  1. The Longman 8688 is sold as the Yishin 888 in the US, a top-rated translator. Does very well with hand writing recognition and sentences. For a dictionary, I like the Plecodict, sold for PDA's. It shows Chinese and English definitions together, so it bails us out fairly regularly.
  2. . OR . . . send her a letter at that address and see if she gets it
  3. I never knew you were so talented Randy... Ever since I learned that Will Robinson was behind "Fish Heads", I knew there was a standard to follow.
  4. Try pulling the power plug and then plugging it back in. This will reset the power supply if it blew a breaker. Listen for the beep, and watch the lights on the front panel to see if any come on. Just something cheap and easy to try, if you want to give it one more shot.
  5. I've never known anyone who wasn't welcome here just because they went to the wrong country. Stick around
  6. My advice would be to leave out the 'tears' and the 'jerks', and make it more readable at less than a page. 'Love' is not a requirement.
  7. The I-94 is the arrival-departure record she fills out on the plane. It will show her legal presence and for how long along with the I-551 stamp in her passport. AND she should get her green card in the mail in a couple of weeks
  8. Yes - make an InfoPass appointment to find out what was entered in the computer. It sounds like very little went wrong, if anything. Your son must wait for his EAD card to get an SSN - he is not work authorized, like the K-1's are. Be sure to apply (I-765) for one when you fill out his I-485 AOS application even if he doesn't plan to work - it's free, and provides a Federal picture ID that proves he's legal, and allows him to apply for an SSN. For your wife, bring the marriage license and see if her application doesn't go through.
  9. Some of those are fairly creative - IVIKE Well, one of them is.

  11. Those who are inclined to recline should mind those behind when they opine that the line of our incline is too fine, when they pine to dine, and decline.
  12. Yes - if you get the 2 year card now, you will have to apply to remove conditions 1 year and 9 months later - this is before he is eligible for citizenship, so he would not be able to skip that step. If he waits for the 10 year card, he won't have to re-apply or re-new, and can go straight to citizenship in 3 years after the green card date. In the over-all scheme of things that's a minor difference compared to what you're facing now. I would say choose the path that's the least stressful or that works the best for your plans.
  13. The problem is that things like changes of address, and interview rescheduling don't always take everywhere they need to. We've seen interview notices, which can't be forwarded, mailed to the old address. If your file shows up on your original date, they call your name and you're not there - you're immediately flagged as a no-show. It takes money (and time) to appeal this, as much as a year.
  14. Just wait, there are those who will be sure to show this as a negative thing going on in China, just like many other threads. Well, if your neighbor's don't fly in Chinese jets, and you don't see one on your way to work, . . .
  15. Sorry, but under a barrage of words like that, you'd say anything too. I wouldn't take these post-interview meetings with a VO too seriously.
  16. How long will it take you to get married, return to the US, and file your application for your wife? How long will it take you to file an application for your fiance (assuming you've met her within the past two years)? That's a big part of the difference right there. Processing time for a CR-1 or K-3 is usually a little bit longer than for a K-1.
  17. My wife had whacked her index finger with a meat cleaver at the age of seven, and still has the scars to show for it. Nonetheless, she did fine, until last year for the actual green card. Her last set was sent to the city of Houston, who turned them down twice because of the scars. So we had to go downtown ourselves to get a police report from the city of Houston, shich said basically that they had never heard of her.
  18. OK - just wondering. I tend to do my own bit-shuffling, rather than pay someone else.
  19. Yes, that's exactly what the 'Repair' option will do. Hopefully, they'll do a little more for your money. Most places will just reformat your hard drive and re-install the OS for you.
  20. How does this differ from the 'Repair' option on the XP installation CD?
  21. It is also quite common that it NOT happen. Good news! Congratulations!
  22. its all on c drive I think he means the memory card, on your motherboard.
