Hoping someone may can point me in the right direction as I am looking for a book in chinese " How to sew" or more detailed, how to use an electric sewing machine, but must be in Mandarin, Chinese. Thanks so much

My spouse's Father has become ill and she may have to travel back to china for a short while. She has her china passport, her SC state ID and her greencard and all is current. Anything else she needs to make her return and reentry to USA easy and quick. Dont want any issues for her return. Thanks for any info or past experiences you may have. Can anyone recommend a good chinese - english , english-chinese handheld electronic translator? Would like one that pinyin can be entered with a pen onto the screen or english. Want it to help my wife learn english and to help with daily situations that arise for her. Something not too large she can carry in her purse. I see allot of these for sale , but thought getting recommendations would be good before spending money on one that is worthless. She is getting tired of me translating everything for her whereever we go , wants to stand on her own feet, good for her! Thanks in advance.

Should I get her the work permit first and then the SS number or should I apply the SS number and check the box for no work?? Seems like the old saying , which came first? The chicken or the egg.

Thought of hiring attorney to help with the next steps after marriage , but for $1950.00, I have second thoughts and think I can do this myself with a little guidance. We get married today in South Carolina. What is the next step? Was told to go after the green card and work permit , then the SS card. My county in SC is telling me that my Fiancee and myself cannot be married here as she does not have a SS number yet? So? She is here on a K1 visa , of course has no SS number yet. Any suggestions? Nothing like living in a backwards-ass State. She of course has her passport with the K1 visa inside and the I-94 record.

you do have about a 95% chance that the main topic will be the exwife and marraige. I also am divorced and the main topic of me fiancees interview was in fact the previous marraige. As part of my "kitchen sink" approach I had already included an extra copy of my divorce decree. I have gotten a letter from my exwife which of course was notarized. It read as ,To whom it may concern: My name is ********* Address ************ Phone ************ SS # ********** My ex husband and I will not get back together. We have been seperated since January ** **** and finally divorced on March **,****. Signed Notarized. The VO did read this letter that my fiancee handed over as soon as the old marraige was mentioned. Also asked by the Vo: WHy did the marraige end? how long was the marraige? Where does the exwife live? Does your fiancee have any children? Where does the child live? LIving arrangements for the child? If the exwife is not a natural USA citizen which mine was then you will receive more questions. Follow the "kitchen sink " approach will find much information on in this site and you will fine. Your SO does need to know all about your old marraige and exspouse. I hope this helps.

Unless she plans to return to China from Hong Kong , there will be no Visa required being USA citizens do not require a visa to enter Hong Kong only to enter China. My Fiancee and myself went to Hong Kong October 2007 and she had to return to her hometown to get the visa and it took some time to receive. You have to try Disney , I could not believe how inexpensive it was and no lines for the rides when we went. It is however small compared to the parks in USA , but still extremely fun. DOnt bother with the haunted mansion though as it was a dissappointment compared to Florida , but your Chinese SO would be frightened as mine was.

you will need multi visas to go to Hong Kong when you reenter China. You can always get a visa in hong kong , MOst hotels have agent there to assist you. They can also send you to passport picture taker if require , but easier if you have passport picture with you. I have always used www.passportsandvisas.com for the past 5 years for my visa needs , they have always been reliable.They can get you a multi entry visa which will give you two entries into China which will eliminate the hassle of obtaining a visa in Hong Kong for your return. I carry a M class visa , but I work in China so it gives me as many entries as I wish within its valid time period.

It took 4 days for my fiancees visa to arrive her home in Foshan from the interview date of october 15th. She had a tracking number from EMS provided from guangzhou the day of her interview.We were bitting nails during the wait.

I have brought green tea about 10 times back from China. My fiancee plans to bring spice from her hometown , but it is freeze dried and vaccum packed as the tea was. I also brought back cherry flavored squid tentacles as a joke with no problem from thailand once. Fresh items are definelty a no! I would think the dried seafood would be okay , worse case , they confiscate it.
