Randy W
I am tone deaf to Chinese tones. Maybe this will help. She talks about how Zuckerberg SHOULD have said what he said with appropriate tonation, and how to end sentences properly. Analyzing Mark Zuckerberg's Chinese|Learn Chinese In this video, I analyzed Mark Zuckerberg’s Chinese and pointed out some common mistakes that students often make. I focused on the tone problem, so if you are not sure about whether you pronounce the tone correctly and wonder why sometimes native speakers cannot get what you want to say, this video is perfect for you! ⚡️Time codes: 00:51 Intonation might be the reason you pronounce the tone wrong 02:14 How to make rising and falling intonations in Chinese 05:06 How to pronounce the first tone correctly 05:56 How to pronounce the third tone correctly Master Chinese "zh ch sh r" | Pronunciation Training There are many students who’re learning Chinese struggling with how to pronounce these “zh ch sh r” consonants (Chinese initials). when I was learning English, I was that person who's struggling with the pronunciation as well. After I went to college and studied linguistics, I figured out how amazing it is to know how these consonants and vowels works! Knowing that I can consciously train my mouth to get used to different ways to pronounce different sounds really opened a door for me, so I hope that I can use simple way to share my linguistic knowledge (the IPA of these sounds, how to put your lips and tongue etc.), explain it to you and help you improve your pronunciation! Randy W
For me, this got tedious just a minute and a half in, but maybe it'll be helpful to someone learning pinyin. It's 30 min. long, so I didn't bother going any further. I do well with pinyin, but, even though I have a good musical ear, I'm tone deaf to Chinese tones. Randy W
A “green horse” is not a horse. The phrase is pronounced exactly the same way as for 绿码 (lǜ mǎ) — the “green code” that indicates a person is at low risk of carrying COVID-19 and can travel freely within the country. Souvenirs, mascots, and snacks featuring a green horse now symbolize good luck — it’s the gag gift of the year.
