  1. Yes - the only thing USCIS could do is to initiate deportation proceedings, which would call for a lawyer anyway. Get one now.
  2. What does the blue slip say? This is apparently another case of abuse of power - no matter how simple and straight-forward the requested documents may be, it is shattering to be treated this way. Sorry it happened to your fiance.
  3. If she is K-1 and applying within 75 days of arrival, she is work authorized and doesn't need it. Print some of the forms and take them with you to show to a supervisor - http://candleforlove.com/forums/index.php?...st&p=124324 from EM00154 The document showing work eligibility is the I-94 (in her passport)
  4. No - nowadays, you use your expired green card and the I-797C. I think somebody did that, but I don't know who.
  5. Before Christmas, he said that he was expecting his P3 early this month (January) and planning a trip on Jan 31 Yes he was about a month behind me and was hoping for a Valentine day present!! I did PM him but no response?? He's retired as a CFL member - hasn't logged in since Nov - try an email
  6. Before Christmas, he said that he was expecting his P3 early this month (January) and planning a trip on Jan 31
  7. The K-3's can wait 2 years after arriving before filing to adjust status until the visa expires. Apparently this works. A K-1 doing this would be more questionable, since they would go out of status for more than a year.
  8. I agree - I think it's always best to answer the questions - just make sure that any doors that the documents might open for the VO can be easily closed - e.g., I had a list of deposits that were made from my brokerage account showing the withdrawal from the brokerage account.
  9. I guarantee Maximum Appreciation of your money Just send it to Don - he'll know what to do with it.
  10. I'll give you whatever return you want - just let me know http://i1.tinypic.com/72rq5gn.jpg By the way, your 1000 RMB on Dec 29, 2005 is worth 1206.81 RMB on Jan 4, 2008 - more than a 20% return over 2 years. and Mike - the return on FXI is pretty much the same as MCHFX over the same period.
  11. They say it's the first thing to go, Roger (the money, that is), but I used the same spreadsheet I used last year. It starts with daily quotes from oanda.com, and then you had me add in the 3.06% return you say you can get on your RMB savings account.
  12. or your last payment, whichever comes first.
  13. The percentages range from 6%-14.5% for Mixed stones jewelry, 10.5%-45% for diamonds-only jewelry, or 59% for loose diamonds. A $135 million fund as been set aside for those who bother to file a claim. The higher percentages apply if fewer people file a claim.
  14. IllinoisDave vindicated - $295 million Class Action Settlement Think of it as an unexpected return on your romantic investment. As long as you kept the receipt. Visit http://www.diamondsclassaction.com or call 1-800-760-5431
  15. He is starting over after a NOID - Notice of Intent to Denial. His case has been returned to the USCIS and is languishing somewhere there. The InfoPass appt is a good idea, but you may want to talk to a lawyer who is familiar with NOID processing to make sure it doesn't bite you somewhere down the line.
  16. I agree with Dennis - rumors get started when someone shows pictures like these, and then is blue-slipped for relationship evidence. If they want to delay your visa, they will. They just need any reason to fill in the blank. USCONGUZ has assured us that they know the difference between a ceremony and a wedding.
  17. If you had invested $1000 in each of the Mathews China Fund, the Fidelity China Fund, Kerry Properties Hong Kong (0683.HK), and the RMB (with 3.06% interest) on Dec. 29, 2005, this chart shows what each would be worth today. http://i10.tinypic.com/8fy431w.jpg
  18. I'm pretty sure it needs to be 9 digits. Apparently, that 1st "0" is optional, though at least to the IO at the POE.
  19. What a tremendous stroke of good luck! Good for you guys!
  20. http://thetwinzone.com/forum/images/smilies/silly/cancanbums8jx.gif Way to go, Roger !! http://www.ronaldreagan.com/forums/images/smilies/crazy.gif
  21. No, there's not, but the answer you give doesn't seem to make any difference. That is, the reaction from the VO seems to be along the lines of, "Oh, that's nice" and then along to the next question. If the web site did NOT offer any special services like introductions, translations, etc., then the answer would be no. If it did, then post what services it offered, or the name of the web site, and someone will come up with an answer.
  22. Randy, are you saying I have to go back to the civil surgeon and get "another" sealed envelope? I sent in the one he gave me. She turned in 1 at the POE. You need the vaccination supplement, which I assume was in the one you've already sent in. That's a grand total of 2 sealed envelopes. The one turned in at the POE contains ALL of her paperwork from GUZ. 1 )The beneficiary's medical exam, AIDS test results and 2 ) vaccination supplement in the physician's sealed envelope. 1 ) is in the one turned in at the POE In other words, they may ask for things they already have, in which case you're cool. If they RFE for something, however, it means they either don't have it or couldn't find it. If this happens, line up another one.
  23. I sent in the civil surgeons "sealed" envelope with the AOS application. Don't they already have it? I don't have any "sealed" envelope. Someone ... anyone? Her medical exam was in the sealed envelope that she turned in at the POE. You only need to provide the vaccination supplement I-693A (also in a sealed envelope), which your civil surgeon has.
