The quote there seems to refer to "your spouse" and "he or she"

dont you think it could go the other way as well, say one party only speaks a little english and she misunderstands something that is said to her. like when Jiaying thought penis was pronounced "Be Nice!" becasue that's what I had to say everytime she went near it?

Why wouldn't she just file in China? What David said.

I believe it's 100% of the same credits you get while you are married to her. I think. In any event (I think again) her credits are independent of yours. Entitlement on More than One Account

A similar case in Houston, with more dramatic results.

How Do I Type in Chinese characters?
Randy W replied to RLS's topic in Culture & Language Discussion
Adobe was pretty much the graphics standard - first on UNIX, then MAC's, and finally PC's. They are one company that Microsoft has never been able to dent the business of. I paid $1000 for 32M of memory on my first PC so that I could run Photoshop 3.0 on it. -
My placebo response is that she is eligible for YOUR benefits as you state. But she is eligible for HER OWN benefits after the 40 quarters. These 40 quarters can include quarters where she didn't work, but her husband did.

How Do I Type in Chinese characters?

NTFS is a file system - under the old FAT system, file space was allocated in a fixed size, depending on partition (logical disk drive) size - for a large partition, this was 128K. Even to store a single byte, 128K of disk space would be allocated. No longer true under NTFS. But this had nothing to do with memory usage or program execution. -
What the heck does THIS mean?
Randy W replied to kevinbeijing's topic in AOS & Immigration Challenges
Only for employment-based applications. There is only a limited number every year. -
Translators must not be family members (although some have reported using other family members), but may be of your own choosing. If you don't have a translator with you, they may reschedule for a later date.

Thanks Randy, you answered my question. I was also almost certain of this but wanted to clarify it to my wife. A green card also serves as a work permit. The EAD is only a quicker way to a work permit (Job card). In response to your statement about wasting money on the EAD. If the GC would for some reason arrive prior to the EAD it most certainly would be a waste of money on the EAD. In your case you haven't wasted any money on the EAD, because your still waiting for your GC. I'm not sure what you were implying about the two weeks. I was in frustration towards my wife's persistence of the job card being sarcastic about me now being compliant with her wishes of acquiring the EAD. Even if the EAD arrived only two weeks prior to the GC. I hope those two sentences weren't too confusing. Be thankful you can't look in my head right now, it's a screwed up mess right now due to the convoluted mess our .gov has created. No, it's the same wastage, just twice as much! And necessary, as you are pointing out. But we paid for our green card - they just get a guaranteed annual income of $180 while we're waiting. I think the bottom line is don't count on getting a fast green card. There's nothing wrong with waiting to see if maybe you get it, but I think that's been WAY over-emphasized here and elsewhere. If your wife wants to work NOW, apply for the EAD. If you want to see if maybe you can save a few bucks, wait and see. If it doesn't come, you've lost 90 days. By the way, most employers will hire her with the I-797C as proof that she will have the EAD within 90 days.

I'm going to file the I-765 and the I-131 along with the I-485 as we plan on returning to China in 2008 for the Chinese New Year. Originally I was going to omit the I-765 as I've heard that the GC process is fairly quick in my area. But I can no longer take the stress from my wife. I'm now at the point that if the GC would come only 2 weeks later than the EAD that's too long. It's a choice. You do not have to file for EAD. If she does not have either EAD or the green card, she can not work. The green card does authorize work even if she doesn't apply for EAD. I believe your choice would be to file for the EAD and the green card at the same time. Some claim to have "wasted the money" if the green card comes before the EAD. We have "wasted the money" twice while waiting for the green card. Again - check the processing times before you make your decision. But why would you risk the 2 weeks?
-
Yes - the EAD card is faster - by as much as 2 years, depending on your processing center (be sure to check the processing times). But there are people who have gotten their green card before the EAD could be processed. If you decide to wait, you can file for EAD later by including the I797C for the AOS application (I-485).

Yes - about 3 stories - and yes the safety brake works. They tell me you want to hit the floor lengthwise when it finally comes to a stop - it helps to spread the impact that way. No it wasn't me - I worked on the first floor, and no it wasn't the Tower of Terror at Disneyworld. One lady was out for a few weeks.

I think it's an ADA requirement. The garage don't want to be sued by a blind driver who couldn't find their way in the elevator. If he has a chain saw, I'm giving him my parking spot!

Sponsored someone else, then divorce...
Randy W replied to mandarinstudent's topic in Consulate Process: P-3 ~ Interview
This is true only if his ex sues, and he has a lousy lawyer. Otherwise, the I-864 should be taken for what it says. -
We had a member whose wife didn't like her daughter imitating the Road Runner here in the US for the same reason.

Silly Application Support Center chaos?
Randy W replied to trickyspark's topic in AOS & Immigration Challenges
We tried this also, but were turned away. The time we tried, however, was fairly crowded (the guy looked around the room first), so be sure to go late in the afternoon when they can tell if they have enough time for you. -
It's better if it has an entry stamp before the interview with no exit stamp, but hopefully they won't check this. We usually advise against mailing it because of the possibility of loss or theft.

Stuff needed for the interview?
Randy W replied to mandarinstudent's topic in Consulate Process: P-3 ~ Interview
Yes - if they are not ready to give a visa, they will ask for something else. They may even ask for something you already have, but they don't want to bother taking a look at. -
how much time b/w notification and k1 interview?
Randy W replied to Ursa's topic in Consulate Process: P-3 ~ Interview
. . . but also be aware that they don't necessarily assign dates in order. When we had our interview, they would start at the end of the month and work forward. The last people assigned one month would have as little as 2 weeks notice, while the first people assigned would get dates at the end of the month - as much as 2 months away. -
Very good! Congratulations.

Complete checklist here: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...mp;page=k1k3aos Thank you, Dan! I am a little confused. Since this is the AOS stage, does a K-1 visa holder, the I-485 applicant, become the petitioner? Yes, but applicant is the correct word. The petitioner for the original K-1 visa is still the same person. Try not to think.

I understand - just some myth interception here. That only time anyone has looked at my card since I got it was just a few years ago - and that was because I had given the DPS the wrong number back in 1966 (I had memorized it off by one digit) - they finally caught up with me about 3 years ago. Sorry, but that link is for - basically, if you'reNOT presently work authorized - and mailing the needed documents seems to be a worse choice then waiting in line.
