  1. Have you thought about "TexasDave"? Would I have to eat grits? No - Texas does not qualify as 'Southern' in that regard.
  2. Cheetos are much better, although they can flutter around in the breeze and be harder to aim at.
  3. Have you thought about "TexasDave"?
  4. A little bit of canned editorial opinion there. Nonetheless, K-3 is there and IS an option. It's up to you to do your own due diligence and decide what's best for you, But like Dan says, you file the I-130 first
  5. http://guangzhou.usembassy-china.org.cn/citizen.html Randy, did they change the link in your previous post, from last year (#4) ? http://candleforlove.com/forums/index.php?...an+citizen+hour I really don't care, after three of them, I doubt there will be another for me; but they should clarify the website for others who follow, and list the two together with the definition of each. In the IV page you have posted, they have buried it where you have to really look. Yes - I guess the point is that there may be two different hours - one for IV, one for NIV - that you really have to be there to know what's going on, and that the fun and games go on from 1 to 4PM
  6. This is for non-immigrant visas - even though K-visas are considered non-immigrant visas, they are handled by the Immigrant Visa dept. http://guangzhou.usembassy-china.org.cn/citizen.html

  8. You know Mike, the more I think about this, I have never before heard of two [different] type ACH's, being discussed here at CFL, with respect to actual attendance. I just saw the post of that one member awhile back who made this observation and everyone sort'a kind'a bought in to it. Nor have I ever heard of someone going to the 'wrong' ACH and being turned away. My gut feeling is, this is the one and only one. I could see so much confusion otherwise, if there were two separate ACH's. Furthermore, if there were, GUZ would have a big notice attached to there link, to prevent the obvious confusion. Just my thought, after looking at all the posts in this thread and the other one. I do remember the time change from my first/second ACH to the last (third) one I attended. I remember I got there a little late and was at the end of the sign-in line, and didn't get called until almost 4:00 and didn't get out of there until after 4:00. My wife was waiting the entire time in the coffee shop below, and wondered if they had incarcerated me !! I think the link I posted in the other thread, and the same one IDave posted here, is the correct info; absent them having again recently changed the time, and forgot to update the website. Anyway, I am sure you will be able to figure it out after your re-con of the Consulate today. Rog No - there is an immigrant ACH and a non-immigrant (for student, work, etc visas). We're all handled by the IV dept, so we go to the IV ACH.
  9. this is the reason for my concern....... this is NOT a standard interview invitation! No it is not a I-797C. This letter is just a plain letter - not a form - not like I have ever seen. It just says "please come.......". Top says homeland security and CIS. FC HAH! We got one of those, too. It was from our IO, who called us in just to tell us that the City of Houston had rejected her fingerprints, and we would have to go downtown to get the police report ourselves. It then sat on her desk for another 6 months until we got the green card. I had sent in two inquiries - the first one they ignored, due to the improved customer service they said could result in our green card any day now. The second one they had no remaining excuses for, so we got the green card. So, this is just procedural - nothing to worry about. But in your case, yes, I would be a little apprehensive. Hope it's nothing - good luck.
  10. You're being too cryptic here, Scott. The Field Office Director would be the head of your local USCIS office that you would interview at. I'm guessing it's unlikely that anyone else would have reason to have met this person. What does the letter say? A normal interview invitation would come on the I-797C form
  11. Good luck - I hope it works out! Randy, Thanks, I hope it does too! Were making prep. in case it doesn't happen, and the course of action we will take (legal means). Do you have any updates in reference pending cases of the Aged-out issue? No, but if you should have to go to court, I think the only questions are, how many courts you'd have to go through and how long (hopefully, only one) Remember that as long as he has a pending court case, he's entitled to stay for it, but that they may revoke his EAD and AP, Well, the IO did take both Ap's, but they both still have the EAD's, I hope that's a positive? No - not yet. The green card is the concern here

  14. For the pen - yes, the standard XP installation will recognize Chinese handwriting if you install both the Japanese and Chinese IME's and a graphics tablet, such as Wacom. If she wants a larger area for input, there's the Twinbridge software - http://www.twinbridge.com/
  15. That's roughly like paying for a dinner you ordered at a restaurant that was served burned to a crisp. After all, they did cook what you ordered!
  16. You might try China Call-back http://www.1stphonecard.com/phonecardInfo.cfm?ProductID=1 for 3.8 cents/minute from China (whatever's left you can user in the US to call China@1.6 cents) or any other calling plan. This is our calling card, but we tried twice and couldn't get it to work to call back - You'll need someone who speaks Chinese and can understand the call-back stuff
  17. Congratulations! Yes - everyone will turn in their pasport so they can put the visa in it. It is then mailed back to them at a post office within the Guangdong province
  18. Yes - Canada accepts a US greencard for admission to their country. I'm sure the person was so quick because it's a common occurrence. No, we haven't tried, so yes, you may wish to hear from someone who has.
  19. Yes, you can reschedule, but you're at their mercy for that. Given your time frame, Amanda's suggestion is best.
  20. Well, yes - they want your tax returns, or transcripts. The W-2's are supporting evidence.
  21. people, each is unique and the circumstances cannot be grouped into "it's the old" too many varibles. Like life, we each try to see it thru our own window and say what should be for others. Sorry, I'll stand by what I said - mattman's comment was "an old" trip to lay on someone
