what is the DS-156 form and do I need it?

I read a post about needing 2 copies of each form in english and chinese.

Do I need this for a K-1?

Actually the DS-156 can be filled out online in English and after the from is printed you fill out Items 6, 7, 8, 9, 15, 18, 20 manually in Chinese.

Correction, my finacee just told me they still wanted the Chinese form she filled out.

K-Visas are NON-Immigrant so are required to fill out form DS-156.

 

DOS has a nice PDF form generator, you fill it out on line and print it out, you can also save a copy of the filled out PDF.

Two of each, in our case I visited the cnsulate for ACH and I asked if Chinese forms are needed if my fiancee is ok with English, the VO told me that doing just the English DS-156 is fine.

 

Others have indicated that they were requested to provide both versions.
