Brian92
At the end of the interview in Guangzhou my wife was "Preliminary approved." However, due to her membership in the "Communist Party of China" we have to fill out a form titled, "Additional Employment and Education History/CCP Information." It asks us to answer 9 questions. Other than that everything went well. She even received a final processing letter. However, I read online that after submitting this form it might take months to get approved if at all. Has anyone else gotten this before? What exactly does this mean? (I couldn't post the picture of the form for some reason.) Link to comment

Greg.D.
It will add a couple of months. Maybe 2-3 months. Because it is reviewed by DHS (Homeland Security). Link to comment
flash
Brian, I am curious to know if at the time of your interview, your wife was an active member of the CCP or if she was just a member in the past and ended her membership? Over 1 month later, are you still waiting for the final processing of that additional document? Link to comment
Brian92
She is still in the CCP, and wants to quit after/if we get the visa. We are still waiting in administrative processing now. We have contacted an official to hopefully help us push things along. Been almost 2 months since the interview. Link to comment

Only issue later down the road is it comes up again if and when applying for citizenship, and at that time when it comes up it is a matter of stating it was a job requirement, and not for political reasons. Brian92
Probably will look to get citizenship later down the road so I think she will leave the CCP. Its been 2 months since the interview now and we are wondering what the average wait time is for this type of situation. Does anyone have any idea? I've heard usually 3-4 months after browsing around this website, but not sure. Thank you for the answers/help so far. Link to comment

Brian92
It has now been over 4 months and I have returned to America, but my wife is still in China. Getting a little discouraged after seeing that some people are still waiting after much longer. Also heard that the new normal waiting time is 6-8 months? Anyone know if this is true? Probably will return to China if this is the case.... Link to comment
Greg.D.
No decision yet is not "denied", so that much is good. Have you been tracking yur case status athttps://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx ? Every time the app is handled it will register as an "update". Link to comment
Brian92
Yeah been using that site since the start. The only time it ever gets updated is when we contact a US senator to help us. Link to comment
Brian92
Is there any way to send the embassy an email about our situation? If I did could this even help our situation move along any faster? Both my wife and I have put our lives on hold because of this and we want to try everything we can to move this faster. Thanks for everyone's help. Link to comment
