Bumble Bee Foods recalls 31,500 cases of Chunk Light tuna
Thomas Promise posted a topic in Stateside
Customers are advised to throw out cans of three types of tuna because of "deviations" in the usual sterilization process. There's a chance this led to contamination by pathogens, which could be life-threatening if consumed. http://www.aol.com/article/2016/03/17/bumble-bee-foods-recalls-31-500-cases-of-canned-chunk-light-tuna/21329289/ -

International Women's Day (IWD), is celebrated on March 8 every year.[2] In different regions the focus of the celebrations ranges from general celebration of respect, appreciation, and love towards women for women's economic, political, and social achievements. Started as a Socialist political event, the holiday blended the culture of many countries, primarily in Europe, In some regions, the day lost its political flavor, and became simply an occasion for people to express their love for women in a way somewhat similar to a mixture of Mother's Day and Valentine's Day. In other regions, however, the political and human rights theme designated by the United Nations runs strong, and political and social awareness of the struggles of women worldwide are brought out and examined in a hopeful manner. Some people celebrate the day by wearing purple ribbons.

Character actor Abe Vigoda, whose leathery, sad-eyed face made him ideal for playing the over-the-hill detective Phil Fish in the 1970s TV series "Barney Miller" and the doomed Mafia soldier in "The Godfather," died Tuesday at age 94. Vigoda's daughter, Carol Vigoda Fuchs, told The Associated Press that Vigoda died Tuesday morning in his sleep at Fuchs' home in Woodland Park, New Jersey. The cause of death was old age. "This man was never sick," Fuchs said. http://www.denverpost.com/breakingnews/ci_29434213/abe-vigoda-sunken-eyed-character-actor-dead-at?source=rss https://youtu.be/d30Y0n1nDH4

China has geared up to cope with the winter's coldest weekend as the worst cold front in decades sweeps across the country. The national observatory raised the weather warning level from yellow to orange on Saturday morning. My wife's city of sultry Nanning had a dusting of snow and ice rain this past weekend. http://en.people.cn/n3/2016/0124/c90882-9008491.html
