Opie and Blossom: When I asked my sweetie how to say "I love you" in Chinese, she told me it sounds like "wall eye knee"

Now I tell her wo ai ni every day.

First off welcome Blossom and Opie,

I tell my Lao po "Wah Iso Knee". Reading Pinying is royally kicking my back side. Letter "i" seems to be hard "e" sound- i.e., Ni Hao. It also seems there are about 4 "j" or "j" constant sounds there. Pronouncing sometimes J, and always Z, Q and X are still a mystery to me (then again you have Xian as opposed to Xi'an). Anybody out there with a guide for sounding these letters? Kinda like Ni hao = "knee how". That is how I've been writing my limited Chinese in my note book anyway. . TIA Richard
