  1. We are getting ready to opt in for electronic processing. When I fill out the Choice of Agent form I can have everything mailed to us, right? My in-laws are old and from a different time period. We plan to handle most everything we can for them. They already have all of their documents scanned in because we have been preparing them. Is there any reason to list their address instead of ours? Also, we send the email to opt-in with the DS-3032. Then, they send us an email with further instructions. Is this correct? I'm still working on figuring out the steps for this new process. Sorry for so many questions. As always, thanks everyone!!!
  2. That's awsome! Congrats!
  3. My husband and I are trying to make plans for his parents coming here. We have several things to figure out, and it would help if we knew how long it will take from the receipt of the NOA2 to interview day? I know there is no set in stone time line. I'm just looking for the experience other's have recently had. We do plan to opt in for electronic processing. As always, thanks in advance for any help!
  4. We filed for my husband's parents on Oct 19. We got an email today too that NOA2 was being mailed. I wrote it off as the holidays being the reason for the slow down.
  5. We are going to the Houston consulate Wednesday to get visa's for our December trip to China. I know we need the visa applications, passports, photos, money, ect. I also remember reading that my husband will have to bring in his old Chinese passport. Will he need to bring anything else special? Will they need his certificate of naturalization? Thanks for the help!!!!
  6. I wanted to add something I thought was interesting. My husband was recently sworn in and they mailed him a new ss card too. He did not change his name and as pp said, the number is the same. I'm not sure why they had to mail a new one, but they did.
  7. Once again, guys, thanks for all the help! I bet these are not my last set of questions. I appreciate you guys.
  8. So, I've been part of CFL a while now and was pretty clear on how everything worked. My husband is now a citizen and we have decided to bring his parents here. I was thinking....I know how all of this works. It should be easy, but I was checking this forum to remind myself how it all worked and I see a lot has changed. I have a couple of questions.... We DCF when we applied for my husband to come. So, I'm not familiar with how the process works from here. We have already sent in the I-130 and paid the fee for both of his parents. Yesterday we received NOA-1. From what I remember in a couple months we should receive NOA-2, stating the approval or denial of DHL? Then, the applications go to the NVC? What happens at the NVC? From what I am reading it seems that almost everything happens here. What fees will we have to pay to NVC? Do we pay the interview fee to NVC? Does P-3 come before the case is sent to GUZ or afterwards? I see we can now submit documents electronically, but the process appears to still have some bugs in it? After the case is sent to GUZ how much does the physical cost? My in law's don't speak English. Will they allow my husband to go in with them to translate? He said he remembers another guy that was there translating for his parents when he went to his interview. Can anyone confirm this? Ok. I know that's a whole list of questions and I'm sorry. This process is just a lot different than when we DCF and I've already forgotten most of that. Thank you guys in advance for any help you can offer. I owe so much to CFL and I appreciate everyone in this community!
  9. No problem. It will be simple. I'm sending good wishes your way for a speedy approval.
  10. Yeap. He's finally been sworn in and we are finished. Thanks everyone for the answers to endless questions throughout this process. You guys have been a God-send. If it wasn't for this site I would have gone crazier than I did during the process. Thanks to everyone over the years.
  11. Well, just to update everyone. Last week we received the appointment letter. He's being sworn in on Sept. 23rd. However, it's not in Dallas where he interviewed. It's in Tyler. The city we just moved from. Either way....we are happy to soon be finished.
  12. Ok. So, we have been through a crazy time. We called the NCSC and they said we had to wait until the 90 day mark to make an inquiry. On the infopass page it says to choose if you need service on a case that has already been filed. I chose that and then it says: Case Services follow-up appointment - If it has been over 45 days since you contacted NCSC and have not received a response to your inquiry. You must bring the Service Request ID Number related to your inquiry to the appointment. This means that we would have to wait until the 90 days to file the inquiry with the NCSC and then another 45 (if we didn't hear anything) before the infopass appointment. Am I choosing the correct options on this? To make matters worse, I just started a new career and we had to move out of our field office area. We were in the Dallas area and are now in the Houston area. How bad do you guys think this is going to be?
  13. lol....That's ok, credzba. This process makes us all a little loopy. And, their have been times I was thinking about swearing loudly in my apartment.
  14. Thanks for the replies! We'll keep you guys updated.
  15. And, not the ghostbusters. lol The officer told my husband to expect his letter within four weeks. This coming up Monday will be 5 weeks since his interview for citizenship. We had to move, but he told the officer at the interview that we were moving and gave her the new address. She said she would change it in the computer. Does anyone have a number that we could call and check on his status? I found a number on the USCIS website, but it said that they do not provide case specific information. Any advice on what we should do?
  16. Congrats to the new citizen!!!!
  17. Whew! Well, now you two can look back and know that you conquered it all. Congrats again! I'm happy the two of you made it all the way through.
  18. Wow! You guys had to wait a long time for the oath letter. We are in the DFW service area too. The officer told my husband to expect a letter within four weeks. We have to move in a month or two. I hope it gets here before then. Congratulations, though! We are very happy for you both!
  19. Thanks everyone! My husband says thanks too! We really appreciate everything.
  20. First of all, I want to say thank you to everyone on this website. Someone referred me to this website when we first started considering immigrating. I truly believe it is to the credit of this website that we have been so successful. Thank you everyone for advice and help over the years. Well, about the interview....our appointment was at 10:40am and they called him at about 11:30am. So, our wait wasn't too long. I think he was out within 15-20 minutes. The officer told him that she didn't need any additional documents from him becuase we had mailed plenty of evidence in with the application. They talked for a little bit. She asked some of the questions from the N-400, but not all of them. He was asked to read "Who elects Congress?" Then, he was asked to write "The people elect Congress." He was asked 6 questions (all of which were on the flashcards that can be found on the USCIS website). 1. Name one state that borders Mexico. 2. What are the two major political parties in the United States? 3. What is the political party of the President now? 4. Who is the Commander in Chief of the military? 5. Who wrote the Declaration of Independence? 6. There were 13 original states. Name three. He said it was very easy and she spoke slowly and clearly. For the Declaration of Independence he answered with only Jefferson and it was counted correct. So, anyone else getting ready to go through this.....if your wife/husband is good at studying by themselves this is my advice. I saw books online to buy to study for this and classes people could go to. We didn't do any of that. I printed out the flashcards from the USCIS website and cut them apart for my husband. He's been going through them about once a week for the last couple months. Just send in the same kind of evidence that you do for the I-751 and what they ask for in the guide to citizenship. I send out good wishes to anyone else about to go through the process and don't worry about it. The process is very easy. Thank you everyone!
  21. I don't know the timeline of the Portland office. We are in the Dallas area and ours went very quickly. Check out our timeline. We mailed in the N-400 at the end of March and had the citizenship interview today. Only three months between mailing in day and interview.
  22. That's a very nice pic. Congrats again.
  23. Thanks Carl! I'll be sure and remind him of that. And, I know American born citizens that were raised here that confuse the rights under the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence. Some of our friends heard us studying and wanted to see if they could answer all the questions. They didn't do so well. LOL. So, if that's all Ying confused then I think she's did AWSOME!
