  1. We went to the center on Shamian Island; just like everyone else, it was pleasant but a good wait. We were there from 8-10AM.
  2. Your best guess for staying in Guangzhou, doing the medical, interview, and visa pick-up, should be 7 days. They don't post the visa package outside of Guangdong Province. Sorry!
  3. 1) The time they give is actually a "Line up outside" time. They allow people into the consulate according to these times, where they are given numbers (I believe randomly) which ultimately determine the interview time. The interviews occur into the afternoon. In fact, I think your best strategy for spending the least amount of time in the consulate would be to come late - say 10 or 11 o'clock - after the lines have gone down, but before they stop allowing people in. Of course, your BEST strategy is to be there when you are supposed be there. 2) They should be able to get the visa in the mail Thurs, Fri, or even Saturday. China Post (where you pick up the visa), I believe is open during the New Year holiday. Randy W is right on the button. The interview isn't actually at 7Am; it is much later than that. It's just for your SO to join a line and do pre-interview things (hand-in certain documents) before seeing the actual VO. VO's begin interviewing at 9AM and they will call the interviwees randomly, not by order.
  4. Congratulations! The baby can breathe a sigh of relief. No more stress from the parents.
  5. My wife read up on the IV proceedings on a Chinese forum, and found out that the Shamian clinic prefers the forms from the P4 package rather than the online ones. Also, they've refused some who printed the online forms. I don't get it, but it is what it is. Good luck, TaijiMonkey!
  6. The stuff in the brown package is basically most of the things you submitted to GUZ before and during the interview, just like darnell said. Congratulations on the visa pickup!
  7. I have been teaching in China for almost 5.5 years and had my parents write a letter stating that we would live with them. But the VO didn't bring up my domicile as a question, so my SO had no problems with this. Maybe difeerent VOs different moods.
  8. My wife's interview was on the 1st of December, and she picked up her visa package today. On the EMS online tracking site, it only said "Posting". As I check now, it still says the same thing. Wait for 2 days, and hopefully something will happen. Congratulations by the way!
  9. Congratulations! Best wishes!
