  1. "According to reports, there may be a back door built into Skype, which allows connections to be bugged. The company has declined to expressly deny the allegations. At a meeting with representatives of ISPs and the Austrian regulator on lawful interception of IP based services held on 25th June, high-ranking officials at the Austrian interior ministry revealed that it is not a problem for them to listen in on Skype conversations." for more...http://www.heise.de/english/newsticker/news/113353 Richard
  2. I think you need to spend a good amount of time in China before you understand this one..... Queues just aren't something Chinese people are good at. Hate to say it, but in my experience women are worse than men too.......EVERY time I go to the corner store I have a little old lady cut me in line..... Still love China, but it is something I teach in my classes..... Lines are good. Joshua In Beijing we went on the Hutong tour, the last stop was at a rather large home, and tour guides where leading groups of people around. When the guide would go from one stop to another, everyone raced to get to the front of the group, the guide knew this and seemed to enjoy walking faster. I had never seen this before, it was somewhat funny to see the competition. Richard
  3. Absolutely beautiful, one of my life's goals came about this past May, to see and walk on the Great Wall. Even better, I was with my girlfriend who is a native Chinese and she later became my wonderful wife. As to the GW, I would like to see it in the winter with snow. Richard
  4. Well since I live near the east coast (west coast of FL) the only real option for me is the Continental route from Tampa to Newark then non-stop to Beijing. I have searched many different sites and this is the only decent route. Others that take me through other cities, the flight time just balloons. But the Boeing 777 is a nice plane and I am anxious to do it again to see the lao po, son, and family. Be there soon honey Richard
  5. Hello Tom On the instruction sheet for I-130 they tell you to add a sheet if you need more room for a question, just be sure to format the sheet as they specify. This is what we did for her address. You can find the instructions for download here. http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/men...00045f3d6a1RCRD Richard
  6. Hello Darnell I just went through that experience, fortunately Amanda and I changed to MSN for our chat and webcam sessions early on in our relationship. I found the MSN much easier to print. When we chat, we each have a set color for our text, it makes it easier to follow. Report back about the utility you've downloaded. Richard BTW thanks for your last PM, good info.
  7. NOTE the I-130 gets filed and fee for step son sooner or later. If going for the superior CR-1/CR-2 True IMMIGRANT visas, then 2 I-130's need to be filed One for spouse and one for step son. If going for K-3/K-4 then can just file I-130 for spouse, and later file I-130 for step son when adjusting status. OR both can be filed up front like for CR-1/CR-2 visas. (I recommend filing both up-front, this gives you the option to decide on K-Visas or NOT) CR-1/CR-2 are superior in the fact that they get green-cards upon entry. NO adjustment of status required. Yes we are filing both I-130's for the CR route, thanks for the heads up! Richard
  8. Hi Tom Your logic is good, I had to request from the county courthouse a true copy for the package I'm about to send in. I read somewhere "if it's not in the index, search the entire catalog carefully" Richard
  9. I agree with this. I am in the opposite situation. As for the money .. You signed the I-864 or whichever form. You agreed to support these people in America. She did not sign a form saying she would support you. She married you and agreed to love you and take care of you. If your in dire straits, and can't make it, then you should ask for help from her, but it is a request. She has kept her part of the agreement, she loves you and takes care of you, she is expecting you to keep your part of the agreement. Support can mean something other than $, but since she is working this matter must be discussed in a calm and non confrontational way. As husband and wife they should agree on a mutual result. I think a "true" love does not have boundary lines, respect for the other in all areas is required, but alas we are human and subject to our own shortcomings. IMHO Richard
  10. From http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/ty...types_2991.html Reading their procedure; Assigns a case number to the petition. Send Form DS-3032, Choice of Address and Agent, to the applicant and the Affidavit of Support processing fee bill to the petitioner. After the applicant selects an agent, the NVC will send the immigrant visa processing fee bill to the agent. Note: The agent does not need to be an attorney. Note: It is important to follow instructions from the NVC carefully. Send the NVC documentation (or paying fees) when they were not requested by the NVC will result in a delay in processing. From all the reading I have done here on CFL this seems contrary in terms of sending (or front loading) the I-130. Or have I missed something. By reading this site, if I wasn't a member of CFL I would simply send an I-130 Richard
