  1. In my case everything has been returned to the Gov. (despite filing repeated address changes at CSC and NVC). "Never" SHOULD apply when marked "Return Service Requested"- especially official Gov. mailings. Postal codes are available on line. acw
  2. The actual CR-1 visa, Ross, is a paper attachment W/ name, DOB, visa catergory, PP #, GUZ case#, etc. firmly glued to and covering almost the entire page of the passport. It will have her picture on it. There is also an ink stamp that GUZ put on the last page of my wife's PP W/ wording ""Immigrant Visa Received" date and then "U.S. Consulate GUANGZHOU" but it is not the actual visa. Hope you guys get things back on track soon. Saw Gloria there in Guz on Friday.
  3. At the interview in the morning wife was asked for a copy of the 2004 taxes ONLY. New I-864 was NOT taken. This was a CR-1 W/ NVC approved I-864 using 2001-2003 tax years. acw
  4. yes.. I have read this in our searches and just don't have the specific comments.. but you sound right on... You'll have to trust me on this David, I have had many notarizations done here (two I-864's to boot) and I have been charged for two of them. $100 for 4 signatures!!! acw
  5. For Immigration (and I believe federal taxes) it is free. The fee otherwise is STEEP- $30.00 for first page and $20 for EACH additional page. acw
  6. Tony: The Consulates will notarize your I-864 (for free). It IS one of the main functions of the Cons. to notarize documents for USC's abroad. BEFORE you go check the specific consulate you will use for their hours of operation of the US CITIZEN SERVICES section (only open a few hours in Shanghai each day). Tony, I am a little confused by HER parents who are in CHINA? doing the I-864. David: I-864 was previously approved by NVC, the OF-171 has conflicting information. It NEEDS to be re-written- specifies numerous documents to be taken to the medical that they will NOT include in the sealed package and a LOT of other ambiguities. acw
  7. I have emailed GUZ about the I-864 approved AT NVC. It said that "If you have submitt original I-864 to National Visa Center Ms. Xxxx does not needs prepare a new one. But she should bring your returns of year 2004 if have submitted year of 2003 and 2002 to the NVC". As the above is a direct quote with broken English- and with me having a better to have and NOT need it attitude (for GUZ purposes) I got a new one notarized at the Shanghai Consulate anyways. acw
  8. Hate to burst the bubble but see the GUZ website about expediating for pregancy. acw
  9. My email to GUZ about this was deferred to the pay for use line. Still don't know the date. acw Give the DOS a call, I seem to get a better quaility response. Hard (and expensive) to do from China. The only time I got through to DOS I was simply told "awaiting scheduling"- could not give me a date. acw
  10. My email to GUZ about this was deferred to the pay for use line. Still don't know the date. acw
  11. Typically they are busy with student visas then too. acw
  12. My request for "WHEN" was this done- answer: call the pay for use line .acw
  13. Sailorboy, Maybe take a peek at "Interview P-3/P-4 projection" thread below using the handle "timeline". acw
  14. Yeah and school kids even attend school on Saturday and SUNDAY to compensate for the holidays. Takes some adjustment to the American mind set, likewise, the Post Office is open 7 days a week until 8PM down the street. acw
  15. Ross, In my opinion you will have to submit your tax info for the I-864 on Monday afternoon (see GUZ website for overcome days and hours). They now have up to 2 days to say yes or no to the overcome documents. OPINION AGAIN, Hopefully it is as simple as just a statement out of you declaring the tax code that exempts you from filing and GUZ nods yes on MONDAY. You are in uncharted waters from what I know for pickup since the China Post delivery method started recently and I have not heard of any people that have had to submit overcome documents and then get the visa through this system but I ASSume it is the same procedure for when Gloria's visa does get issued. The new pick-up process is posted here in this forum- title something like "new visa pick-up procedures". Can't seem to do a link with Chinese buttons anymore. I would say worse case with the overcome timing, you submit Monday, they wait until Wens. to answer it. Then wait a few days additional to receive her passport/visa in the China Post. Hopefully things happen faster but..... Again BEST of LUCK!!! acw
  16. Ross, I think you mean they kept her Passport, correct? Don't think GUZ actually issued her visa W/O the I-864 info from you. acw
  17. CONGRATS On the interview and Thanks for posting the questions. I hate to steal your thunder but weather does seem to be a problem getting in/out of Guz. Just read on the Guangdong news on line- 20,000 people stranded or turned back on the Beijing to Hong Kong rail and "thousands" stranded at the GUZ airport. Forecast: MAYBE it will let up this weekend. acw
  18. RE: NVC APPROVED I-864's I have an NVC approved I-864 but using 2003 taxes for the last available year. I emailed GUZ about an NVC APROVED I-864 and in essence (w/broken up English) they said that the wife does not need to prepare a new I-864 BUT should bring 2004 taxes with her (I did get a new I-864 notarized at the local Consulate however). In my opinion, though, for your circumstances you should do another I-864 because of the change of co-sponsor vs. your fianicial improvement. I would take a copy of the NVC approved and the new one to interview. Re, "original" tax records: Multiple choice? 1. Take copies only- may not be asked for originals. 2. Make out an "FC-029" type statement (exact copies of the originals that were submitted to DOS/NVC) and get it notarized. 3. Call IRS at 1-800-829-1040 and request LTR-8054 transcripts. Only takes about 4-5 days from my experience. acw
  19. Ross, I certainly enjoyed your company but wish this situation were NOT so. Prefer a "chance" meeting or at a CFL "get together" in the US. Are you planning on staying at Guz until then? acw
  20. Ross and G., So sorry to hear about this. Wish there was something we could do to help you out. Hopefully you can provide the information they want in a timely manner. Know your plans were on a tight schedule. As today is Wen. you will have to wait until Monday to submit the paperwork, correct? BEST of LUCK and godspeed from the both of us. acw
  21. Zingaro, I wanted to say this myself (and on your prior post too). Bit my tongue until it bled and needed stiches. Don is a little more diplomatic than I. I am NOT a fan of Boxer either. I've seen many people that have posted similar results at VJ about both CA Senators. I don't know if it's them (view's on immigration), laison's too busy, their being Democrats in a Republican admin. or not being on the right commitee. I would attempt to contact my CA Congressperson and hope for better results. Like Don, years ago, I had one CA Senator send me a letter 3 months AFTER my step-daughter HAD ARRIVED! The other never responded. I. in the mean time, wrote to Sen. Edward Kennedy's office and it took them just 8 days to get the visa. acw
  22. I'd also question how much padding of resources has been relegated to processing student visas again this year. (If memory serves me right) Things got REALLY slow for K visas during this period a year back (not many CR's were being approved so quickly last year). Maybe, Nooneufo or Mark will spit out some stats. acw
  23. Saw a taxi driver suddenly stop in the middle of a major Shanghai street with lanes whittled down for Metro construction. He adjusted his driver's side exterior rear view mirror, pinched a zit for about 2 minutes- buses, cars, bikes etc backed up, horns BLARING, readjusted the mirror and finally drove off. Wish I had a video of this one; Man about 60-70 years old riding his bike in Shanghai traffic juggling three 3" diameter steel balls- "look Ma no hands". acw
