  1. Yeah, you're right, with manila folders, the stuff could fall out. What kind of accordion folder do you mean?
  2. I was looking back through the post and it is nice to note that some of the folks posting back in 2003 are still here.
  3. What do you guys think is the best way to present the evidence at the interview? I read on the FAQs (I think) that 1 inch binders and such are not practical because they won't fit through the slot at the interview. So after looking at all manner of folders, binders, reports covers and the like at Office Depot, I am trying to decide. I actually think a good and easy way would be to put the various types of evidence into separate plain manila folders -- one for phone bills, another for Moneygram receipts, a few for e-mails, etc. And then maybe show the photos in little albums like the ones they give you when you get them developed. What do you think?
  4. Dumbass Mexican? Nah, them's thread-closin' words. How about "individual of differing mental abilities"?
  5. Let's close the thread. And also, from now on, let's dispense with all these racist and sexist slurs and henceforth refer to all visa officers as "individuals." So when my wife finishes her interview and I post the results, if anyone asks who the VO was, I will say "an individual." And if I'm asked the individual's gender or physical attributes, I'll say, "What does that have to do with the person's ability to do the job of visa issuance or denial?" In fact, I object to our Web site being so fixated on a particular country. I think we should change the heading "U.S. Immigration for Chinese loved ones" to "International Immigration for Individuals."
  6. So in theory I wouldn't need the I-864 or the I-134, but to be safe, maybe I should bring both?
  7. Oh, OK, gotcha. Because -- and I'm sure our government knows this -- how could it be a serious marriage unless the guy goes around broke all the time, having handed over most of his funding to his spouse?
  8. On here there has been debate about whether or not to include as evidence forms showing you have sent your fiancee/spouse money. On the FAQs someone suggests that it actually may not be good evidence. I noticed that on my wife's interview instructions (OF-171), they suggest bringing as evidence "receipts for money orders the petitioner has sent the applicant from the United States." I might bring a few.
  9. For CR-1, should I be bringing the I-864 to Guangzhou, or the I-134? I already did the I-864 during NVC processing, of course.
  10. At the NVC stage, CR-1 takes three to four months. K3 takes about two weeks, if that.
  11. I wouldn't give it a second thought since there's nothing you can do about it now that the form is sealed away inside the medical envelope. Just have her prepared to answer the question if it comes up. 154634[/snapback] Does the interviewer open the envelope at the interview? Does he/she spend much time looking at those forms?
  12. You know the P4 forms ... the family composition sheet? On question 5, I didn't know what we should put ... it's asking how the petitioner entered the U.S. Well, I'm a citizen. I was born here. My wife left that one blank. Now, she's already had the medical exam and it is sealed up in the envelope. Will that be a problem at the interview? Do they look at those forms carefully, and would they let her fill in the answer?
  13. When I am in China, can I buy two one-way tickets to America using a credit card? Or do I need to have the cash available? Are most people buying their post-interview tickets to the U.S. in advance, or waiting until after the interview? Thanks, James
  14. OK, I've been reading the archives and I'm still confused. I paid $335 during the NVC stage. Do I still have to pay something at the consulate, or to a bank in advance?
  15. Thanks ... and how long will we need to stay in Guangzhou? Will we pick up the visa there or will it be mailed?
  16. Does anyone know the best way to buy domestic airplane tickets in China? We need to fly from either Changzhou or Shanghai to Guangzhou for the interview, and we'd like to do it as cheaply as possible. Also, what are most people doing regarding transportation back to the U.S.? Buying the tickets in advance or waiting until the interview is passed? What rates and availablility could I expect for two one-ways? And my last question(s) -- after a successful interview, how long is it taking to get the visa? Do you pick up the visa in Guangzhou or do they mail it to you? Sorry for all the questions! What with getting a new job, moving to a new city, getting a new apartment, and getting an interview date all in the last few weeks, I have had a lot going on ...
  17. It's me, James. I haven't posted in a while. I used to post as "James." Then I lost track of my password, and every time I tried to do the "I lost my password" function, which was many times, it said I would be receiving an e-mail shortly ... but it never came. I've been really busy lately ... got a new job and moved to a new city. Anyway, our interview is scheduled for Sept. 27. Hope everyone is doing well.
