  1. The link for the Horizon Travel service here was great! There is another link on CFL to travelchinaguide I had a problem with. Both sites list a $34 a day rate for a standard room at the Victory annex. The travel....site seems to be pulling a bait and switch operation. I sent them my info for the $34.00 rate BUT they sent an email that ONLY a $60.00 BUSINESS ROOM was available. I replied, "NO, THANKS, too expensive for us." Upon going to Horizon that DID have the $34.00 rooms, they found that the other agency had ALREADY BOOKED us at the Victory for $60 X 5 days. Victory Hotel would NOT rebook with Horizon Travel until travelchinaguide cancelled the reservations. Took SEVERAL emails and three days to iron it out! acw
  2. LAX routinely posts officers before the immigration lines (to direct people to the proper line) and has seemed very helpful in the past. I have meet a few family based visa folks here and one of them beat me thru immigration- 15 minutes. THEN we stood around for 30-45 minutes chatting waiting on the darn luggage. acw
  3. Thanks Wayne, I don't have a letter from NVC yet despite case completion in March. I have also shot an email off to Guz since and will post the answer (if I get a direct answer that is). acw
  4. Are we sure about the fiancial end? Medical exam requirements (From GIV-8 Rev 8/04): "At the time of the medical exam, please bring all douments listed on form OF-171". OF-171 copy I have lists the I-864. acw
  5. No, TT the interview will be at Guangzhou. Our I-864 was APPROVED already at NVC. The letter of the law on the OF-171 requires the I-864 "....must be original, signed and notatirized. This has already been done at NVC. What recent experiences have CR-1 folks that have had their I-864 APPROVED AT NVC had at GUZ with the requirement "ORIGINAL" ??? Maybe I will just email GUZ with this question. Thanks again! acw
  6. Hi there CR-1 folks, What I-864 did you take to the interview for a CR-1 done at NVC? I believe I have heard some say they got a copy of the approved I-864 back from NVC. Is this correct? I noted that the P-4 documents (OF-171) require that I-864 "must be original, signed and notarized". Seems to be a conflict in the instructions and the NVC process. Thanks acw
  7. Ditto except: Fees for a "private" document are $30 for the first page and $20 for subsequent pages. Total of $50 for notarization of a two page document (and TWO REQUIRED notary signatures) in my case. Someone elses in line before me (real estate doc.) there was $210. acw
  8. Matt appears to be a CR-1. I have NOT done this but would suggest that she will be able to enter the US after a stay in Malaysia as long as she enters the US in the prescribed period of time. Likewise many others (including my wife) have travels to other countries in their passports. Short of going to North Korea I do not a problem. acw
  9. I got an email from GUZ that gave me a response similar to the below when I inquired as to "name check being complete and date logged in" question. Fee for service visa center in China phone number: 4008-872-333 International: 8621-3881-4611 (86 being China and 21 being the Shanghai prefix). Also see the US consulate, GUZ website, immigrant visas and then "contact us". The email from GUZ also lists www.usavisainformation.com.cn/eng/index.aspx.) acw
  10. Ross, The initial police report we got was a single sheet of paper about half page size. We were told this had to be taken to the Hukou and they prepared/ notrized the actual police check document (and the Hukou KEPT the single half page sheet from the PSB). acw
  11. I realize the above is addressing a K-1, I-134 but IF processing an I-864 at NVC GET the IRS letter1722 for efiling. Also TWO of my efile returns (one done by a private CPA and another done by a national known tax service) have a LARGE dot matrix "COPY ONLY" over the signature area on the back of the 1040 form.
  12. NVC KEEPS scaring folks with this VAGUE message. When they can't readily find the DS-230 that is what the IVR message will say. You MAY even receive a SECOND DS-230 package (my DS-230 was received by NVC 3 weeks before the I-864 review). If the message says that NVC is missing FINANCIAL DATA that is when you do have an I-864 problem. The two messages otherwise are very similar. Wish they would: 1) LOOK for the DS-230 and 2) CHANGE the wording of these messages. acw
  13. David, it is not for the K-3 (I-129F) it is for the CR/IR-1 (Form I-130). K-3 passes thru NVC similar to the K-1 process. acw
  14. I also can not read the link, however, you may find? this info on the US Consulate site for Beijing (this info is on the local Shanghai Consulate site). It is my understanding that only a few branches are either capable and/or authorized to accept fees for the medical done for a visa.
  15. Congratulations to both couples and thanks for the interview feedback! Mark: My mother taught me to always clean from TOP to the BOTTOM. Dad taught me have to save all the stuff mom wanted thrown out in the basement. acw
  16. Yes, a lot of the problem is on the front side (USCIS- MSC for the K-3/The 3-4 months trip through NVC for the CR-1). acw
  17. I heard a rumour that the Chinese recently offered us two sites- one in Beijing and the expansion site in Guangzhou. The US Gov. supposedly had the funds allocated for the Guangzhou site only. acw
  18. It also appears that the K-3 has recently garnered some steam according to timelines reported on visajourney. Actual reported approvals went from mid Sept. to the first of Nov. in a few weeks. Too late for us. acw
  19. Maybe time for a "Fair Trade Resident Visa" program between the US and China? We gave TWO of your citizens a GC, now time for you to reciprocate with one for a US citizen. acw
  20. I've always used their (GZ Consulate- contact us) website form and "other" in our emails. I have only had one response back in Jan. (canned NON-answer) and no, never got acknowledgement of an email being sent. I have sent a written letter to them about case status and the email situation. acw EDIT: I have copies of the instant notification when the email is sent that they will respond it 5-7 working days but not a seperate email from them and have repeatedly check the required info/email address as correct. acw
  21. All BS aside- I elected to go I-130/K-3 (for OUR PERSONAL reasons) but FIRMLY believe that these catergories should AT LEAST be processed in a similar timeline as a K-1. Our K-3 sat at MSC for SEVEN months plus and there is no reason that married people should be penalized. Fraud can and is commited in ALL categories of visas. Likewise GZ citing increased "National Security" for our "Family Based Visas" and look speed of the business and student visa processes. They can and DID pose MORE of a threat than a 100 pound Chinese woman. acw
  22. My last email of April 28th is still not answered (nor the prior one in Feb). acw
  23. K-3 visa at Missouri= 7 months at present.
