Can petitioner attend interview with applicant?
Randy W replied to maisflocon's topic in Consulate Process: P-3 ~ Interview
I am pretty sure that you have the interview in the country of your legal residence instead of the country in which you have citizenship. Audelair was an example - Chinese citizen interviewed in Australia. http://candleforlove.com/forums/index.php?...st&p=155543 -
3-yr requirement excludes 2-yrs conditional status?
Randy W replied to waingro's topic in Citizenship Process
No - you can apply for citizenship 3 years after the "Legal Permanent Resident since" date on the card. -
What to take with me
Randy W replied to Christopher's topic in Communications, Planes, Shipping & Money
I dissagree Matt. It depends a lot on how long you have known each other and other things. I would hazzard a guess that the vast majority of us tasted the forbiden fruit on our first visit to meet our sweeties. A lot of it may have to do with her age group and whether or not she's been married before. It's the old, "If she'll have sex with you, she'll have sex with anyone" trip -
I got a one year, multiple entry last time - never tried for a two (or told anyone I was married to a Chinese national) The drawback is that I would have to leave in the morning to get there after nine. By the time I got back it would be pushing lunch time. So I've stuck with an agency for the most part, except when my wife got her passport renewed.

They are not very busy, but they're VERY rude. But efficient, except for the short hours. Each trip can eat up half the day because of the hours.

Dish network satellites range from 67.5 degrees, to 130 degrees. North America only. Satellites are geo-synchronous, meaning they are 22,000 miles up, and stay where they are above the equator, so you never have to re-aim your satellite dish. CNN, HBO, and anyone else who broadcasts in Asia (or their distributors) have satellites in that part of the world.

Bringing son and brother to the US?
Randy W replied to BillV 8-16-2004's topic in AOS & Immigration Challenges
Nine and eleven years for the son and brother respectively, according to the current visa bulletin -
Yes - clarification! But I found the NVC address, which maybe he mistook for 132 - National Visa Center Attn: WC 32 Rochester Ave. Portsmouth, NH 03801-2909

Who is "they"? Where are you getting advice (the addresses) from? I assume this is for an I-130 CR visa? From the I-130 "Where to File": Any U.S. resident petitioner submitting a completed I-130 by courier/express delivery, should use the following address: USCIS Lockbox Attn: SAI-130 131 South Dearborn ¨C 3rd Floor Chicago, IL 60603-5517

Jesse here fought the battle and won. It's your choice whether to follow his lead, or to turn in a new I-693. It seems like just proving it WAS done isn't enough, unless you get someone to TELL them it's enough. Or you can hope the missing forms will show up - but I believe that for now, they want a complete I-693.

a cultural thing or just rudeness?
Randy W replied to cguo7's topic in Culture & Language Discussion
I'll add to this that of all the Chinese people at work, they are no more or less likely than Americans to acknowledge you in the hallway. These are almost all native born Chinese. It's (usually) not a rudeness thing - some people just walk around with blinders on. Of course, when they throw a tantrum over it, there's more likely than not some kind of an agenda behind it. -
What to take with me
Randy W replied to Christopher's topic in Communications, Planes, Shipping & Money
I have it covered with one or two dozen paper towels (for emergencies) folded in a pile in my camera bag. Also take a little bottle of hand sanitizer. It's good stuff. -
Nope - no problem. Several people have done it.

We got a "please come" letter in a similar vein - the IO wanted to simply tell us that we needed to go get the police report from the City of Houston, since the City of Houston didn't like her (scarred at the age of 7) fingerprints. But in your case I would be apprehensive - they could deny you based simply on your previous communications, or they may very well approve the greencard. I don't think an attorney would serve any purpose. You are asked a few questions, you answer them. It's pretty well uneventful. If she is denied, they may initiate removal proceedings. A hearing would be scheduled no sooner than 30 days after you are notified. It's pretty much assumed that you WILL have an attorney for that. This is NOT necessarily a bad thing. The "why" and "is it normal?" questions won't help. Yes - it's pretty much of a form letter they send out. Just be prepared for things to go right. At this point, you have no control over the other. Scott, I wish you luck. I know I don't sound very approving of your situation (I'm not), but I'm only wishing for the best for you, and I hope you still consider me a friend.

