  3. side note to Yuhui - Inlaws are like fresh fish - good for about three days. Thanks Frank.. Well, I've been with my inlaws in France for about a week this May... really a good time with them, except for the complicated French talking B) So now I am busy catching up with my French language and French recipe

  6. Thank you Mick for the nice post! And this morning, when I just woke up struggling to open my eyes, a sweet whisper came "Happy National Day!!"....sooo sweet..thanks honey And coincidentally, today is also Eric's birthday according to Chinese lunar calendar, since he would be far away in Germany on his "regular" b-day,,, we would have more celebration today!! waaaoo Anyway, today is a nice day, isn't it! May our homeland more splendid! May my honey more handsome!! May all couples here more happy!!!!
  7. Very sorry to hear that. Sounds like they had plenty of evidences. Unfortunately, the VO is kind of God with those matters. Discretionary powers I suggest they contact GZ and find out what other evidence they might bring that would have tipped the balance, if any. I do not think the lawyer will be of any use, as , like I said, visa issuance is purely at the interviewer discretion. Not to say this is hopeless by all means. Just to say that I don't think a l;awyer will accomplish more with GZ than they can themselves. I wish them luck. Was language a factor? Does she speaks English or does he speak Chinese? Typically the language barrier is frown upon by VO's. ooops. eric ( and not yuhui ) was writing the above .
  8. sorry to put it in a wrong place.. please forgive me
  9. Hi, Has anyone here tried to check your AOS status on-line at www.bcis.gov or through the phone at 1-800-375-5283? We did both and met the same problem that they asked for the 13-character application receipt number which "can be found on application notices you have received from the BCIS" as they say.. The receipt we got from KS City BCIS is just a grocery shopping receipt with some numbers but no way to be 13-character, then we dug out all the files and found that on NOA2 there is a 13 receipt number on the up right corner, we tried this, but it turned out to be "cannot be found"... Anyone has managed this please give us a hint, thanks in advance! By the way, we are heading to the Miami BCIS in 2 hrs, would let you know about the exploration.
  10. I like that B) well, just between you and me Don...
  11. Thanks all for your encouragement!! Thanks for my honey's patience!!! B) really B) Well, gentlemen, please be more patient with your honey, practice makes perfect, and this is not an EASY job, so what we need is just practice, practice, and practice... and we can do it!

  13. BTW, in case to recognize my not bad driving today, honey is in the kitch now cooking me STEAK!!! Nice Hubby!!
  14. Well... honey, it is too hard to tell except that my ears feel more tired than my hands and right foot...too much yelling " GO, GO, GO, WATCH OUT,, STOP,,, BRAKE... ..." Of course these were from MR. Exxx Frankly I am pretty proud of myself so far with just about 11 hrs' driving experience, including 8 with the instructor from knowing nothing at the very beginning Thanks my honey for the brand new car of course ...though I have suggested for a used car for a long time... the new one does make me more nervous with no doubt Ok, honey, hope it won't be long I can go to Publix alone, this way you would avoid the most tiring errand
  15. But as far as the company is concerned, he is right, he won't hire you with the 1-year valid EAD for a permanent position, what if no green card after one year? Maybe it is just for some temperory job like working in KFC?? Honey would be against me to do that though Actually I just want to get involved in the society and thanks for my honey's a hundred percent support!
  16. Well, everything sounds settled down to us so far except the "interview" which we think it is just a matter of time, and since I've got all the papers(SSN, EAD, AP, DL), we really don't care about the interview too much.. I think it is LEGAL to do almost everything here, so I start local university search for another degree, as well as some job huntings. But today I got two frustrating phone calls. One was from a university, when topic came to my status in the States, I answered" I've applied for Permanent Residency and it is in process." University: "Then which type of visa you have" Me: " K-1 fiancee visa" University: " Then you are not allowed to work here" Me: "I've got my EAD which is valid till next April and by then the green card should be issued." University: " Our program would last more than 1 year, so contact me after you get your green card..." Another call was from a company I just sent resume this morning. At first it sounded like a phone interview, then again came to the status... Company: " You are a citizen or permanent resident?" Me: " My permanent residency is being processed now and I have legal work permit now" Company: " no, we won't consider you then" Me: " But I am legal to work in the States now" Company: " no, maybe you can contact us after you get your green card. Have a good day, bye!" I am so confused and frustrated now... if so, what EAD means??? But I did use EAD to work for a translation company on line once... Just hope not every comapny/university do the same... Does anyone here have some experience like this?
  17. Hi guys. We filed the change of address with the center in KY ( the only one doing that stuff ) on May 20 or so..A week or so before moving to FL. BCIS Kansas City said today.. "they received it on 6 /24" ( woaa ! Now that's fast in BCIS SOP's manual...LOL ) They sent it to our new BCIS jurisdiction in Miami 7/3. There is hope after all ! Now, we'll wait for MIA to kindly invite us for the AOS interview... After that, we're done . At least until lifting of conditional status. All other paperwork taken care of. Yuhui has more cards in her wallet that she's ever seen By the way, congrats to he new "visaers".. Yeah, that includes you ChinaDave. !@#$% The wife keeps loging me out and sign herself in ! Above message was from Eric :-)
  18. Good news about SSN Mick ! Now, about the lil' receipt, have you asked the dog? Eric

By mail Where filed? KS City Receipt number received? 3 days after filing EAD Granted: Apr. 29, 2003, together with fingerprint AP Received: May 14, 2003 First Appointment Scheduled: NO IDEA
  20. One more thing... My AP is under married name, and my passport is under my maid name. So we also took our marriage lisence and showed them. And the driver lisence with the married name also a strong proof I think.
  21. I came back to the US with my AP from Paris on May 31. The United Airline guys at the check-in counter didn't look like familiar with the AP paper though, he checked it and my passport, then went to consult with someone (maybe his boss?), then came back asking for my driver lisence. thank God I had it. So he had nothing to say but let me go. I think they asked for DL just wanna another ID to prove my status in the States.. And at Chicago, we very easily cleared the US immigration, they just copied my AP, also I got a new I-94 with the deadline May 2004 which is a year from then. That's my AP experience, no idea about the airport in China. But I think since AP is not very well-known, you just take all the related papers & ID just in case. Hope this would help you!
  22. Mick. This is aweful. Unbelievable. Suggest you contact the BCIS office at her POE to see why she has not be logged in yet.
  23. After I get reacquainted with cave country with some more training , I'd like to do Eagle's nest deep underwater cave, but that will have to be "negotiated" with the safety head honcho ( starts with "Y", ahem ) if ya know what I mean... I actually brought her to central FL springs on the way over from KS.
