  1. Yeah, with the appointment letter there was another letter that said while not required they suggest you bring 2 passport size photos with you. And, he took his other photos right after getting off work. They are terrible. So we will DEFINATELY do this. Then, I hope they will use the new one on the naturalization certificate. LOL. He's almost ready. He's done really well here. He goes to school here, he has a job, and he even does a little side business for computer repair. He talks to his customer's on the phone and explains computer problems to them. So, I know his language abilities are not a problem. We have already started studying the 100 questions. He knows most of the answers. He only has a problem remembering some of the names (like our U.S. reps and some of the historical names, like Jefferson). So, we will keep studying and I think he will be fine. He took this summer off from school becuase we were expecting the interview to be this summer. He's got plenty of time. I feel very positive.
  2. We got our appointment letter in the mail today. Interview is set for Junee 22nd. That's exactly 3 years, to the day, from the day we entered the country.
  3. She's going to do great! I'll keep you guys in my thoughts tomorrow morning.
  4. Congratulations!!!!!!!!! On a side note, the picture on her naturalization certificate, is that by chance, of the two passport photos you have to send in with the applications? My husband had just gotten off work when he went to have his taken and it is an AWFUL pic. I told him it would probably be on his naturalization certificate and that I would be able to make fun of him for years to come. LOL.
  5. I would go ahead and call after 60 days. However, I just wanted to add in that our online status says our application is at the National Benefits Center too. I think that's normal.
  6. We are in the Dallas area's office. The other timelines I've looked at from Dallas recently have been pretty quick, but I guess either way. If they make us wait we wait. What choice do any of us really have? I think samsong is the best testiment of that. B) Sorry yours took so long.
  7. We just sent in our application on March 25 and today my husband received his biometrics appointment. The appointment is for April 24th. We are in the DFW area. I hope this process moves quickly (fingers crossed). We are sooo ready to be finished (just like everyone else on this site).
  8. Nope. We are in Texas and then we were transferred to (I could be wrong) I think the Vermont Service Center. It's been a while since I got that email and I can't find it in my inbox. But, I think we were transferred to Vermont. It went much smoother than I thought. I was afraid because we don't own property together (due to the fact that we are both in college so we live in an apartment) and we don't have kids yet (refer to same reason for not owning property). But, we never got an RFE or anything. So, we are very thankful and excited it went so quickly and smoothly.
  9. Randy, We live about four hours North of Houston now in Tyler. We are already used to Texas humidity. LOL Where we live now, in the winter time, it will go from 75 degrees down to 30 degrees overnight. And then the next day back into the 70's. We are used to unpredictable (but almost always humid) Texas weather.
  10. My husband's 10 year green card arrived in the mail Friday. I actually expected this process to take 13 months, so we finished about 2 months earlier than I thought. Next step, citizenship.
  11. We received an email today. We sent in our application to remove the conditions on my husband's green card last April. We received one email in June that stated that our case was now pending and nothing since. Today we received the following email: Application Type: CRI89 , PETITION TO REMOVE CONDITIONS OF PERMANENT RESIDENT STATUS RECEIVED Current Status: Card production ordered. On March 11, 2009, we ordered production of your new card. Please allow 30 days for your card to be mailed to you. If we need something from you we will contact you. If you move before you receive the card, call customer service. You can also receive automatic e-mail updates as we process your case. Just follow the link below to register. Woo hoo!!!! NO interview! Just approved!
  12. Congrats to everyone that's passed!!! I have one quick question....for those of you that listed out the questions and the interview....do you mind telling us if that was the old test or the new test. Thanks!
  13. Well, we are looking to start the citizenship process late March/early April. We haven't received our ten year green card yet (but looks like we are still within the timeline, so no worries). I think that I read that we can go ahead and apply for citizenship if my husband is ready before we have received the 10 yr. gc. Is this correct? Also, we are planning to move to Houston in July or August (before the semester starts). Would this affect the citizenship process? Thanks in advance!
  14. They are necessary. It is listed on the I-751 instruction page. They are listed on the second page of the instructions where it says "Evidence of Relationship." Point 5--"Affidavits sworn to or affirmed by at least two people who have known both of you since your conditional residence was granted and have personal knowledge of your marriage and relationship. (Such persons may be required to testify before an immigration officer as to the information contained in the affidavit.) The original affidavit must be submitted and also contain the following information regarding the person making the affidavit: his or her full name and address; date and place of birth; relationship to you or your spouse, if any; and full information and complete details explaining how the person acquired his or her knowledge. Affidavits must be supported by other types of evidence listed above."
