  1. my lady and I are getting down to brass tacks and doing our paperwork for a K-1.

Cupcake, having a reasonable command of the English language, is highly employable in her small northern China city. Moreover, she's smart, ambitious, frighteningly competent and a bit demanding. Therefore she switches jobs whenever she feels bored, underutilized, not used for what she was hired to do, or just pissed off at her boss for gross incompetence, and she's now starting her 4th job since I met her 8 months ago.

The problem is that feels shy to put her full employment history for the last 5 years on the g-325a. Instead, she put down 1 company where she feels sure that turnover will result in no one there remembering her, and another company where she remains on good terms with her old boss.

I think she would normally take my lead on this, except that a good "visa agent" friend of hers from her first job doing translations for a marriage agency has told that no one will check her employment history. On the other hand, I have bad thoughts about someone checking up on her employment history, and her getting barred from ever entering the US or being thrown out after she has kids with me.

Bottom line, if this is a real problem, then I will spend the emotional capital to get it done right. If not, then I'm happy to save that capital for getting something really important to me.

The truth is always the best when filing the papers. You do not want something as simple as this biting you in the ass later.

  2. Nuworld, I am running Vista 32 right now so there is no point in having more than 4gig mem. I have 2 more gig that matches what I am using for when I upgrade to Vista home 64 :D . I may have you beat on the PS but I can tell yo this.....I notice it everytime I look at my electric bill

    Robert

Speed costs money. How fast do you want to go? :D

    Amen brother :P

  3. I'm in automotive.

Nothing is ever certain. I would say, get used to it. Save more. Buy American.

As for your girl, well. Love and money are interchangeable. If you have enough of one, you don't need so much of the other. Get more love, worry less about money.

I'm in Automotive too and long for the days when we were busy. Some days I just stand around doing nothing. As a technician, I do not get paid if I am not working on a car and people just do not have money to fix them now.

  4. My vista has finally bit the dust. I see there are a couple of the full versions available. One is the GFC-00564 and the other is GFC-00019. I have found that the GFC-00564 is the cheapest by far of the full versions. I do not want the upgrade as my vista is corrupt and I will have trouble upgrading.

Will the GFC-00564 allow me to completely dump vista and format the hard drive to start over with Windows 7? I have already backed up my hard drive.

EDIT: I am looking to buy the home premium version..

The full version of Windows 7 normally will allow you to have your full choice of upgrade, install a new version on existing partition or format your hard drive and start over. I just upgraded both of my computers to Windows 7 Ultimate. In the past you use to have to buy upgrade to do the 1st option as full would not allow you to upgrade. Either way you are looking for the Full Version.

Yep, gotta have the full version. I have read reports of many problems people have been having trying to upgrade Vista to 7. As bad as my Vista is, it is certain that I will have trouble.

Since I build my own computers I always buy the OEM version. How often do you ever have to call Microsoft???? you can find most answers to your questions somewhere on the internet and it does not cost like calling MS.

I have to agree with this.

Since I build my own computers I always buy the OEM version. How often do you ever have to call Microsoft????

I too have been building my own systems for years.

In fact, I have never bought a computer from any computer outlet before.

It's much cheaper and more cost affective to build you own.

Plus when you build you own system you know what you have and how it works..

Plus i do most of my own programing and coding.

Though I'm still running Vista ultimate 64bit.

I have never had a problem, Not even a burp or fart.

This system is a screamer and is blazing fast.

Here are just a few shots of the system I'm running now.

I will be switching to Windows 7 probably next month and will be getting the OEM.

I'm still debating about going with windows 7.

the only reason is this system has been very good to me.

The way i see it, Why fix it if it's not broken.

Robert, I used to do this when I was with my Ex. she has an CPA Accounting business and I built everything from the Lan, Servers, Disk Arrays and workstations for her, but I find it is best to buy a machine, because unless you can get really good prices on the parts, you always pay more for the individual parts that buying a machine.

When I was buying a lot of computers and parts in the Norcross area, I went to Ginstar. there is one on Jimmy carter across from the Varsity and I think there is one in Marrietta also. Ginstar... They speak chinese if your wives want to be involved. www.ginstar.com

Still Frys is good and so is MicroCenter. But always look at ginstar to get the best price on computers and parts.

I buy almost everything I use to build computers from zipzzomfly.com. Yes it is cheaper to buy a built unit...but......I like to choose what I put in my system :D . The last one I built..my home computer....cost 6k to build....but man is it fast ;)

Makes sense. Are you a gamer?

I used to be :D . Now it is just a very fast chat machine :D . I d play every now and them....but I also do some digital video editing.

  9. Hi folks,

It's been awhile since I have given an update. The last time I wrote I think my stepdaughter was having a difficult time adjusting to school and making friends. But I also wrote that she was doing better. Well it's been a few months and things seem to be getting better all the time. My step daughter has been sellected to join the national honor society which is quite an honor. She has made a few more friends but no to many and in some ways I think that's a good thing (you know how American are?). My wife is doing pretty good too, she's volunteered some time at a senior citizen center and has made some friends, she's quite a lady and I'm a very fortunate man. We've been practicing for my wifes drivers license and she's been trying, but it's going to take awhile. I realized this when she ran into my garage door. But you know I love her and I'll keep repairing my garage door over and over again, don't you just love those crazy asian drivers??? Well folks, it's been nice giving an update and I promise I'll keep in touch.

