  1. Do they take personal checks or do you need to send a money order for the $15??
  2. Has anyone successfully extended the visa for their in-laws? We would very much like mom to stay up to 1 year in order to spend Christmas 2007 with the whole family in the states. Has anyone has any luck with the extension. Also does it affect future visa applications (like in 2-3 years) if she wants to come over again? Also I see something about renewing visas on the Beijing Embassy website ... what is this about? Renewing visa at CITIC branch It does say you can renew a B2 ... so I wonder does this apply for our cases?
  3. Well looks like we got lucky and my mother-in-law is approved to come to the USA to see the birth of her grandson. Does anyone know how long she can stay after she comes .... I know there is the possibility of 6 month extension but how about longer?
  4. hi I was wondering did your mother-in-law request a 1 year visa or did the consulate just issue her a 1 year?
  5. Just wanted to know how one would request a visa for the 1 year period? We are planning on trying to get my mother-in-law to the US when we have our baby but are not sure how to get the 1 year visa. Any insights ... my mother-in-law owns 2 homes, has an older son, and a job as a doctor in a hospital so there should be enough reason to think she will return to China ... well reason enough for us maybe not for the CO.
  6. Well we are done until 2008 ... it was rather fast ... It took only 13 days from the day of the interview until receiving the card in the mail.
  7. Well we had our AOS interview today. Took about 20 minutes and then the IO said congrats and stamped her passport with the temp green card. Now all we are waiting for is the actual thing.
  8. I am trying to find out what the normal (yes I know there is no such thing) reasonable amount of time from NOA to the time we can signup online to receive email updates. I mailed our AOS January 23 - received 25th and then got NOA for the 31. Everytime I go online to check, it says not valid number ... WHAT THE HECK >>> any other method to check?
  9. I see some people mention shots before leaving China since it will be needed for AOS. What are all the shots required ... I see tetanus, mmr, and mention of chickenpox. Are there any other shots required? Does the yellow book come in English or does it need to be officially translated? thanks for the answers
  10. It lasted a minute and a glance at several pics and then the visa officer said congratulations. She said the VO was not even looking at the pics as she was going through them
  11. aqua, Where did you buy your tickets? $632 is cheap. I paid $780.00 for mine 153902[/snapback] I am flying china eastern ... unfortunately the price I got is a special I think the normal price is a little more.
  12. My trip will be in November but I scored me some cheap tickets ... 632 for nonstop tickets including all taxes and everything.
  13. Did your SO take her medical in Shanghai. Mine did and she was told she did not need an appt. She will be picking up her results in several days so I hope she has everything she needs. I have gone over the list several times but I guess we will review her packet again before she returns to pick up her results.
  14. I see that you suggest in Folder#1 to have a copy of the NOA2 ... is that required?
  15. Anyone traveling to Shanghai in November have a plane ticket price better than $606 including taxes and everything from Nov 11 - Dec 1??? Thanks for the help. Los Angeles to Pudong, Shanghai ...
  16. Well I emailed GUZ yesterday and today I received the standard response - the beneficiary is waiting to be scheduled for an interview ... no idea how long due to the amount of cases waiting to be scheduled. yada yada yada. Oh well still in the queue at least
  17. according to DOS /// namecheck was completed on June 9 ... GUZ time so June 8 PST.
  18. Not too sure about your case but we are along almost similar timelines. I contacted DOS and they stated the name check was completed - not too sure when but I would guess aroung the end of May and that we are waiting to be scheduled for an interview. So here's to crossed fingers and hoping that the 160 day timeline is close to accurate placing the interviews around August.
  19. Well it looks like my name checks and pre interview clearance are completed according to an email I got from GUZ. It says we are in the queue for interviews to be scheduled. YEAAHHHHH ... ok so when is the interview ... Come one ... waiting and still waiting. Oh wait .... no pun intended.
  20. As far as I know all you have to do is +86 + telephone number and the message gets sent to almost anywhere in the world. Cingular does not care ... I text friends in China, UK, and Canada with no problem all the time.
  21. You can use www.ipipi.com They are pretty cheap to use and you can use your cell phone, web, email from outlook, and and desktop. Try them out ... it works well for my fiancee but I also use text from Cingular as I have free text from them.
  22. I just called DOS and they told me that they entered my P3 on 4/16.
  23. Jason+Joanna - I think that are P3 must be entered before 4/19 as I received an email from GUZ Thanks for your email. We have received the requested forms. We are conducting pre-interview clearances for your case. Once they have been completed, we will send you an appointment letter with instructions nearer to your appointment date. Due to heavy workload volume, it is hard to predict when your interview will be scheduled. As soon as we have dates available, you will hear from us. Since I assume they must have entered the P3 into the computer before they would send me an email stating that they are conducting pre-interview clearance. So hopefully we will get our P4 around the time predicted as I will be with my girl in Shanghai at that time.