Electronic proceesing of petitions
Randy W replied to peterd01's topic in General Visa Discussion & First Steps
With all the shipping of paperwork between petitioner and USCIS, USCIS and NVC, NVC and GUZ, and GUZ and applicant, yes, it's a good idea. It'll be interesting to see what GUZ can come up with as far as holding electronic data in customs, if they eliminate the paper transfer there. -
Can K3 and CR-1 be done at same time
Randy W replied to peterd01's topic in General Visa Discussion & First Steps
I received the AOS bill today and from looking at recent timelines it would seem that I will need to pay the $70 AOS and $400 for the IV processing fee before the CR1 really starts moving. So if the K3 is approved I guess I'd be out the $470 unless my wife hung around for the CR1 interview...? right? BTW The NVC letter had an additional letter / handout saying that we qualified for a "new optional pilot program at the NVC electronic processing of petitions" .... basically everything is scanned and emailed to and from NVC for the petitioner and the beneficiary. This should cut some time off the wait.. The $470 is a lot cheaper compared to what you would have to pay for AOS if you only did the K3. Yes she would have to hang around for the CR1 interview. Time well spent IMHO. If it was only 2 or 3 weeks I might talk her into waiting around for the CR1 interview, but any longer and that would be a big Hell No! Take the K3, run and don't look back! The money is not the big issue here, it's getting a Visa ASAP is. I'm not about to have my wife hang out and process again at GUZ to save a few bucks. Hell, the trip down there, medical, wait for Visa delivery wait, when you've got a Visa in hand....?? No way in Hell would I have her do that. Nope get her here soonest and we'll take care of the AOS here, Forget the $470. BTW However knowing that we could do a CR1 might make HK look at us differently, maybe more legit? I think if we didn't do the ground work for a CR1 before going to HK it would really look like we were trying to avoid GUZ. The money might serve a purpose still. You could always get the K-3, and then go back and get the CR-1. That would be an extra trip to China, but partially paid for by the AOS/CR-1 fee difference. And, yes, the CR-1 is a good back up in case the K-3 is denied at HK. -
I don't know if you were aware of this - Dish Network has been known to void existing smart cards and issue all new ones to cut off the hacks.

The I-693 you sent in WAS incomplete, since it only had the vaccination section filled out. Yes, that's usually the way it's done. BUT, like you point out, "they lost his medical stuff from Guangzhou" They screw up, you pay. That's usually the way it's done. You did nothing wrong.

Question on submitting I-129F after receiving NOA1
Randy W replied to Rick's topic in General Visa Discussion & First Steps
They are two different applications, and you should not assume that anything in one can be made part of the other. The K-3 can even be shipped to a different consulate/embassy, if the marriage had taken place in a different country. I will use birth cert., marriage cert, g-325a, pics, a/l tickets, e-mails, etc...right? And you are saying I should send the I-129 to TX while my I-130 is now in CA? Thanx, Randy....ZZ Yes (follow the directions) but wait on that until someone who has actually filed a K-3 confirms. -

Hint - you may wish to post with a different color BLACK - I can choose? !! (not sure of the colors you advise of) You have already chosen 2 different posting colors. Blue is the color for "need more evidence" Of course, you're welcome to post in any color you choose

You are exactly right about everything, and I would go with your doctor who wants $50. Thr RFE's for medical exams can happen if the USCIS has managed to lose your medical report.

China automarket is like the US market after the 2nd WW ended. It is 1947 for China now. $$$ I agree - in the Chinese market. But their viability in the world market remains to be seen. Just like the US market!

In the context of the rest of the article, it doesn't seem that way. In fact, the title isn't necessarily a fair representation of the article itself. In many ways, it sounds to me like Jackie was simply towing the line. Speaking to a Chinese audience, he basically said that he thinks the mainland way is better, not Taiwan or Hong Kong - giving the people what they wanted to hear, to an extent. On the other hand, he DID have the guts to speak up about the quality of Chinese goods, even given the possibility that it might rub some people the wrong way. I essentially agree... but he had the guts to say something historically and philosophically profound. We've gotten to a point in history where you cannot say anything without some group taking some offense... instead of seeing if there is something to learn from the comment. Which do you agree to ... that the chinese people need to be controlled, that the quality of chinese goods is poor or that he was towing the line? I really do not see anything of historic or philosophic nature inthe comments. I am now sitting at home waiting for my chinese tv to explode wishing I had brought a japanese one Interesting. What model Chinese TV do you have? Ask Jackie - I think his point was that that was hardly of a historical nature That's why I'm thinking there's prejudice involved here.