    Auggie & Lancy

Thanks, it is always good to hear of how everyone is doing. I hope your wife gets better at driving soon. I will be in the same boat soon  . Good luck and keep the posts coming.

  10. Dan, If we choose to do it this way, would we need to wait until the K2 expires? Would that cause any problems with GUZ because we filed with a K2 already approved ( at interview for CR-2). I wonder if they would make her and my wife (very soon to be wife) take a DNA test? Things to think about but sounds like a good idea. It is cheaper provided no DNA test is involved.

Not a problem an approved K-2 wlll have no effect on a future petition. And I doubt they would require a DNA test either because they approved a K-2 without.

A child interview for CR-2 is a formality.

Lostinblue just went through this Wife was K-1 and son followed later on IR-2

Dan I can not thank you enough! This board is very lucky to have someone with your knowledge on it. Thanks again.

    Robert

  11. wow....what a scam.....I wonder if it might be better to let the K2 expire and just file CR-2???

Funny you say this, but yes would save you some $$.

Wife marries you and adjusts stats, you can file an I-130 for child's visa soon after marriage, fee $355, then $70+$400 to NVC for visa.

The moment child arrives in USA they get green-card, and shortly after that you can adopt the child and get her US citizenship, bypassing the removal of conditions for child. (Lee Fisher did this)

  12. Note on fees: There is no fee for applicants who are filing Form I-485 based on having been admitted to the United States as a refugee. Applicants 80 years of age or older are not charged a biometric fee; the fee total is $930. Applicants under 14 years of age:
    • Filing with the I-485 application of at least one parent have a fee total of $600

    • Not filing with the I-485 application of at least one parent have a fee total of $930

    http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/men...00045f3d6a1RCRD

So if you wait and file together, the fee will be $1010 for mother and $600 for child under age 14, if filed separate the fees will be $1010 for mother and $930 for child under age 14

AOS for Child is NOT FREE.

However later when removing conditions, the child will only cost $80 extra for biometrics, if removing conditions at same time, (Requires child to have acquired residency status concurrent with mother and entered the USA within 90 days of parent, if not then child removes conditions separately from parent and pays $545)

wow....what a scam.....I wonder if it might be better to let the K2 expire and just file CR-2???

  13. I talked with my Na and she wants me to wait until she gets here to decide about how we will be calling her family back in China. We have several choices for use with computer and home phone. For now I need to get a prepaid calling card for her so when I meet her at the airport she can call her father to let him know she got here safely and call her sisters and friends and........................ . I went to the Asian store today thinking this would be a great place to look........could not find any calling cards  . I remember when I was married to my ex that we bought them on the internet but have no idea where from.

    Any suggestions???

    Robert

  14. OK, I am not sure why I am having so much trouble with this.......I have done it before about 6 years ago  . Her is my Question.

I cost $1010.00 to file AOS for my wife. Her daughter is coning over this summer. If we wait until her daughter is here.....will that be $1010 for my wife and $1010 for her daughter???? Or will the daughter be included on the mothers AOS for free????

I tried to call USCIS but got tired of pushing buttons tring to find a Human. I did read somewhere on the USCIS website that If we file for my wife and later file for the step daughter that we should include the reciept number form my wifes NOA1 so that the daughter can be included for AOS because of mother?????? Do not really understand that...does that mean the daughter is free if the mother is filing???? Just for information the daughter is 9 years old.

      :o :(

Need help with this one :P

  15. With all this crap that we must now go through and the Airlines charging us for everything they can think of.......how long until almost nobody flies anymore?????? Seems to me if they keep this up there will only be buisness traveerlers and international travel..........I would almost rather drive.

Amen! I remember when I first came to China, I could pack almost twice as much as they are allowing now. Unfortunately, we can't drive to China/America. :D

yea..that is a problem driving to China. I dout I will fly domestically though. I have driven from Atlanta to LA to visit. Drove from Portland OR. to Atlanta when I lived in OR. Driven all up and down the east coast so I do not mind driving....just wish i could go a little faster  :P

  16. Hi My wife is big into Chinese tradition and I will pick her up at the airport on Friday afternoon. I wanted to have our house ready for her so here is what I was thinking if I forgot anything please fill me in

A dozen roses on the table at home. I cannot bring them to the airport the sheer cold will kill them

Candles not sure what scent to get I don't know what she likes if anybody has any suggestions. I know everybody is different however what I don't want to get something she might not like.

    Rose pedals for the bed.

Should I carry her over the threashold like you do when your first married? Also should I bring her in threw the front door or the door in the garage?

and of course the house will be very clean. any other suggestions woudl be very helpful. Thanks

Good luck Bryon, Everything will be fine.
