  1. Thanks Cheffy. We may try this place down under. By the way ya got any hints where we can find some Basil (fresh of course) and Parmasean-Reggino in Nanning? FUR GIT ABOUT IT!!... I remember my first trip to Nanning. I promised Lilyana I would make an Al Fredo base sauce. Could'nt find that Reggiano if my life depended on it. In addition, had no luck with cream. So, it was off to a famous eatery that served snake, turtle, black chicken, owl and something else that Lilyana could not expalin Hot Pot. This place takes all day to cook this Nanning delicase. Maybe you can ask your fiancee about this joint. Actually, it was quite good. Everything did taste like chicken.... Anyway, if ya really need that cheese and basil, I believe there is a western market in Nanning that may sell those products. Unfortunately, I don't remember the name and it is expensive as hell. Better to grow some basil, milk a cow and come back to Nanning in 10-15 years and the cheese should be perfect....

  7. You can breakdown CFL into two phases: Phase 1) Everything you wanted to know about immigration. But were afraid to ask..... Phase 2) Everything you wanted to know about mop slap training after the arrival of your love one. But were afraid to ask.....her B)
  8. Well, here is the seven official steps that must be met to obtain a k-1 Visa. Please note the part at the beginning were it says, ".... are simple but firm...." Thus, if you have all the supporting documents that support these 'simple steps' sent and received by USCIS, NVC, GUZ, The Boys Scouts, Girl Scouts and etc. then....'simple steps'......you get the 'Pink'. If not.....you get the other color of the day. Unforturnately, these ''simple steps' don't tell ya what to do if you get a VO who happens to have a 'simple...bad hair day':. K1 FIANCEE VISA REQUIREMENTS The immigration requirements for a K1 Visa are simple but firm: The petitioner must be a United States citizen. Legal Permanent Resident ¡°Green Card¡± holders of the U.S. are not allowed to obtain a K1 Visa for their foreign fiancee. Both the petitioner (U.S. citizen) and the beneficiary (foreign fiancee) must be free to marry. This means that if either has been previously married he or she must be either divorced or widowed, or else the marriage must be legally annulled. The petitioner and foreign fiancee must have the intent to marry within 90 days of the foreign fiancee¡¯s arrival in the U.S. The petitioner and foreign fiancee must have met in person within two years prior to filing the fiancee visa petition with the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (the USCIS and formerly the "INS" - Immigration and Naturalization Service ). There is a hardship waiver available for this requirement, but it is extremely difficult to obtain. The fact that the petitioner is too busy with his work, children, sick parent, etc. will not be adequate to obtain the waiver. To qualify for a waiver, most often there is a medical condition that prevents the US citizen from international travel. The U.S. citizen petitioner must meet a minimum income requirement that is the poverty level set by Congress every February. The current requirements are listed below: Size of Family Unit 48 Contiguous States and D.C. Alaska Hawaii 1 $9,800 $12,250 $11,270 2 13,200 16,500 15,180 3 16,600 20,750 19,090 4 20,000 25,000 23,000 5 23,400 29,250 26,910 6 26,800 33,500 30,820 7 30,200 37,750 34,730 8 33,600 42,000 38,640 For each additional person, add 3,400 4,250 3,910 If the petitioner cannot meet these requirements he is allowed to use a co-sponsor who does meet them. The co-sponsor¡¯s income must meet the requirement for a number of dependents that includes himself, the petitioner, each of their immediate family members, the foreign fiancee and any children of the fiancee who will be receiving a K2 visa and coming to the U.S. In addition, any children for which either the co-sponsor or petitioner is paying child support and any fomer spouse for which he is paying alimony also count as dependents. The foreign fiancee must pass a medical exam at a clinic approved by the U.S. Consulate that is processing the fiancee visa application. The fiancee must not have any type of communicable disease or serious mental illness. The foreign fiancee must also not have a criminal record. Some arrests and/or convictions are exempt from this requirement. If this is a concern in your situation you should consult an immigration attorney experienced with fiancee visas before proceeding further. © 2002 - 2006 Fiance Visa Info
  9. The original is required... After you tape it back together...the only thing that I would say... the dog did it! That may be good evidence to prove the marriage is valid. Good Luck Sorry to read about this unfortunate incident. I would certainly suggest all the above suggestions. Except, I would not use the dog done did it. Rather, a toddler got a hold of this and other papers...good luck.
  10. Funny....I was thinking this point brings back the infamous, "Chicago Style of Governemnt", as run by the late Richard Daley. Specifically, the sixties. Then, I think of my first visit to China. My impressions upon my return, was a society that was living life they way we did in the sixties. Ahh...the good old days...
  11. In Tampa, we went to an office park for the Biometrics appointment. There was a sign posted outside the door that said, "No Cell Phones Allowed". However, some people left their phones on a vibrate mode. If they got a call, they went outside to take the call. I personally got caught with a cup of Starbucks coffee. The grumpy guard made me throw it away. I guess I missed the sign that said, "No Food Or Drinks Allowed Past this Point"...
  12. Ty,.....Congratulations, to you and your family!! Any chance of you dreaming the winning Lotto numbers for Florida's drawing tomorrow?.....
  13. CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU BOTH! :redblob:
  14. DAVE, CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU & JING! Told ya...She's a Nanning Girl. Now get her here to Sarasota and let your new life together be happy and prosperous.... ps: Get yourself ready and prepared for the mop slapping lessons. Nobody can dish out mop slapping lessons like a Nanning woman....
  15. Back when I filed the initial app it was only taking approx. 10 days to get the NOA1. Is it really taking more than a few months to get NOA1?
  16. Speaking for myself....I called USCIS at every opportunity I could. So, I would say yes to your question. Also, did you keep copies of everything you sent and do you have verifcation from your mailing source that they did indeed receive your application?
