Einstein once said, 'The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.' It is the poor who habitually elect Democrats---yet they are still ................... POOR "You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich. You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong. You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift. You cannot lift the wage earner up by pulling the wage payer down. You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred. You cannot build character and courage by taking away people's initiative and independence. You cannot help people permanently by doing for them, what they could and should do for themselves." 8. Best wishes, an ending, and a new beginning
  9. Well, once the letter, package, arrives in China it needs to be read in Chinese. Think about it, I have sent many packages to China and all have reached my wife. Have her send you in an email her address written in Chinese, then all you need to do is print it and affix it to the letter, package. My very first letter I sent did not make it because I did not send it registered mail. Since then ALL my letters and packages have been sent via registered mail, and ALL of them she has received. Registered mail is the most secure way, you do not need a return receipt.
  10. Thanks for the advice! I do in fact have a co-sponsor (my brother). One other thing: I'm in Atlanta now, so could I not simply send the returns and W-7 to the ATL service center? NO! Read the directions for form W-7. http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/fw7.pdf
  11. My phone is a Samsung Ace (on Sprint network), when I arrive in Beijing I can switch to GSM mode and that's it. I believe the calls are about $2.29 per minute, but my employer provides the phone so I just keep the calls to a minimum.
  12. Sprint, worked in Bejing, Shangai, Harbin and even from Mutianyu Great Wall.
  13. I have sent many packages via registered mail, EVERYONE arrived. It is not the quickest but the most secure.
  14. Dunedin is a nice little place, just a couple minutes north of me. It was voted by Money magazine as a "Top Place to Retire" and nearby Caladesi Island continues to win as America's #1 beach (2008)
  15. My wife has this heating plate that she uses to make hot pot, I haven't seen something similar here, but then I haven't looked too hard. Not sure about running 220 on 110.
  16. >>Richard did you do this in Beijing or Guangzhou? Beijing

  21. Hope this is the worst of your problems
  22. I handled the state income tax return by giving the same info that I gave with the federal return. I also sent them a copy of the W7 application that was sent with the federal return along with the notarized copy of her passport as well as a cover letter explaining everything. Everything went smooth. How did you get the notarized copy of her passport? I am living in China right now and the US Embassy will not just nortarize a copy of her passport even with me having the original. They say I have to get a Chinese nortary from our city. Then go to the province Foreign Affairs office and have the notary notarized and then bring both documents to ACS and they will nortarize the nortarized documents. Did you just get a notary public in USA to stamp a copy of your wife's passport? My wife & I did this at the embassy in Beijing last November,
  23. Ha ha ha, that's funny and welcome to the US looking forward to hearing of your experience.
