Well....thought I'd post something a bit more meaningful for a change. Just wanted to share that the last step in the K-1 visa process was finally completed yesterday. Geez...what an unromantic way to say Jing Mei and I are finally married. Yippeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!

 

I won't bore everyone with the details. But, the day was perfect. I know...I know...everyone always says that. But really--it was! I found a Buddhist Monk who really embraces the existential nature of the tradition. He said some mind-warping stuff. His thoughts were so simple but everyone left the ceremony trying to grasp the depth of what he had said. I couldn't have asked for a more perfect way to enter my life with Jing Mei. When I get my hands on some of the poems and thoughts he shared, I'll post them. I hope ya'll might enjoy them. I'll also post some pics from the day once I figure out this free web hosting thing on Earthlink. (What? Dave G. exposed???) Funny...come to think about it, most of you probably already think I'm one who likes exposing myself.

 

Many times during the ceremony, I got verklempt (damn, I hate when that happens). I was able to pull it off cuz my back was to people (but I saw the one wedding assistant eyeballing me--busted!) Then, it really happened! Had to say the vows. You know that high pitched, squeaky sound when you let the air out of a balloon when you pinch the end? That was me! All the women started bawling and I was secretly told some of the guys too. Then JM lost it. It looked like the part from "Stand By Me" during the barf-o-rama scene (lovely comparison, I know). Even the monk had the look in his eye of "holy cow!" (great pun, eh?)...the groom lost it!

 

The two reasons I post today is to share the good news and to hope to instill further hope for others. It does end, folks! Hang in there...you'll soon be posting your big day to new folks with blue thingie envy.

Congratulations Dave on taking that final step in the K1 maze. Now its on to more fun things like changing diapers and AOS. :wub:

 

Seriously, from what you say it seems you had a ceremony that was both moving and profound. I would be most interested in reading some of the poems you mentioned. Love is indeed a wonderful and mysterious thing. Somewhere hidden deep in the recesses of this board, I once wrote a short essay about love but I doubt you could find it. (Maybe Cliff could). It was written in celebration of getting my fifth blue thingie as I recall. That ought to tell ya how deep in the recesses it is. Anyway, thanks for sharing this with us and look forward to getting a link to the pics.

 

Were the dogs there? :D

Probably both Dave. I am about two months behind you if you guys are due in March. I'll be looking forward to your progress reports throughout March and April. Unless our little lady makes an early appearance, she is not due until May 13.