  15. We have received 2 I-797's in the last two weeks. I guess that's why they charge so much. To print out and mail the same letter several times. I'm not too worried. Just waiting to see what we receive in the mail next.
  16. Just have him go ahead and mail it in. You can't do it online. I didn't know that in the beginning either. I just went ahead and mailed mine in after I found out that rule. I don't think it is a very big deal, but maybe some others can reassure you also.
  17. Hmmm....well, good! Now I know that we are being processed the normal way. I just don't get the way they do things sometimes. But, that's ok. I"m just the hampster running in their wheel.
  18. Thanks Lee! I think I need to clarify though. We only received one appointment. The second letter is the I-751 that extends the greencard and shows the receipt for the payment. We had our biometrics appointment on 05/03. 10 days later we received the second letter that extends the greencard. In this letter it says to expect another letter that will have an appointment for biometrics (as if this letter is meant to be the initial contact and biometrics has never happened). If they send us another one we will go. But, I don't understand why we have two different numbers. And the online status system doesn't really give any information for either case number. One number has no information and the other one only says that our case has been transferred to Vermont. I guess we will just wait and see what happens next. It's almost like Vermont quickly received our case and quickly scheduled biometrics and the Texas Service Center is so far behind that they just now printed and mailed our initial receipt from when I mailed the application. Maybe in a few weeks I will get the letter notifying us that they transferred the case to Vermont (we've never received that either). Could Texas be so far behind that even printing and mailing a letter is behind? I thought Vermont was supposed to be the slowest service center right now.
  19. Ok. I'm really scratching my head on this one. I mailed in our application packet and checked my online banking to get the case number off of the back of the check. Got the number, but every time I checked it said that number was not in the automated system. A couple weeks later we received a letter for the biometrics appointment. This letter had a different case number. When I typed that case number into the computer it said that case had been transferred to vermont and they would be contacting us. On May 3rd we went ahead and went to the biometrics appointemnt. Today I received NOA1, the letter which extends the greencard for one year. It says they will later send us a biometrics appointment, which we have already done. And, this letter has the old case number that was on the back of the check they cashed. The date of the letter is May 13th. I again tried to type this case number into the online status system and received the same no number in automated system message. Should I be concerned that the government has issued us two case numbers? Should I be concerned about the two letters coming out of order? What do you guys think? I'm not sure if we should do something or just let it go. Thanks for the help! P.S. Also the NOA1 has my husband's name under petitioner and nothing under beneficiary. Is this correct?
  20. We mailed in our app on 04-08. We received a letter for the biometrics about a week and a half ago. We went to have the biometrics done yesterday. This is the only letter we have ever received. We never got a letter extending the green card. His green card doesn't expire until 06-22 so I am not too worried yet, but if we never get the letter what do we need to do? Make an infopass appt??? And if we have to do that how do we make an infopass appt? Why does it have to be so complicated?
  21. I agree with the previous posters. We went to the ssa almost as soon as we got here. They said that the people at our poe hadn't had time to input our info so we had to wait two weeks. We went back in two weeks and applied for the card. It came in the mail about a week later. Just go down to the nearest office and they will take care of you. You will even know what the number is going to be after you leave the office.
  22. We also sent ours to TSC and were transferred to VSC. However, we sent ours this April and were transferred immediately. We never did get a notice of transfer. I looked at the back of my check online and was checking on that case number at the website's online case number thing. It only ever said it didn't exist. Then, we got a letter for the biometrics appointment with a different case number that still starts with SCR. I checked that case number and it only says that we were transferred and that they sent us a notice of transfer. Hmmm....never saw it. We also have not got a letter extending his green card yet. But, I see it took Trigg 8 months to get a biometrics appointment. We will have our biometrics done in less than a month from the day we mailed in the application. Hmmm....you never can figure out what these guys are doing, can you?
  23. That's just awful!!! So much for the American dream. When she came here she must have been so excited and then to meet with a situation like that. I wonder why she felt like she shouldn't tell her husband. I'm sure everyone here would agree that if one of our's was in the same situation we would want to be told. Surely he would have been able to help her through reporting it. That's very sad. I just don't know what else to say.
