  1. Yes - but the Advance Parole (AP) I-131 form may be filed with your AOS application if you wish to travel before you receive your green card. AOS processing can take anywhere from a few months to several years. Without AP, you will be unable to return if you leave the country. Although, again, the new procedure is up for grabs. If it's like DORA, they might wait 3 months, tell you it's not approved, and to file the I-131 separately.
  2. Yes - practice in 1st gear from a stop on a level surface. From a stop, push on the gas (only - no brake, no clutch) until the engine is going around 2000 RPM. If you don't have a tachometer to show the engine speed, just push on the gas until it's going about twice as fast as with the gas pedal off. Hold the gas at this speed. Let the clutch out SLOWLY. If the engine speed slows, push a little more on the gas. Keep going this way until the car is going around 20 MPH with the clutch out. Take your foot off the gas, let the clutch out, and brake. Do this one step at a time, until you can coordinate the gas, the clutch, and the brake all together. Keep practicing like this until you can always get the car moving without killing the engine. The rest is easy.
  3. Who knows... I thought that they did things chronologically, but the fact that Kris-Jing's P4 was sent out yesterday, and their interview date is 9/25 confuses me big time. Mine was sent out today but interview date is 9/15... wonder how that is... perhaps mine was processed before theirs or something... I don't know. They have usually assigned interview dates in inverse order - when they begin assigning dates for a month, the dates are assigned from the end of the month forward. The last dates assigned - at the beginning of the month - occasionally have had as little as 2 weeks notice.
  4. Yes - it has happened - check back tomorrow - keep thinking pink
  5. Once your case is approved by USCIS (NOA2), they are done with it.DOS does not provide online updates.
  6. Right now is the time of year to order rhizomes, here is a link on planting and growing them Growing Irises. The Portland area has tons of Iris Farms. They do very well in TX also. Shouldn't you wait until Sept or Oct in TX?
  7. Mike, what stamp are you referring to above? The I-551 stamp? This is the first time I've heard of the I-551 stamp being "no longer valid" after receipt of the GC card. What makes you say that? I am under the impression that the I-551 stamp will be valid so long as the passport is valid. Or put another way, there's no expiration date on the stamp itself, but only expires in conjunction with the expiry of the NON-US passport. http://www.state.nd.us/humanservices/policymanuals/foodstamps-508/image/i-551_-_stamp_in_foreign_passport.gif
  8. It was closer to 2 months, unless you had a need for it sooner, but as of July 30, there is a new system in effect where the AP is included with the AOS, so all bets are off on a timeframe, Hopefully, this won't mean that you might have to wait 3 months, find out your case is delayed, and then submit a separate application (like with DORA). That's why I said wait and see. No one that we know of has submitted an application under the new procedure.
  9. Randy, did your Master Calendar hearing go well? Is it positive? you are confident in the attorney? The hearing is scheduled for Nov 15. It looks like no matter who loses, they would appeal. So it would be a year or longer before any kind of a settlement. In the meantime, his family - father, grandmother, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc. are all back in China with no hope of him going back for a visit. So we'll have to wait and see what the lawyer (yes she's a good one) comes up with between now and Nov. Thanks
  10. You would want to apply for AP (acdvanced parole), which is now included with the AOS. If it works anything like what it used to, you would have your AP form in hand within 90 days from when you apply. Watch to see how that develops, though, for those who file after July 30
  11. Check the A#'s on the I-94 and the green card. They should be the same.
  12. I don't know, but I'll reply anyway since we're both here - I think you MUST go back and get them to correct the mistake. I suppose she could always leave the country, and come back in, even just in the airport, but it's probably best to get them to do it right. and welcome them back for us!
  13. Try your DVD player. It's very likely that it will play them, especially if it is a Japanese make. If not your computer will.
  14. Especially considering that they have to be able to deal with deaf people. Most of the driving testers are adequately fluent in 'pointing' to be able to get through a driving test with anyone.

  17. She is K3, a multiple entry visa - AP is not needed.
  18. . . . and guess what? They're all HERE while we're waiting to find out if any of them are deportable criminals or terrorists.
  19. The best I could do: USCIS policy Naturalization Loophole My Background Check is Taking Forever!
  20. I think our lawyer told us about this. I'll see if I can find anything tonight.
  21. I believe that even if oil is found by drilling on a neighbor's property, Jim would still get his share based on how much was beneath his property. Is that correct?
  22. I'll also say here that the EAD card is the first federal ID card she will get - the only one until the green card arrives - to show legal presence.
  23. They wouldn't... The green card satisfies the proof of work eligibility and identity necessary to work in the United States. Most employers use an SS# as an identifier and we all know the SS# is used to deduct taxes from our paycheck. The concern for EAD has been the length of time it takes to receive the green card. In some cases I've heard of and seen, it takes just as long to get an EAD as it does the green card and the argument could be it's a waste of time and money Ron. Be well my friend! Thanks, Eric That's what I needed to know. Best to you and your family. Ron, you are talking about filing for AOS and getting a green card in the same breath. The wait for the green card can be anywhere from 3 months to 2 years and longer after applying for AOS. The wait for employment authorization is 2 to 3 months. EAD, of course, is optional and serves to fill the gap (if there is one) until the green card arrives.