  11. Not sure what you mean here, but I have noted the fine leather appointments and sleek design of the interior http://i350.photobucket.com/albums/q408/ltbadd/1216018671966_000.jpg Richard
  12. Congradulations to you and your family, I can't wait to be in those shoes. Richard
  13. Richard ... I think you're selling America short. Yes we're in a political season right now with all the distortions that brings, but I have great confidence, over the longer term, in the American people. As others have observed there is an element to this book based on the current China bashing fad that our beloved politicians have foisted upon us. Yes the author, in the video, raises some real problems but I don't consider any of them to be strategic. As a wise man once said, and I believe it was in this thread, "China requires our understanding and engagement". Indeed we must continue the noble and insightful initiative begun by Richard Nixon so many years ago. The intent of my post was not that I believe all this author has to say, I firmly believe that there are two sides to every story, and sometimes the truth is still not known. I thought it might make for a good discussion on this forum, and I am interested in others opinion on this topic. Richard
  14. Congradulations Erica, wish you both the best Richard
  15. I have come across this listing on amazon.com, like most other topics it is somewhat subjective, but America has not been doing so well recently, (or am I being too easy on US here?) anyway I submit this for your consideration and thoughts. Watch the video. http://www.amazon.com/dp/0132359820?tag=pe...CFRItxwodxWWFSA Richard

  18. Thanks everyone for good responses, we are learning and working our way towards getting all this done and all responses have been helpful. Richard
  19. Ok according to Visajourney.com http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...mp;page=k3guide on the checklist (Assembling the I-130 Package: Checklist ) item #6 asked for Evidence of a bonafide marriage. At this time of the 6 items listed, we can only supply #5 (Affidavits sworn to or affirmed by third parties...) Question, is this enough? Why doesn't the marriage license trump everything else? I suppose if this is the only edvidence we can show then that is the bottom line. After seeing these 6 listings, has anyone thought of something else that may qualify as evidence? I suppose that the marriage license can be done by anyone and that is why it is not considered to be real evidence. Richard
  20. FRONTLINE explores the generation coming of age in China today. Shot over four years, the film follows a group of nine young Chinese from across the country as they scramble to keep pace with a society changing as fast as any in history. Their stories of ambition and desire, exuberance, crime and corruption are interwoven with moments of heartache and despair. Together they paint an intimate portrait of the generation that is remaking China. http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/youngchina/ Richard & Jian
  21. I suppose if every question asked where run through this filter, perhaps there would be very few questions asked. Many topics have been covered, and as new people arrive and others move forward in the visa process new experiences happen to members all the time. I have been a member of other forums and I know it can be frustrating for long time members to see newbie's ask questions that have been asked before. This question was not about the step by step visa process, but about the real life experiences people have had for a given visa route, and why they believed this was the best choice for them. We (Amanda & I) see advantages and disadvantages to both K1 & K3, we are working through which will be best for us. The best route will be determined by our personal desires for ourselves and our family. Our decision will be based upon many factors, as I am sure everyone here did the same. The question Amanda asked was to seek real life experiences so maybe we would learn from these, and be better informed in our own decision. It is my opinion that this is what CFL is all about, maybe yours differs. Richard
  22. I am getting ready to apply for my visa to enter China, does anyone here have experience with Master Visa Service? Their site http://www.mastervisaservice.com/chinese/t...CFUd4OAodwRpVfg Thanks Richard & Jian

  24. Hello all I have just registered and I hope to go to China in May 08 to meet my girlfriend for the first time. If all goes well perhaps we will make a big decision to spend our lives together. I can see there is a wealth of information here and I am trying to take it all in. Is there a list of acronyms so I know what people are talking about when they write SO or USC and others? Thanks Richard
