  4. Most days 3.14 will get you through Bob... Or on a rough day you may need to go as far as 3.14159 Richard

  6. That's great news, congradulations on the breakthrough. Richard
  7. Moron (psychology), a psychology-related term for a person with a genetically determined mental age between 8 and 12 And remember, someone on that team thought this was a good idea, hence the name moron. Richard
  8. 1988 was the last "amateurs" only Olympics. Since then it's been whoever a country wants to play. Before that the US played against many teams whose players were basically state funded. But I agree with you Smitty. It seemed more interesting when it was our real amateurs against their fauz ones. That's what I thought also, guess I am about 10 years behind.... Richard
  9. Maxal I know you're in the US, but I'll add my two cents since you are going to China. I was in Beijing and went to the US embassy, paid about $30 USD, and twenty minutes later I was done. We got our license in Harbin and there were no problems. As a side note I had registered with the embassy before I left the US, detailing my trip and other info they ask for, and while at the embassy they mentioned that I was in their computer system. I don't know if this facilitated my request, but if nothing else it is further evidence of my trip. Richard
  10. Congratulations, that's the best of news! Richard
  11. I'll be watching Friday night, lao po has to work that night Richard
  12. Yes, but wish was referring to the sun. My wife has very fair skin, so she has been doing this for a long time. My wife does use it in the sun sometimes, we were on the Great Wall and all I could think of "someone is going to get stabed by that thing" and going into the Forbidden City the guards made her put it away. Richard
  13. I was in Beijing for about two and a half weeks in May this year, there were many days that the sky was not clear, but also some days of clear blue skies. Richard
  14. I didn't forget, I just didn't know and I'm married I hope she doesn't see this post Richard
  15. Something that might work for you, is to tell your wife/GF to call you, let your cell ring two or three times and then she hangs up. This is your signal to call her back, and you don't have to be at home sitting in front of the computer to know she wants to talk. Richard
  16. Hello Ken My wife & I met on an online singles site and at first we sent emails thru the site. After about a week we wanted more freedom to communicate, the site would not allow us to send our personal email address to each other, so she gave me her cell #. After this we talked on cell and then exchanged email addresses. After having our email addresses we could then talk on webcam for free, and seeing and hearing each other was the best we could hope for short of actually meeting. My wife has a bachelors degree in English so our communication had this advantage, at first she would often say "how can I say this in English" but since we talked everyday her English usage improved quickly. I suppose for this reason we didn't have any real hardships to communicate. We are both very patient and have good listening skills, so even when she had a hard time to explain something I usually knew what she was trying to say. Once in awhile when I would use a word she was not familiar with she would ask me to type the word (in our chat client) and then she would look in her dictionary to know it's meaning. Because of her work schedule and the fact that we are 12 hours apart, we can talk twice a day, when it's my evening it is her morning & vise a versa. Also sending letters and gifts thru the postal service is another way to express yourself, when I received her first letter with her Chinese and English writing on the envelope, it was very exciting . Richard
  17. I saw this on Amazon awhile back and remember the editorial review wasn't very nice to the book, but it does sound interesting, perhaps Corbin you could write a review on Amazon http://www.amazon.com/1421-Year-China-Disc...YBVVAYGVK07RNNH Richard
  18. "None of us spoke English or had ever flown before -- our most familiar mode of transportation was the bicycle. We threw up during the entire flight and didn't know what an air-sickness bag was until a Chinese speaker came to our aid." What a wonderful flight that would have been Richard
  19. Seems a strange question to ask "where do they live?" I can't even answer that one concerning my ex, and really that's okay with me. Richard
  20. I have actually read through this thread, and I know that many of you have been here much longer than me, and know many of the members personalities through their posts and perhaps some have even met outside the CFL walls. I believe some very relevant points were made and it reminds me that this sort of "discussion" could have very well happen outside the virtual world of CFL. Which is another way of saying we are all just people and not much changes whether we're behind a keyboard in America or face to face in another country. And it also brings to mind an old saying "a hit dog will holler" just had to throw that in there. Richard
  21. Yea I know, the reason for the post is, I know some here use it, and might find the information "interesting" I'm not doing anything illegal, but I don't relish the thought of someone listening to the conversations between my wife and I. Richard