  17. CONGRATULATIONS MAGGIE!!! OUR, "LADY OF FREEDOM", IS SMILING UPON YOU AS ALL AMERICANS SHARE YOUR EXCITEMENT AND JOY!!
  18. Wow!! Congrats & best wishes for you both.... .
  19. HAPPY THANKSGIVING YA ALL!! Here is a fushion style recipe for sweet potatoes. Most Chinese SO enjoy sweet potatoes and spicy food. This recipe would go well with a smoke turkey or other southwestern type steak or chicken. But hey, try making these today. This recipe is so easy, even TRIGG and THE DON can make em. However, I think my good friends from Texas, RANDY W & TOPLAW would have difficulty.... Spicy Smashed Sweet Potatoes 3 large sweet potatoes, peeled and cubed 3 tablespoons unsalted butter 1 tablespoon sambal oleek 1 teaspoon adobo sauce from small can of ancho peppers 1 teaspoon salt Put cubed potatoes into steamer basket and place steamer into a large pot of simmering water that is no closer than 2 inches from the bottom of basket. Allow to steam for 20 minutes or until the potatoes are fork tender. Add butter to potatoes and mash with potato masher. Add sambal oleek, sauce, and salt and continue mashing to combine. Serve immediately.
  20. CONGRATTS!!!! MICHAEL & FANG!!! WHAT A WONDERFUL THANKSGIVING YOU TWO ARE HAVING!! SO, HAVE A CHICKEN TO CELEBRATE THANKSGIVING IF YOU ARE STILL IN CHINA...
  21. Let's be clear. Roger is NOT an attorney. He is simply a private person who is an entreprenuer. He saw a need, and fulfilled it. The need: virtually all the Chinese women haven't a clue how to fill out paperwork on their end. Not to mention, while the American citizen may better understand the process, there is a high liklihood that they do NOT understand the many facets of the process. Roger is NOT acting on their behalf, but simply assisting in the completion of paperwork. Makes sure all the i's are dotted and t's crossed. This service provides more peace of mind to the American than can be expressed here. A telephone call to Roger can in turn provide you a service of having him call your partner on the telephone to explain or embellish a topic, help complete a form, or otherwise. Again, he is NOT an attorney, simply a third party providing a service. While he assists with the forms, he is NOT acting on your behalf. For me, I wished I'd used this service as the large number of headaches and misunderstandings could have been prevented. Uh...pardon me but isn't that what our own CFL member, Eunice, (smilingasia), is skilled in? Did Eunice move back to China? Roger is right there in China, specifically Nanning. Because he is right there, he is able to quickly respond to needs. In the end, it's up to the individual. What's often forgotten here, are the challenges that one must undergo during the process. The challenges get most difficult after the paperwork gets to China, not so much before. I can not stress enough the tremendous assistance that Roger did for Lilyana on her side of the fence....China. It is so simple for us to fill out the all the forms on our side of the fence....USA. The problem is as Jesse mentions is the confusion and quite frankly the fear our SO has when they receive package three. Thus, Roger, WHO is not an attorney, but a very gifted guy who makes sure that her paper work is accurate and your paper work is done correctly too. In addition, he provides role play scenarios of potential VO questions. Again, his success rate with his clients are extremely high. I wonder why his success rate is so high...hm mm....maybe because he indeed prepares our SO for any possible pitfalls... Thus, giving them that extra boost of confidence at their interview. Finally, Roger use to work for some of USA high fluent immigration law firms....guess what they did with the visa forms that needed to be completed....you got it!! They sent them to Roger. Now ya all know everything there is about Roger Lin.
  22. Hi Yemmie....I'm glad I found you asking about Roger Lin. As stated above by various members that the forms to fill out are easy to complete and quite frankly can be done by yourself. However, the issue is what you and your fiancee is comfortable with. Lilyana & I had the same concerns you and your SO are experiencing. Lilyana comes from Nanning where Roger has his main office. It was very comforting to know that Lilyana & I had access to Roger at any time. Believe me, we both had many questions to ask of him. Such questions were always answered very promptly, and was very professional. He took the process from the very beginning and saw it through to the end. It appeared he would even know when we would be reciving the next packets. Lilyana was extremely happy because Roger would take the time to explain the entire k-1 process to her. Roger is Chinese and speaks fluent English. Best part of hiring Roger to file all the paper work necessary for your visa application, from start until she is in your arms State side is his price....$350.00 - $500.00 US., (the last I heard). Oh, did I mentioned his success rate is extremely high. Because he does not leave any stone uncovered. I would be happy to give you personal accounts about the stone business if you want to know more details, please PM me. Would I recommend Roger Lin....HELL YES!!!
  23. Just a little rambling & cheffie's two cents: 1) damn ass proud of the USA and all it stands for 2) damn ass proud of my wife...btw she's from China... Another two cents: 1) damn ass proud that the USA Women's Soccer team can still win the World Cup. Women's World Cup is being held in Shanghai, China and other major Chinese cities. Here is the link: http://www.fifa.com/womenworldcup/index.html 2) If the USA was not in contention and China was. I would be damm ass proud that my wife's country was....and she would know that too... Ahhh...Nationalism....who can disagree with that concept.
  24. I brought by special request,,,, multi vitamins for mom & dad, chocolates that you can't get in China; ie See's Chocolates or any other specialty chocolate stores. Lilyana & her family do not care for any nuts or cream inside their chocolates...just solid chocolate. When Lilyana went back to China, she bought gifrs that were unique from Florida. Lee, I would suggest looking for gifts tha are unique from Texas, such as; cowboy hats or upscale Indian jewerly. Finally, I would recommend bringing a personal chef, who could cook awesome authentic American food....like me..
