.
  10. hey! where did my 293 posts go?! i'm only a member again!!
  11. So, is this "overtime" a fact - or wishful thinking?
  12. I saw story on CNN about PH. While there are many things in our country that we dislike - there are many more things we do. As a whole, ours is the best in the world. During my military life, I have been to at least 48 countries in the world, most I left feeling sorry for the people who lived there......So while it seems that our politicians have abandoned us, remember, its not them that make this country great - its you and I.
  13. As Jim does - I get a calling card from NobelCom.com also. My Fiance and I have tried the voice over IP solution and found it to be somewhat cumbersome, but they may just be our experience. Welcome to the forums - btw - Jim is the nicest one here - I'm just a drive by poster
  14. I accept your challenge (holds head up high) and will personally test this insane system in which we are forced to do battle in!!! (Great music playing in background)...Muhahahahaaaa...Muhahahahaaaaa
  15. Thanks April, but I would really not suggest anyone answering falsely. Rejections are recorded and now all visas of any type are recorded in CA's system, approved or not. I would hate for someone to get caught and have "lying" attached to their file forever :
  16. Frank and Jenny: Can you provide me with links or something to support your statement? I would really like to review that material myself before my Fiance attempts to get a Tourist visa. Tx.
  17. Myles, I would like to see documentation on that. My Fiances mother comes over to the US all the time and has never posted a bond. Tx.
  18. I agree with your statements entirely. My Fiance and I have also discussed the "what ifs" of her getting a Tourist Visa only to have to return a short time later when her K1 Visa is ready. We've decided that 'now' is more important and tangible than "maybe soon". So in our case, we would take it in a heart beat. It would be great if by the time I go to beijing for Christmas, this was all resolved and the Tourist Visa was a moot point
  19. Yes, that narrow mindedness of the consulate worker is not a surprise. Actually, GZ told me my Fiance was still eligible for a Tourist visa first, but since she would have to get it from the Beijing Embassy, I thought it prudent to ask them also. And as my post indicated, they said the same thing. I plan to meet with the non-immigrant chief later this month when I am in Beijing and try to share the simple logic involved and see if I can get them to adopt a standard policy on this and then tell the consulates to do the same.
  20. I made some time the last couple of days to add some more features on visadelays.com. I've been meaning to get them done, but as you all, I have a full time job also (anyone win the lotto yet?). One major new feature is a section on the front page that shows all the 15 newest posts from here on Candle... it is a live feed so when you are there you can quickly see what's going on here at this great forum! If you have content or suggestions, please send them to Mark and I at info@visadelays.com ... Together, we can make a change!
  21. Some time ago, when I use to frequent G7 (before the censorship began), I posted the question if it would be a good idea for our loved ones to obtain an Tourist Visa while they wait for their Immigrant Visa. The general opinion was that it was not possible. Well, as much as I respect people's opinions - on a matter as important as this - I wanted to hear it from the "horses mouth". So on November 17th, I faxed the Embassy in Beijing and asked them this very question: "Would my Fiance who has already been approved for a K1 Visa and is only awaiting the name check to be returned for issuance, still be eligible for a Tourist Visa?" There reply was: "Thankyou for your inquiry of November 17. Please be advised your fiance is eligilbe to apply for a tourist visa, but also kindly note there is no guarantee that she will qualify. Qualifications for a K visa are significantly different than those of a tourist visa." So my first statement is, everyone be aware that getting your loved ones here shortly is still a possibility, as they are not automatically ineligible for a Tourist visa. If the Embassy would apply some simple logic, in most cases Tourist Visas would be issued to our waiting loved ones who have passed the interview already, or are married to U.S. Citizens already. The two biggest requirements of a Tourist visa are: 1) Prove you are not a intending immigrant.... which means you plan to return to China once your visa expires. Simple logic says, well yes you are an intending immigrant, but not illegally, you've already been approved!! So as soon as GZ is ready to issue you your immigrant visa - you will return, or of course before your Tourist visa expires. (duh). 2) You will not become a public charge while you are in the US....if your loved ones have passed the interview, through the AoS document, you have proved that will not happen. I just wanted to share this with you, this is not a rumor - but a fact given to me from the Beijing embassy. I hope it helps some of us.
  22. Just got off the phone with the Producer of CNN NewsNight with Aaron Brown. He was a very nice man and seemed very interested in our plight. He told me he was not even aware of the problem in China before he received my email last night. I briefly explained the issue, our plight, and some of the current disparities occurring. He told me he and his crew would be here next Thursday to interview me. I spoke to my publicist about it and she said she would help me prepare so the best possible message can get out with the short time I will have.
  23. I was only making an attempt at humor here guys, it wasnt meant to be taken seriously..... I apologize.
