  1. You can dial a little bit of "peer pressure" into that custom, as I'm sure you're aware. But you need to play it by ear and keep an open mind.
  2. GUZ is essentially not answerable to anyone, except on paper. If you are treated wrongly, there is no recourse - no court to turn to. Keep us posted, and keep them aware that you're watching. And keep VERY good records of your communications with both GUZ and DOS about this.
  3. We hold the all-time record for shortest first contact to filing I-129F time (21 days) and did not run into any problems.
  4. Dan do you have a source for this, other than VJ? Love to oblige you. Title 42, 666 (a)(13)(A) http://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/search/d...66----000-.html No - at the other end - why did the INS make K-1's work authorized? It may be obvious to you and me, but is there a source of this apparent rumor? I think the K-1 (and it's work authorization) pre-date the SS recording requirement. No big deal - just curious

  6. I want to ask everyone (and maybe this would be better in the polls section) do your wives do this? Stomping out of the house in the middle of an argument, such that you have to follow her out to the sidewalk and try to get her to come back in? Not me. Even if I wanted to show how seriously I was angry, I dare not to. I guess I wasn't angry enough to loose my sense. My ex-wife would tell me "I'm leaving you" everytime our discussions reached a point of disagreement. 3 days later it was kiss and make-up, with nothing ever resolved. Finally, I told her, "If you're not out by Feb 2, I will be". Games like that are not worth playing if they interfere with communication.
  7. Of course, they will issue one to a K-2 with an EAD card. Dan do you have a source for this, other than VJ?
  8. Carl - the policy is that IF an SSN is required by a government agency, you must supply a letter from that government agency stating that it is required. This might happen for SS benefits or who knows what else. It's a long standing policy.
  9. Yea! but do you wear underware? Or underwear? software
  10. It will tell you on the letter which application the appointment is for (I believe they use the MSC numbers). If it is for both, they will list both MSC numbers.
  11. Wait - do you have a MSC number already for the I-485 that you CAN successfully enter? The way I read your post was that this was a second MSC number for the I-485.
  12. Sounds like it's a typo, and you need to get it fixed. Otherwise, the fingerprints may not show up in your file. InfoPass appointment time?
  13. Copies arranged neatly on 8 1/2x11 paper fit very neatly into your file.
  14. Any university with a Chinese presence is going to have a house nearby where Chinese students live. Look for one. They'll take care of her.
  15. Congratulations! It's good to hear!
  16. Sitting down or standing up is an issue now? Drop it already, Lance
  17. Lance - deductions have no bearing on whether you qualify - his gross income qualifies. His net income is what was 0. Why call someor a liar or a law-breaKer when you don't have the facts?
  18. IR-1 (two years after marriage) will get her a 10 yr green card - they have been married almost 10 years Edit - Oops - make that married 2 years
  19. The self-employed don't have 0 income - they have their own little section on their 1040's where they report their income. It shows uo on the gross income, just like everyone else's. I'll bet Jim's gross income was well into 6 or 7 figures - way above the poverty line. I think we've seen more times than just this that having a lot of money makes the interview go a lot smoother.
  20. What we don't know from what he told us is exactly HOW the law was satisfied, but it's doubtful that anyone either broke the law or lied. If I remember correctly, it's the gross income (before deductions) which is the figure used. In any event, the VO apparently knew enough about the business.
  21. Lance, you need to realize that what you see as "the law" is not binding on anyone. The VO's often do not look at financial evidence brought to the interview. The VO's can (and arbitrarily do, as Jim demonstrates) singel out any case they wish for additional scrutiny.
  22. As long as the car is insured, you can allow anyone to drive the car.
  23. You're a little too paranoid - some of us like you
  24. Congratulations, thank you, and come back and see us!
