  3. The little girl in the background really sticks out - look at the color of her hair. Do you see a lot of little Chinese kids with light colored hair or was this one with the father that you spoke about?
  4. Cool story Jesse and thanks for some great pictures... I did notice some other foreigners there helping. Did you help or just observed? How did you find out about this occasion?
  5. Seen from an airplane landing this new years in Beijing - http://youtu.be/aggEodEooBk According to released data from the Beijing municipal environmental protection monitoring center at 23:00 on the night of Chinese new year's eve at Feb 10, air quality level of Beijing city is more than five "heavily polluted " or six " serious pollution", PM2.5 is still the leading pollution, although many people have consciously reduced discharging of fireworks on New Year's Eve,
  6. Let's not forget about the salted eggs in a jar. She must of put a pound of salt in that jar and was twice as salty as the ocean. I told her it would have been cheaper to by them in the Chinese market but we MUST do it ourselves. http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa131/traceybunny/DSC00206.jpg
  7. Carl, My 1st job is in computers... after a long day of looking at screens, answer calls, counting numbers, etc. etc... I look forward to doing something else...completely different, at that would be woodworking. I love it. I use to have a (and still do) bunch of wood working stuff like you. Heck, I couldn't help myelf this last Christmas and go out and buy a new nailer, table saw and a few other items that were "on sale". The problem that I have is getting into a big project and something taking over my spare time...like my son. Oh, I'm not complaining but I will say that when I retire I will have a garage full of stuff...that will be out dated - again! Love the project and I will hate to see it end...unless you plan on making a Lego's version! http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g267/TFOGas/Blog/lego_guitar_hero21.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v130/AmateurPsycho/legoguitar.jpg
  8. Here's another one to add to this list! If your wife was born in the year of the ________________ , (fill in your Chinese zodiac sign here) - she will then wear red panties that year... read on: In China, the color red means prosperity, and is often worn during a person’s zodiac year to mitigate its predicted inauspicious effects. While this is a mere guideline for shirts and slacks and other pieces of clothing, it’s often taken as an iron clad rule for underwear. It’s OK to wear a blue shirt during your zodiac year just so you’re sporting the auspiciously colored underwear. For 12 months straight these red underwear of good luck and prosperity will be worn, and will not be changed up for another color until the following New Year - Lets just hope the wife has a good stock of underwear on hand!

  10. I’ll never forget this Chinese girl I once dated. She was very cute and reserved and always was showering me with gifts that had been given to her father. Her father (he was a big shot in China) sent his 2 daughters here in the US to study and then instructed them to stay here for reasons known. He was a go between the government owned factories and the US buyers. When he traveled back and forth from China to the US he usually came with a big entourage of people. One person who made the itinerary, one who made the food happened, one who took care of the clothes and baggage, one took care of meetings with dignitaries, etc, etc. There was also this one guy who was in charge of watching all the other people. . I think you get the picture. p.s. one of my prized gifts was a gold plated key to a city in Canada! LOL ! good job. just remember for every counter measure there is a counter-countermeasure!
  11. If you have the Publication Numbers, please show them to us. Most govnmt pub. numbers can be looked up on the internet and printed... One more piece of wood for our SS fire!
  12. That would be your Windows computer account password, right? I had to use one once to get into my Admin account. The way it works is with trial and error, with unlimited tries. It just keeps trying until it hits the right combination (0, 1, 2, etc., etc., etc.) which matches the encryption stored in the machine. Takes about 5 minutes to get all accounts. Yes...but the app that I use gets all of the user passwords on one strike. Allows you to also delete passwords too! Jesse's best bet is to either power down and put an admin password in the BIOS or hibernate with a password required when bringing out of hibernation or sleep for that matter.
  13. There are several apps out there that can "read" passwords in Windows XP, Windows 7 and 8. The apps boot the system in linux and then reads user names, logins and passwords. We all use these in the IT industry Just keep changing your password!
  14. Of course you of all people should know, there is more than one way to skin a cow... or is that a cat...

It seems all that money he has been giving you through the VA' he wants to get it back, one way or another. Did you use the hack-o-later to see how long he's figuring that ya going to live? I did and if I don't stretch the truth too much I got another 20 years left...maybe unkie samie's hack-o-later needs new batteries...you think?
  18. I was discussing the SS benifits last night and I pulled up my handy dandy littlle government supplied Hack-U-later that they supply (I wonder why?) and we came up with several different formulas http://i49.tinypic.com/2d778fl.jpg They also make suggestions They also make several suggestions as to what I need to do after I retire... I really like the last one! Remember to tell us whenever there's any change in your life circumstance that affects your benefits. For example, we should be notified if you: Move Marry or divorce Change your name Learn your estimated earnings will change Change your Direct Deposit accounts Adopt a child Are no longer caring for a child who receives benefits Are a non-citizen and your status changes Start getting a pension from work not covered by Social Security Get both Social Security and Railroad Retirement benefits Leave the United States for more than 30 days Become unable to manage your funds Are convicted of a criminal offense Die. A walk in the park

WOW! Great pictures Jessie. It also reminds me of my adventures through China. We have these same practices here in America though but not as visible as you have in China. My mother goes to the community center in town where all of her friends gather to do exercises, arts, exchange stories, field trips and other activities. Of course this is Monday through Friday. She looks forward to her little part of the world of old retirement activities that they schedule for them. When she comes back she describes all of the people there and what they say. Kind of like a bowl of colored marbles and each one having a special sparkle when the light hits it. On Wednesday they all look forward to their “Pot Luck” lunch where everyone brings a dish of their own ethnicity type of food. Of course, Mother is from Greece and she takes pride in how she makes her tasty dish so that her friends can enjoy a little part of the world that they will never see. She clamors about how they all want a part of her world to taste. Because of my wife’s background, she tells me about a little lady from China and how young she (55) is to be at the center where the majority of those are 65 – 80 years young. Then she explains to the Chinese lady about how her daughter in law is Chinese and they start a new conversation about different stuff that retired people will talk about. I often listen to her conversations with a distant stare wondering if this is my future. Will I also go to a center where old people gather and have fun, exercise, and have “pot luck “ lunches or will I just stay at home and get pampered by my young Chinese wife. Heck, I’m like a lot of other guys here on the board whose is almost at retirement age as you and is raising a child who is not even 10 yet. Me, retire early, I don’t think so! Jessie, no matter what you decide to do just remember to live today like there is no tomorrow. p.s. - Smiling is something that is understood by everyone despite culture, race, or religion; it is internationally known.
  22. You guys are welcome! I just hope others take it to heart and put the ink on the paper to show your loved ones that you really care about them in more ways than one! Go ahead and fill it out on a rainy day! . You will will feel better once you did!
  23. OK - Since the passing of one our own I decided to post for a limited time a "guide to estate planning". I found this a very resourceful guide in organizing and helping me put together parts of the puzzle that you need in order to make things easier for your loved ones in case of your demise. This is in PDF format and basically a "Letter of Instructions" to help you with giving your loved ones the proper information that is needed in detail. This is not to be confused with a will but as a guide to putting all your information together in one place It also reads "Like all estate planning documents, it should be reviewed and updated periodically". If you have any other questions, please consult an attorney who can better answer your questions on wills and insurance. Letter of Instructions
