  1. An immigration related SS card will state that it IS valid for employment "with DHS authorization". This notation can only be removed after she receives the green card. Many employers will hire with this and the I-797C, since it means that she should be receiving the EAD card within 90 days.
  2. The case status is: "Response to request for evidence received, and case processing has resumed" The NBC (Missouri) is where they are initially processed. From there, they can be forwarded to the California Service Center, or to a local service center, where an interview will be scheduled.
  3. I don't think he has a PayPal card yet. My wife used one with my name on it without any trouble. I agree that he probably won't get the missing card back I was speaking to the OP.
  4. Guess what's going to be a LOT more difficult to get for under $100 now? BUT - the directions for the new I-693 do say - Be sure and take YOUR OWN copy of these instructions to the civil surge3on.
  5. PayPal does not support Chinese characters. Use Pinyin. My wife had one in my name - no problem (except Yulin didn't have any compatible ATM's).
  6. I-693 (for a full medical exam, usually in Guangzhou) or the I-693A vaccination supplement are provided by the physician and submitted in a sealed envelope. If the Guangzhou medical exam I-693 is less than 1 year old, you do not need to submit a new one.
  7. They (US PayPal) offer a debit card which offers very cheap withdrawals in China - no need for the Chinese account if you can get the card to her.
  8. Do you live in China, or the US? If you live in China, you can file directly with your consulate, like Dan said.
  9. The Dept of State seems to be pretty quite on it, but Xinhua got it right - 5 consulates and 1 embassy
  10. The US will open its fifth consulate on the Chinese mainland in Wuhan in accordance with an agreement signed in 1981. - Xinhua
  11. Depending on your local office - most will want you to come back the next day and wait in line again before giving you the number (the lines are LONG in Houston)
  12. Do you know someone who knows Hillary Clinton? Rob's right - you can check the possibilities through the Visa Bulletin
  13. You cannot file concurrently with the I-485 - you must wait for the NOA1, and mail a copy of that in anyway.
  14. Jiaying's Social Security card still shows that same "restriction" - we don't plan on having it removed even after her green card arrives. It doesn't affect her employability. I have heard, however, that some employer's in other areas don't like it.
  15. You should have gotten a separate receipt - but look on the I-485 receipt to see if it says anything about the EAD. If not, the biometrics appt I-797C may suffice. I would suggest that you talk to her employer about her present situation, and what is the best course of action.
  16. If she has an SS #, and a I-797C for the EAD, she shouldn't have any problems in accepting the job. No, there is no other work permit.
  17. I did a search for the string "concurr" in the I-765 (EAD) instructions - it's not there. What it does say: You haven't filed your I-485 (AOS) yet - mail the whole thing to the Chicago lockbox, as per the I-485 directions. The I-765 address (P.O. Box 87485) applies only if you are sending in the I-785 AFTER the I-485.
  18. Celebrate now! Congratulations!
  19. Check Amazon.com (search for "Chinese" in the DVD section), and yesAsia.com, and check out Dish Network's Great Wall Package and the online Chinese broadcasts. DirecTV and most cable comp-anies offer Chinese programming as well.
  20. You can be right all you want, but you won't get the card until someone files the application with the SSA, either you or the USCIS. We've never heard of anyone getting the USCIS to do it.
  21. Yes - because he was over 18 when you married. She can apply for citizenship 3 years after she got her green card (I think). So it would be 2013 at the earliest before he could come.
  22. Then your wife can file an I-130, so that he could arrive in about 10 years. If he had been 18 at the time of the marriage, then you could have filed the I-130 yourself. As the son of an American citizen, it would take about 5 years. But if his mother becomes a citizen, that will shorten the wait to the same 5 years from the original I-130 filing.
  23. You gave no details - what is his mother's status? How old was he when you married? How long will he want to stay? Does he have a degree? Why will he be coming? But my first guess would be that your wife can file an I-130, if she's an LPR, so that he could arrive in about 10 years. Visitor's visa? A lot less time, but a lot less likely.
