  1. victory is garbage. White Swan is the only acceptable option on the island. Garden hotel is very nice although it's about 15 mintues's drive away from the consulate.
  2. couldn't help trying out the "new" menu. it's kinda funny that they asked a male operator to read the exact same thing as before.
  3. just wondering who should be held responsible for spreading AIDS all over the world, which, by the way, killing MILLIONS of people every year?
  4. not every H1b applicant will go through the background check. it depends on the type of work you do. speak from expereince. hope this helps...
  5. it is a genelization. but it's one based on facts. Many, many indians do smell. has to do with their diets.
  6. indians are no way similiar to Chinese. most of them smell and use hands to eat.
  7. oh my goodness. There is so much false information in your post that it's even worse than most of the government propaganda. And some of them are just flat out lies. If you hate it so much, why not leave once and for all? Take it easy.
  8. I read somewhere that people in HK has made seriours progress in finding the right anti-biotics.
  9. hi, JUZ, thanks. are you the guy in black? how do you match my name and face? I confirmed twice with info line that my clearance has been received. but visa yet to be printed. you will hear the good news soon!!!
  10. I checked some recent postings. It seems to me that GZ is pretty prompt in sending out EMS in March. Did you hear your clearance from DOS info line (read GZ actually entered the clearance in THEIR system)?
  11. hi, all Would you please share your experience on the time elapsed between GZ entering the clearance into the system and actually mailing out the EMS? Thank you so much!!!
  12. calvin, have you received the EMS yet? my clearance has been received by GZ yesterday. Thanks!!!
  13. same interview date here. one thing for sure: many ppl interviewed after that have got clearance. re-submit sounds like a good idea!
  14. so far I have three namecheck requests pending (Dec, Feb, and Beginning of March). hopefully, one of them could come through this month. keep my fingers and toes crossed... did you ask them to re-submit?
  15. just call EMS and verify with them that there is indeed a packet sent from GZ to your address. simple as that.
  16. I didn't check your math closely, but here is the deal. There were around 10,000 cases for 5 months (Aug-Dec), so that's around 2,000 a month. (there is no way GZ can interview 1,400 every week!) At this point, we could safely say that around 5,000 cases have been cleared since December. So GZ used around 3 months to clear half of the back log. They reduced the # of interviewees recently (according to several people on this board). Also, notice that the majority of new interviewees will have already got their clearances. Therefore, if more clearances will be sent to GZ at the current speed, the logic conclusion is that GZ will most likely clear up the whole "white slip" group by June. OK, there will be some exceptions, esp. for those who got a "hit" on their namechecks. anyone disagrees?
  17. totally agree. no matter where you are, money is just important.
  18. Provety can change, but habit is dying hard to change. A lot of my Chinese friends here in the US, probably make more money than I do. But they all know how much my house/car is because they asked me. I don't know theirs because I did not. I try to be understanding when among my own people, but this is just hard for many Chinese to hold of this cost curiosity. yes they earn some good salary now. but they have experienced the hardships when they were young.
  19. I believe the habit you just described have everything to do with the fact that many, many Chinese people have endured extreme poverty during 60's, 70's and 80's. Things are slowing chaning nowadays.
  20. To an extent yes, but how does one know this information about you to be able to look it up? Very few know how long I have worked in a given field, and most have no idea what level the work is. Say you say you work in finance, are you a clerk, are you a manager, are you Sr. or Jr. etc...., same with saying you are 'in computers', are you a help desk person, a programmer, a sys admin, an analist, or a CTO? And what about income from assets, I could be working as a pizza driver, and have rental properties, or a trust that pays me. I could have the job as a pizza driver to throw people off from the large trust etc. agree... it's being there to be found out or it's been being talked about are two different issues. and you think Americans don't talk about salary?
